Dear thread,

I'm an undergrad who is acing classes and looking on advice to land an interview at Brown's medical school. What does it take? Of those interviewed and accepted, what were your stats? What were your ECs like? PM or post would be excellent.

Brown was easily my favorite school I've interviewed at so far. Everyone was super helpful and friendly and the campus was really well put together....

Anyone else heard any news? Good luck to those waiting to hear :luck:

Agreed on the quiet thread, helpfulness, and friendliness! Everyone there was pretty awesome!

Dear PullUpThePeople,

The Admissions Committee for The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University has completed its preliminary review of applications to the MD Class of 2015. Regretfully, I must inform you that your application was not selected for interview consideration.

Stay sexy!

XOXO,

Brown"

Rejected pre-interview as well today via email.

Non-traditional, OOS. Complete early.

Stay frosty, Brown.

For those who were rejected today pre-interview, when were you complete?

rejected pre-interview 12/2 via email. Was complete mid august.

People who have already interviewed will hear decisions on December 20th!

Anyone else complete super early (mid to late July) and heard nothing? I assume rejection by this point, but still🙂

i have been complete since august and haven't heard anything. my status still says "in process". i see earlier in the thread that others complete in august have received rejection emails...and i haven't...yet. so i guess we will see.

I'm like you. I got my confirmation email from them on July 21st... I haven't heard any news since then, although I do like to check online occasionally.

C'est la vie. I am not even going to try to interpret the timing.

In the same boat. I stopped checking this thread in Aug since I realized it was way out of my league.

Pre-interview rejection today. Complete sometime in September. Farewell, Brown thread. Good luck to the rest of you!

Just got back from my interview. All I can say is wow. Brown has such an amazing program, faculty, and staff... I can't get over it. We're supposed to hear back on December 20th. I can't wait.

^^ Same here! LOVED Brown. It was incredible. Hopefully good news in just a week! >___<

Got the boot today. Yeah, like I didn't totally see that coming.

Oh well... I got into a school higher on my list anyways.

Rejected today, pre-interview... complete in July, 34s 4.0 OOS
Sad, I loved everything I heard about this program!

Best of luck to everyone else, congratulations to everyone who has / had an interview or acceptance 🙂

which method do people find out about interview invites?

Will it tell you on your application status, or do you just decide to wait for an email or phone call?

I'm weening myself off of having to log into several of my accounts, b/c I can't take the lack of a status update. I'm thinking that might come in January or February.

Brown is my undergrad institution. It is so amazing here, I couldn't picture myself finishing all of my education anywhere else. I can't wait to see what the new med school building is like. Finally got an interview invitation - sorry to hear about the rejections, guys. Best of luck to everyone!

they'll email you. no phone call, just an email telling you of the dates they're offering

I came close to going to Brown for undergrad as well. Had I known I would be pre-med, I definitely would have gone there, as my undergrad is probably the worst place for a pre-med.

Congrats on the invite, aka near-acceptance!!! 🙂 For me, the last 11 notifications from med schools have been invites, so it was amusing to see something different for a change, haha. I also knew that if I was complete in mid-July and haven't heard back yet, there was a 99% it was going to be a rejection. It didn't phase me at all. 🙂

Thank you for letting me know. I'm gonna just play cool, and log into my email once or twice a day. I wish I could do better than this.

This thread needs more love. Bump and good luck to everyone waiting for Monday.... !

Decisions are out! Go check! =D hehe

^________^V yay brown <333

Good luck!

Interview invite today! What a total surprise. Gave me the option of Feb 17th or 24th.

Complete 8/22

Also just got an interview invite, I'll be there 2/17. Does anyone happen to know the notify date for those of us interviewing in mid-February?

Wikipedia says....

"In 2008, Alpert received 5,902 applications and interviewed 209 applicants for less than 40 spots (the incoming PLME class and other varied routes of admission accounting for the other 50+)."

That's true but... around 150 spots of acceptance are offered. 150/209 = good!

For those of you who were notified on 12/20, when did you interview? My husband is trying to figure out when he'll know if I get in, so he can start applying for jobs... My interview is scheduled for February. I'm not trying to be a pain, just trying to get an idea of the turnaround time!

Thanks!!

I interviewed 12/18 and we're supposed to find out 1/28 at noon EST. That's with holidays though. For some reason I was under the impression that Brown's turnaround time is pretty short...a week maybe, under normal circumstances.

Thanks for the info. Just wanted to make sure they're not like some of the other schools where I have interviewed, where they take two or three months to get back to you!

Rejected yesterday via email while at my interview for U Hawaii.

Sigh, I really liked Brown too. Good luck everyone else!

What's goin on ppl? I'm a 1st yr med student at Brown and I love it here. Best choice I ever made. I haven't been on here in a while, but if you're like I was around this time last yr, you're checking this site 24/7/365 for updates and whatnot. Sorry if this post gets hopes up about new news/info on interviews/acceptances/rejections.

I'd be happy to answer any questions anyone has though. Good luck and stay classy.

I'm getting nervous now. Decisions for my interview date come out on the 28th :scared:
