Wisconsin 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This rejection was expected but currently spiraling bc all I have is two schools left and I’m waitlisted #2 at my IS😵‍💫 4th time applicant I’m ready to be doneeeeeee and just want to start school/my life already lmao
It’s hard but I really do have a lot of hope for you. Not sure which school is your IS but I feel like #2 is a somewhat solid position. I think someone said that typically any IS waitlist moves like 1-10 (or 1–3 depending on the program). I’ll be cheering for you on the sidelines! It’s not over till it’s over.

Thank you!! & My IS is tOSU, statistically I *should* get in because they’ve went to at least #6 the past 6 years but not trying to get my hopes up on the off chance that it’s different this year 😂

My email says I’m alternate number 3.0. Does that mean I’m 3 or 30 if they messed up the period lol
I was OOS alternate 3.0 last year. It means you’re third on the waitlist. I got in on decision day (April 15) because that’s when they start taking off the waitlist. OOS waitlist moves a lot but even if you are on the IS waitlist I’d say it’s pretty likely you’ll get in

OOS rejected this morning congrats to all that got in or waitlisted!

OOS rejection- best of luck to everyone who got in/is still trying!

I did! I just want to be able to conclude this cycle as it has dragged on wayyyy too long haha. I would just withdraw from Wisconsin, but I already paid the fees so might as well stick it until the end
did you get waitlisted? is Wisconsin your preference? I got into Virginia today and i'm debating pulling my app from the waitlist in Arizona. I don't want waitlisters to have to wait longer on my account. I'm not sure what to do.

Just withdrew from the waitlist (position 54) as I have some other (more certain) options higher on my list. I wish everyone the absolute best!

Nope! Neither of those! I'm also most likely going to pull my name from the waitlist at UAZ!

OOS rejection, as expected. Congratulations to all those accepted and waitlisted. To everyone else - try to be kind to yourself. This is such a difficult process and y'all should be proud for making it this far <3

Try not to worry about taking your time because it seems a good chunk of schools don't contact waitlist people until after the deadline.

UAZ said that they would start calling students off the waitlist as soon as someone declines their offer. They’re only waiting until April 21st to release waitlist ranks but you can be lifted before that

Any current students lurking that want to share their experience at Wisconsin ?

Should I be concerned if I haven’t received any news/emails yet? :0 Debating on reaching out to them..

I’m a second year and overall I’ve had a great experience! The professors truly seem to care about us and are willing to do a lot to help you succeed. We also have free counseling resources which are also really useful for many students especially when first adjusting to vet school. If anyone has any specific questions let me know!

When will the waitlist begin to move/is there any way to know how much it moves or do you just wait to hear from them if you get pulled off?

If it’s anything like last year, they won’t update the waitlist or start making offers to anyone on the waitlist until decision day. Then they start sending email offers to the people they are pulling off the waitlist! We had people getting accepted off the waitlist up until classes started in the fall

It’s hard to say for sure what you will experience because they are starting the new curriculum for your class and it’ll be completely different than ours. But other than that the faculty have been amazing so far and most truly want to do their best to help you succeed plus Madison is so so much fun (but expensive). I’m a first year so I haven’t been at Wisconsin very long but if anyone has any specific questions feel free to message me!

OOS acceptance! I’ve heard a lot about the change in curriculum- have you heard what that change may look like? A doctor who just graduated that I know said the curriculum on the website still is what he went through so I was curious about it.

I’m not sure exactly what all the changes will be but I think they will be moving toward a systems approach. So you will focus on one body system for a few weeks (and do histo, anatomy, phys, etc. for that one system) and then switch to a new system. That’s how most vet schools are teaching their curriculum now. I know they are also no longer doing dissection for anatomy you will just be studying cadavers that are already dissected. I have also heard that the lectures might be more online than they are now but I don’t know if that’s for sure true.

anyone have details about the admitted student day tomorrow? I have none so far and im stressed!!!

My daughter (who does not have an account here) declined her OOS seat today- best of luck to those on the waitlist or still making decisions!

Does anyone know when/if waitlist updates are being sent? I thought there would be one yesterday

How long do you have to decide?
It sounds like it varies. I got the impression that it gets shorter as it gets closer to the start of school. She really wasn't specific. My kid is now #2). I think knowing that has made me more anxious.
