Hey,

All of you folks who are writing NBDE Part 1 in November/December 2009, come and share your knowledge. I have just started my preparation in May.

I did my Graduation in 2007 from India. So the subjects I m studying now were studied by me 5-6 years back.

So lets make a study plan and study together.

hey we cant reappear for NBDE after 2010!!!! but if we appear in 2009 then we do stand a chance to reappear one more time right???????????

No if you passed the exam. You can not retake in 2010. You can only retake in 2009. given that you have 3 months time in between.

But most of us are appearing fr the exam in nov/dec...someone who writes the exam in dec will get the result in 2-3 weeks...by tht time it'd be already 1st of jan...so it won't make much of a diff coz by 1st jan we can't reappear fr the exam...so it is bettr to be thoroughly prepared.

Yes Right, so whenever we write the exam, we have 3 month waiting period after that and then we can rebook the exam and if it is January by then we cannot rewrite.....

So guys, We should all pray that all of us get above 90......

So, we should prepare this exam very thoroughly and we should leave no stone unturned.....

hey bddsgirl, this 2010 pattern is a wee bit crazy..........how are they going to evaluate people who hav had re-take of exams with one timers?
so if somebdy gets a composite score of 75 thats it......right, one cant rebuild..........is it possible if u take exam in nov and re-take in Jan, since the rule will be applicable from Jan onwards.....?

Am going crazy with biochem-physio, its never ending..........initially i thought will be able to recollect, but it seems like alls gone with the wind sorts 😛, i hate to admit that though😡
Are there certain areas you stressed more?

finally did u end up achieveing ur goal of being a morning star ? I jus cant somehow...........

Micro, is lengthy......but as you cover virology, rest everythin should be interesting..........unlike school days, there are a couple of organisms we ne'er deemed necessary then, but it is now........

How long did u take to complete physiology-biochemistry ?

Truth seeker, you cannot retake NDBE starting January 2010 if you passed. If you take it in november you have to wait 3 months anyway until you can retest. If you want to retest, you have to take it before september so you can retake in december to improve score. It sucks but this is the new rule.

You are right about that Gone With The Wind thing.......I am still on basics of Micro like Physiology and morphology of bacteria....I am doing it from my own text book.....and it is 615 pages.....and I am still on 10th page.....and Yes I think we have to go through those bacteria too which we left as unimportant back in school days....I remember I got 89% in Microbiology in my Second year in my school.....But now My God I dont know anything.....

Oh, I finished Biochem-Physio in two months exactly including my text books, decks and doing all the ASDA papers since 1979-2005.....but now I am very confident about these two subjects......it took time to recall them, I agree, but it was worth it........

I think from Physio CVS, Resp, Renal, Endocrine, Blood, GIT, Muscles are most important....Oh My God did I write all of the topics??? OK well, CNS is important too but I think not very deeply......

And Biochem, I think Biochemistry, Digestion, Absorption, Metabolism of CHOs, Lipids, Proteins.....and Enzymes and ETC and Oxidative phosphorylation are important.....

I am really sorry if I wrote everything......but thats what I really feel......

And now something about Micro, I just am NOT able to concentrate into it....I dont know why.....pleaseeeeeeeeee GOD help me......its been 3 days now since I am on the same topic of Morphology of Bacteria.......and I am NOT going ahead......I have decided to finish Micro by the end of July.....but I dont think I will be able to do that......Oh, I really want to concentrate more......

And about being a Morning star, Yes, I usually wake up at 7:30 am....ok maybe 7:45 am or 8:00am the least........But I really want to wake up 6:00 am every morning......because thats a very good time to study and concentrate......

so, now I am going back into my Micro book...and I hope God give all of us more strength to study more hard.........

Hello Everyone there,
I am new to this forum and its great to find everyone chipping in to help one another. I am planning on giving the exam sometime in september, however have just started studying. Have somewhat done DA but still need to go back to it. Have started physio now. If any of you guys is following any timetable it would be great if you share, so then we can help each other be on track and on time.
I am in Seattle, if anybody else is here it would be very helpful to make a studygroup.

Initially micro is like "a feeling of being dead" moreso coz we hav been through it yet dont remember it, as we move on to pathology and diseases...
dont worry......lets help each other out......
I dont want to reiterate , we all were good in school.....and i dont wanna recollect how much i scored in physiology, coz that would be sheer embarrasment for me, to find it so difficult to get back onto those subjects again......

we r as better as our performance is today.....our scores are past....we need to perform today..how bout this.....you put q's from wat u covered today, so will i , that will help revise micro-path for me and physio-biochem for you, only if u please.

I did not study at all today......I hate these kind of days when I am not able to study.......but never mind......it goes on....you have good days and you have bad days too.....so I think we should study with full concentration on those days when we get to study..........

And I am definitely going to get up tomorrow morning at 6:00 am.......Definitely.......
And if I will, I will post here the first thing...........and you let me know about you...

and now if you have any questions about Physio-Biochem you post here and then we can discuss it.....

