I interviewed there last year and thought I did well. Guess not. They won't even invite me back. I've made quite a bit of improvements in my app as well.

On another note, I'd rather be nervous over interview results than not having had a single allopathic interview this late in the game.

Oh, I'm hanging, just kinda wished they wouldn't have tied the darned thing around my throat.

Just one more day! Do all Florida schools let us know on Sunday or Monday if selected?

You are freaking me out dude!

I keep telling myself that SDN is really skewed towards the uber gunners and their ilk, but still....you are freaking me out!

Does anyone know if USF sends letters informing of waitlisting? Or is it just a call/email? Thanks.

They will call you and notify you. REL makes everything personalized by calling whether you are waitlisted or directly accepted. Flat out rejections are rarely given to interviewees. They give waitlists in 3 tiers and tell you which tier you are in and if you are in the top 1/3 to 50% there is good chance of eventually getting in.

Although the August MCATers are now officially completely in the pool, it is still not too late to get accepted there for this cycel. It is still October and they didn't even start interviewing til September.

USF has interviews til mid to late march. You can get the last interview invite and still get a higher tier waitlist position and eventually get in between May and June. So I wouldn't sweat it.

If you do anything to better your application that wasn't on your original amcas please update REL with it because USF likes to see that.

Late in the game? The interview season begins in mid-September and goes through March/April....we are still very early -- still scheduling for mid-November.....

Ha you beat me to posting that. 🙂

I've had quite many friends who interviewed between Januray and March and got into USF.

Got less then 24 hours to wait!! I hope today hurries us!

Good luck everyone!!!!!!

UVCE,

No I'm possibly applying next year. We'll see how my postbac goes. I've been doing as Mrs. Jackson has been advising me to do. Anyhow, we'll see what happens.

Good luck to this years people.

at FSU you do not pay the application fee and submit the FSU application (general) until you have already beed accepted. This is the general school's application, not the secondary. I guess filling it out would be a kind of acceptance of their acceptance.

No, I'm not ED. I don't mean med school school application or secondary. I mean the application FSU itself that you have to turn in after your accepted with like a $36 fee. They said once you pay that $36, its binding.
Ok, I follow you guys. In that case, I suggest that you wait as long as you can to fill out the form and pay the money, but make sure to pay it by whatever deadline they set unless you've decided for sure not to attend FSU by that time. Say they set April 15 as the deadline to pay/fill out the form. You turn in your money and form on April 15, and at that point, you're planning to attend FSU and you're not holding any other acceptances. But maybe you're still on some waitlists at other schools. If you get in off one of those waitlists later, you can still withdraw from FSU after April 15 and attend another school, but if you do, FSU will probably keep your money. Since it's only $36, I wouldn't sweat it. (Some other schools do the same thing but make you deposit $100 or $200.) No matter how much the school makes you put down as a deposit, they can't force you to attend their school even after you've paid the deposit as long as you haven't officially matriculated yet. I mean, imagine if you get into your top choice school off the waitlist the day after your money was due to FSU! People get accepted to schools off waitlists up until the day before school starts, and some of them decide to drop everything and make a total change of plans just like that. So if you get into the school of your dreams in, say, June after paying FSU in April, you are still free to pick the school you want.

However, once you matriculate and actually start attending orientation, that's a different story. Say orientation starts on July 1 at FSU, and you get a call from your favorite school from the waitlist during the first day (on July 1). That's too bad. If you've shown up for the first day of orientation at FSU, then you have officially matriculated there, and NOW you are locked into attending FSU. You can't withdraw from FSU once you've started school there to go somewhere else. You should also consider that if you do withdraw from FSU last minute, it means that they will have to find someone to replace you, and yeah, they probably won't be very happy about it. Don't withdraw last minute from schools on a whim; IMO you should have a very good reason (ex. major differences in financial aid, closer to family if you're married, etc.) if you decide to change schools the week before orientation starts.

Does that make sense?

