This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I wouldn't, but that's all personal preference.

Haha. Bah. No celebrations here. Same score as last time, but a more preferable breakdown... So all is not lost and maybe something was gained... Who knows.

It's all good man, control the things that are in your hands and don't stress about what isn't. I'm sure you gave it your best shot just move on and hope for the best.

So true, man. Now I'm just knocking out a few additional secondaries and them I'm going to put the decisions in their hands, but in the meantime I'm not going to sweat it... much... haha.

*Hug* 🙂

Don't worry, I'm not beat up that bad...

Thanks for the reply to my post man. And I like your positive attitude lol. I find that doing secondaries is a great way to forget any downsides to my application. Just gotta plow through them like a horse and get to those interviews!

Speaking of which... has anyone ever thought about what the interviews wudve been like for all these TV doctors?? Imagine an interview with a pre-med Dr. House.

@ noshie: wow congrats!! hopefully i can get an MD interview at my state school too. bout to call them up this week and convince them not to over look my app. will see how that goes

@ mightymoose: sorry to hear that man, but if u were able to get an interview with the stats u already have, then u still in a good position. at least u dont have to stress about it anymore and can just move on

Woulda been boring. He was just super smart. His leg didn't get messed up till later on and that made him all bitter.

Thanks everyone! You guys are the bestist... 🙂

MightyMoose! At least you didn't do worse than your last MCAT... There are lots of people that get the same score and get in. Don't worry about it, just keep pushing forward, that is only one small part of your application. 😉 Glad to see that you are not too upset, there's no crying in pre med. Hehe.

I was bored so I decided to start looking at what day of the week last year's interviews were handed out for schools I haven't heard from yet. I didn't want to go find dates for schools I didn't already have (although they are in here somewhere) so I'll let other people add to the list. I just went by the first reported interview invite from last year

Monday:
CCOM (8/24)
KCOM (8/17)
PCOM-GA (9/21)
UMDNJ (8/17)

Tuesday:
None

Wednesday:
Nova(7/22) [year before it started on 8/15 - friday]
Touro-Ca (8/5) [likely because they do it by snail mail, probably went out earlier]

Thursday:
PCOM (8/27)
Western (8/27)

Friday:
NYCOM (9/11)

So basically it seems like Mondays were the big day last year for interview invites followed by midweek. Tuesdays get the shaft  Of course this could correlate in absolutely no way with this year but I was bored and I wanted to do something other than study for my final.

You still have to take that final! I thought you did that already... Yeah, DbDan... You need a job bad! Haha. Any word on that job??

Also, you just made my day super depressing due to the schools that may send out interviews today on your chart... Can't wait until this Monday though!

 Final is tonight at 6:30. I don't anticipate any new schools starting to hand out interviews this week aside from Nova who has allegedly told people other than myself that they are going to at the end of the week. Touro-NV came on a Thursday for me last year but I was late in the season. As for work, I chose not to pursue the research job because I didn't want to commute an hr for that kind of pay. It wasn't all that interesting either. I have an interview tomorrow though for a Telemetry Tech job in a new hospital. Sat-Mon night shift so I'll have most of the week off

Mondays definitely look like the big day for invites to start. Hopefully we'll all hear good news come next Monday!

I can add a couple to this list (DMU & AZCOM).

Monday:
CCOM (8/24)
KCOM (8/17)
PCOM-GA (9/21)
UMDNJ (8/17)
DMU (8/9)

Tuesday:
AZCOM (7/27) [no emails though - gotta check your status yourself]

Wednesday:
Nova(7/22) [year before it started on 8/15 - friday]
Touro-Ca (8/5) [likely because they do it by snail mail, probably went out earlier]

Thursday:
PCOM (8/27)
Western (8/27)

Friday:
NYCOM (9/11)

So I woke up this morning only to find 7 secondaries sitting in my inbox... haha

I finished the LECOM one since it's the easiest. Dumb question... but I'm assuming LECOM in Pennsylvania and LECOM in Bradenton send out two different secondaries, right? I ask because the secondary asked me if I was applying to Seton Hill (which I'm not), but I didn't find an option for Bradenton.

Oh one more question... are there any schools which don't require a LOR from a physician with the secondary? I ask because I'm currently shadowing a DO but just started, so I'd like to wait a bit longer to ask for an LOR. I know LECOM only needs the committee packet with the interview, then DO LOR with the acceptance... are there any other schools similar to this?

THanks!

Just got a call from LMU DCOM... Interview number four!!! Its on October 4th (Monday)... I am SO excited to see the campus, I remember when I applied before, it was just opening. Also, they are so freaking nice over there! 🙂 Wow, this has been the best week ever! Hehe. I got a raise at work today too! 🙂

My husband did a telemetry tech job at a hospital when we were in undergrad. He loved it! He worked overnight though so that kind of sucked. But other than that, it was a very educational experience for him... You are going to be working on the weekends overnight? That would be great for your interview schedule! Hope you get it!

