i'm so excited!! just bought my ticket yesterday!

anyone want to be in charge of starting a facebook group for accepted students? eh? eh?
Good idea--who is going to step up? 😎

maybe we can ask someone at adcom to do it? unless of course someone wants to volunteer.

I feel like it should be student-run. Someone must love Vandy so so so much that they would create a Facebook group, taking approximately 5 minute of their precious time?

I've already created a group for this season, and thus, I would have to say, 'not it!'

i can't stop thinking of vandy. is it bad that even during other interview and tours after my day at vandy, that i only think about vandy? lol...and i'm actually being dead serious about that. i swear, i'm in love with vandy. please, vandy, reciprocate. 🙂 😍

stop being a girly man. If it happens then celebrate, but don't act so desperate. Keep your cool man, it's just a school.

haha i know, i know. but while it IS just a school, medical school IS going to be a place where you will spend at least the next four years of your life....it is important that you enjoy your life and these are key years of your life. my $0.02

what's the longest anyone had to wait between interviewing and getting the acceptance phone call/wait list letter? I know the school told us 6-8 weeks (or was it 8-10). I just got through week 8, and I'm not optimistic

For me it was almost ten weeks, more than nine. Had I gotten the call, it would have been just over nine weeks (snail mail takes three days). They told us 8-10 at our interview and they were right, at least with me....

mine was a little more than 9 weeks. Yea, waiting is a pain...

good luck!!

Is anyone else having difficulty with logging into Vanderbilt's Off-Campus Roommate and Housing Database? I was given a username and password (since I'm not a Vandy undergrad and don't already have one of my own), but I keep getting the "incorrect login" page.

So did I. I even tried variations of the given username and password, just in case there was a space somewhere or a letter was accidentally capitalized, but no luck so far. :eyebrow: One of us might have to email Ms. Hutchison if they lock me out from too many tries.

Does anyone know when is the last interview at Vanderbilt? the beginning of Feb or the end of Feb?

I think they told us the last day of interviews is Feb 12th or 17th.

Does anyone know if its a good idea to write a letter of interest? and if so, to whom should it be addressed? Thanks!

absolutely a terrible idea. won't help at all. it could destroy your chances. i'd bet against it. you shouldn't even consider it.

you're welcome

err so i'm assuming you are being serious. either way, that was the vibe i got...

relax. i'm not sure if anything will help/hurt at this point. if there was something i could actually do that I think would help, I would have done it by now.

i was also trying to be sort of sarcastic. sorry about that. does anyone really know if a letter of interest helps? not too sure

Did you finally hear back? I interviewed on 11/30 too, so I'm anxious to find out. I sent in a pre-decision LOI, but eh.

i didn't contact the dean directly, but i wrote my interviewer a sort of LOI also. eh for me too

So I interviewed here back in November. I got a "can't offer you admission right now" letter 10 weeks after interview. Here's my question, do they send rejection letters after the interview to any people?

Also, the letter said that my application will be under active review so I may not have to wait till May 1st for a possible admission. Is this just the way they do their waitlist or is that different?

Yeah, it's sort of their way of doing a running waitlist. You'll be considered each time they review applications and some people this year have already gotten acceptances after being on "hold"

I have that too - that's what the UChicago continued list is like as well, but as far as I heard in reality that almost never happens. Most people that do get accepted eventually in such a situation come off the waitlist.

I have some updates, should I wait until they actually form their waitlist or go ahead and send it now? If they aren't going to look at it until later, it might work better for me to wait. I'm out of school now, so I probably won't have anything extra by then. Thanks!

With Vanderbilt, if you don't get in by March, there is very little hope that you'll get a spot. My interviewer told me that 2 people got off the official waitlist after March last year. Since they don't reject anybody post-interview and over-accept for their class size, basically the class is entirely made up of people who were accepted outright. Sad reality, unfortunately.

Also, I would bet that update letters/letters of interest/intent really don't do anything here. The people who got off hold this year and last year didn't send letters. They must have been really borderline people and almost got accepted outright the first time.

Has anyone called recently to see when they are giving out the next batch of decisions??

past the 8 weeks mark... is this bad news in disguise?

It's not necessarily bad news -- I think it took me about 10 weeks to hear back. :luck:

my friend interviewed on Dec. 4 just got accepted today.

does anyone know what email to send updates to? the only one i found was Dr. Sagen's at [email protected]

is that the one we use or is there another one for the admissions office? Also, if it is the above email, should we address it Dr. Sagen instead of Admissions Committee?

I emailed mine to Dr Sagen and addressed the actual letter to the AdCom - I think rockaction did the same. Dr Sagen added it to my file the same day.

I really wouldn't lose hope if you were put on "hold". I posted about this earlier... but I interviewed in August and was put on hold for months. Then I was accepted in January and not only that, but they threw a huge scholarship at me! Was completely taken aback. Basically if you are put on the hold list, I really wouldn't take it badly.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

Did you send in any update letters or letter of interest or intent?

dude, congrats, but you're really lucky. last year, like 1 or 2 people got off of the hold on SDN. as cool as it sounds to be full of hope, we gotta be realistic.

that's good to know, but that also means you had to wait 5 months before hearing anything back. i imagine most of the slots are already filled by people who interviewed very early like you. others who just heard back from the school recently (ie me) probably won't be so lucky.