And are you on your schedule now......i hope you are.....I am exactly 7 days behind my schedule now and I can totally understand how it feels....

I dont know why it happens......but when I finish something, like I was done with my Physio-Biochem, then I become careless about studies....for some days.....and then I am back on track.....So from tomorrow onwards I am going to be SERIOUS about my studies again......

I know it is so hard to manage a baby and study.....I can totally understand....but dont worry even I am not getting much time to study these days.....so I think we will increase the hours slowly......so hopefully you finish your Physio by the end of this month....

I am still revising Physio...did Cardio and respiration today......have to revise whole Physio and Biochem by the end of this month......

I am starting Micro next....wat subject are you starting next?

i'm joinin you guys.What's the material u are usin for the physio kindly share the info with me anybody.

I just finished with Bio and Physio. And started doing previous questions. Results are not good. I am scoring in early 70's. I think if i score near 85 then i can imagine to get at least 75-80 in real exam. I will revise both subjects and then move on to Micro.

I used USMLE notes and Guyton for some parts for Physio.

So far I will be using NBDE First aid and Decks for Micro. I have 2006-07 decks. I may consult USMLE notes if I find something missing. I am not sure which text book to consult.

I am studying Micro from Textbook Of Microbiology written by C K J Paniker.....It is a big book of over 600 pages.....but I think it is worth reading because I need to clear my basics first........and then I will go through Dental Decks....

Hey Guys,

So how are you all doing with your preparation? I finally got to wake up at 6:30 am this morning....and I went for running for half an hour.....it was so refreshing....my brain worked so much better.....with all the fresh air and oxygen I got......I am going to do this every morning now and try to wake up at 6:00 am now......you guys try this too....its so good...

So right now I am still on Micro.....I am doing bacterial genetics now.......

So going back to my books.....

i am OK as of now....i spoke to a few people who have made it...!! they have said they did the same...!!! it's all very subjective ....no two people can study in the exact same manner...so we should do what we feel works the best for us...!!!!ofcourse u always go back to the text books in case u get stuck up somewhere real bad.....!!!!!besides i have a 5 month old to take care of...so i dont have the time anyway...!!! if u guys can put in the time u should ...!!!!

Bacterial genetics is about methods of gene transfer in microorganisms.......transformation, transduction, lysogenic conversion and conjugation....and about the genetic factors in bacteria, and a little bit about genetic engineering, multiple drug resistances.....and all that

taken my test lately n found the questions were pretty basic n been asked in a tricky way. straight forward questions were very less in number. I think the resources that use are more than enough. I really wonder for the pathology esp the systemic pathology kaplan notes for nbde is lil insufficient n vague. If you could find something for that wud be fine. I honestly donno the stuff. Use the ASDA papers n lippincott for biochemistry,wheelers for the DA as much as u can. I hope it helps.

taken my test lately n found the questions were pretty basic n been asked in a tricky way. straight forward questions were very less in number. I think the resources that use are more than enough. I really wonder for the pathology esp the systemic pathology kaplan notes for nbde is lil insufficient n vague. If you could find something for that wud be fine. I honestly donno the stuff. Use the ASDA papers n lippincott for biochemistry,wheelers for the DA as much as u can. I hope it helps.

I am dedicating the rest of the month of July for Micro book, Decks for Micro and Solving ASDA papers for it........I just hope I finish it in that time......I graduated way back in 2006.....so forgotten everything now.....have to refresh it all....

I did proteins, vitamins from the lippincott, becoz the structures like primary, secondary evrythng are good in lippincott. Vitamins are really elaborate n worth doin. Try them. What are u upto nowadays? Is it biochem?

Yep! I took my testin couple of days back. I took nearly 6 months to prepare, might sound too long for you, but I'm a mother of two. Not tired but keepin me in my toes. Maybe, we can post some questions after you finish. That way we can check our prep. Good luck.

I am doing biochem and physio these days. Doing them from the decks first and then finding the explanation of the related difficulties in book and internet.

was down with fever and flu ( not the H1N1 type though)
today was 6.45, but am gonna try to be up earlier.The Morning Sun helps me

To those wondering abt Biochemistry, i guess i'l sit up with lippincot if i have to, i find it interesting though.....better than my 1st yr pages. Physiology is slow...... Biochemistry knocks down my nervous system hard after every 2 hours. Lets see wat happens after the end of 4 months.

I have read Biochem from my text book....though not lippincott.......But I think we should do Biochem from a text book to get the thorough knowledge.....since it is very important and not very good in Kaplan or NBDE First-aid........It is worth reading........

Welcome to this forum......Regarding your time for anatomy, it depends when are you writing your test..........I am writing my test in November.....and its been 3 years since I graduated....so I have alloted full 1 month for anatomy....since this alone subject carries full 100 marks....and it is very important to read it very thoroughly..........