P.S. I also want to wish everyone luck tomorrow. 🙂

I'm pretty sure REL said he was going to shoot us an email tomorrow, not call. All of which is totally fine with me, as it will be Sunday and not an actual business day.

:luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: everyone...hope we hear sometime tomorrow 🙄 🙄 🙄

Definetly and thanks A LOT for the detailed response. I apprecieate it!

That's cuz tomorrow's sunday. Every week after this coming week will bring about acceptances on Wednesdays between like 9-11 or 12 via a phone call. That's how the EDP decisions were sent out too.

Waitlists also were calls during business hours although it might have been later then 12 and more then 1 day a week for waitlist acceptances. I don't recall now though.

Because this is the first bactch of acceptances and following the Oct 15th rule they will most likely send emails and this will probably one of the only times the call will occur on a weekend.

I asked about the $30/holding spot during my interview day and she said that we are required to pay the $30 within 2 weeks of acceptance...as our way of "accepting" the acceptance. If we choose to later attend another school, we may certainly withdraw and all we lose is $30. Dont stress 🙂

Right. Like I said, they'll probably keep your money, but you can still go somewhere else after you've paid to hold your spot as long as you haven't actually started attending orientation yet. 🙂

Does anyone know if we will hear from schools on 15th (Sunday) or 16th? Do all florida schools let us know by then (if accepted)?

Anybody know what time we should check our emails? Its seems like I'm going to hit to send and receive button an hundred times today!!!

Good luck!!!:luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:

I don't know. I've already checked like 15 times. I was hoping to know this morning. Guess we'll keep waiting. GL to you!

Yeah me too!!! I hope they don't make us wait until late this afternoon (that's when all my emails from USF are dated and timed at):luck: :luck:

Really? Almost all mine are time-stamped before 11AM.
Either way, 10:40 and still no news. Maybe I'll cook something.

Still no news here either! Cooking is a good way to get your mind off things...I'm on my way to mass so at least for one hour I won't be continously checking my email!

Yeah, I went to church this morning, and I thought when I got home there'd be something. No such luck. I have a small group mtg this afternoon, for which I need to leave by 5:15. I realllllly hope I hear before then from USF.

USF for sure by email as Mr. Larkin told us. I'm not sure UF calls, but I saw they did last year and oct 15th was a Saturday.
Last year, REL emailed me on Saturday morning (Oct. 15). UF called by phone on Saturday morning. Can't tell you what FSU or Miami do on Oct. 15. Good luck to everyone waiting to hear. :luck:

Well its 2pm now and still no word...I got a really good vibe on the phone Wednesday, so now I'm starting to worry!

I have quit checking my email every 5 minutes. 🙁 🙁

Good Luck buddy!!! I hope you get in to UF!!! Dua karoon gee tumhare liye.

I hope you get to feel today what I feel like right now. It's unbelievable. I'm going to be a doctor!!!

Still waiting for the USF email, though.

:luck: :luck:

I'm so happy for you!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

October 15 has been a non-event as far as Florida schools are concerned,

I haven't heard anything from USF yet either. However, I did just get accepted over the phone from Kentucky!

Congratulation, your first acceptance of the many to follow. I have given up on Florida schools calling today. USF might still e-mial as many people here are convinced of that.

Thanks everyone. UK was definitely one of my top choices. I didn't really think I had much of a chance considering only 25-ish OOS students matriculate each year. But, I guess you really never know.

I wonder what's up with the FL schools today. I really expected the USF email by now. Either way, if it comes before midnight, I guess it's still 10/15. Honestly, I can't believe any school is working on Sunday to let us know, but I really do appreciate it.

:luck: to everyone still waiting. I'm sure we'll hear soon enough.

So if USF doesn't send out an email today, do you think they will call tomorrow? It seems strange that they wouldn't send out an email, when he specifically send he would!

I concur. I think it's very strange that we haven't heard anything today from them. Maybe it'll come later this evening (at least I'm still holding out hope for today).

My new idea is that they are waiting until after the football game!