Yep, LECOM-E and LECOM-B send out two different, but similar, secondaries.

Congrats Noshie!

You really do get everything first. I hope they call me. This has been a really slow week.

Haha, Thanks! Yeah, I am starting to realize how awesome it was when I got married and changed my last name from something that started with an N to something that starts with an A! Seems like I get everything first in life now!

I'm sure they will call you! Seems like it is picking up big time... I bet the next few weeks are going to be crazy full of new invites for all of you guys!

I don't know how much merit this will have, but CCOM has their website down all day Saturday the 21st, so it's possibly they are updating status, etc. or they are just doing routine maintenance... I prefer to think of it as updating our status. 🙂 That corresponds very well with the timeline from CCOM last year. So we might be getting invites starting early next week! :xf:

It's a different app. You need to click on the Bradenton link on the left hand side of the page when you are under the "Admissions" tab, then you can click to complete the secondary. 😉

It might be the same app in the end, but, if I recall correctly, they tell you to click the app link through the Bradenton specific link.

so it seems that Touro-CA handed interviews earlier last year. I've been complete since last week of July for this school. Does anybody know when Touro-CA will start giving out interviews for this cycle.

Yeah I just got the Bradenton secondary in my inbox. Whoo!!

I'm actually excited for all these secondaries! Tryin to finish as many essays as possible before school starts on the 23rd... AYEE!! 😛

Congrats on your 4th interview invite Noshie! Perseverence pays off. You should write a book when you get accepted! 👍

I just received an email saying interfolio and TMDSAS just recieved my prehealth committee LOR!! Today is a good day!! 😀

Nice, man! You're on your way! 🙂

I just knocked out Tufts secondary and am debating as to whether or not I want to submit my completed Touro - NV secondary...

Anyone been to Touro - NV to see the campus?

For all you WA/OR/ID PNWU-COM's Secondary just hit my mailbox!
That is the last secondary. I've applied to 23 DO schools and I now have a secondary from all of them!!

Let the fun begin!

Yay, you are getting there! Can you see the light yet? 🙄

Haha, I should write a book! A just for SDN book... Title: "Medical School for the Hopeless and Underappreciated"

Sounds like a best seller... No?

so it seems that Touro-CA handed interviews earlier last year. I've been complete since last week of July for this school. Does anybody know when Touro-CA will start giving out interviews for this cycle.

No idea, they communicate via snail mail so they are kinda a pain in the ass. I was complete the first week of July I think and I'm still waiting around. Gotta be patient I suppose...

Hopefully, I'm thinking they will start handing them out next week but I don't think the server down correlates. It went down shortly after interview invites for AZCOM came out at the end of last month too though.

Is anyone else having severe problems with KCUMB's login portal? At one time I could log in but not anymore.

I would answer your question about KCUMB but I didn't apply there, I'm basically only on here because I'm avoiding studying for my final in 3 hrs. I've put in ~40 hrs in the past 4 days, I don't wanna keep reviewing. Stupid ecology and memorization, its not even mechanisms or relevant information that can be related to systems in the body. I wish I would have just done well in this class the first time i took it. I need a 91% on the final for an A, 86% for an A-, 80% for a B+ lol I gotta get this A though. >.< Failure is not an option!

I want more interview invites :boom: lol

Good luck, man. I remember that class having a LOT of info. I especially despised the plant ecology sections...

I think I might take my final in Foundations in Public Health tonight as well... It all depends on how much studying I get done between now and then. I'm at work though, so I'm guessing not much. I might just wing it.

Love the book title Noshie

Goodluck on ya'lls finals dbdan and moose! Ecology... ughh 👎

Quick question... LECOM schools have preference for the Appalachian region right? Has any non-regional SDNers gotten interviews to these schools?

I just submitted both Bradenton and Erie secondaries and hope I get an interview soon!! 😀

We did most of plants before the midterm. I've got that part down 94% on the midterm so I'm confident in that. This test is on (regurgitating to see if i can remember)

Ferns
Gymnosperms
Angiosperms
(thats all for plants)

P. Porifera
P. Cnideria
P. Platyhellminthes
P. Nematoda
P. Annelida
P. Mollusca
P. Arthropoda
P. Echinodermata
(including specific examples and traits of subphyla as well as level of organization, symmetry, digestion, gas exchange, circulation, nitrogenous waste, support system, special attributes)

Almost forgot! P. Chordata (including jawless fish, bony and cartilagenous fishes, craniates, Mammals, Urochrodates, Cephalochordates, etc.)

Species Interactions
Marine Biomes
Terrestrial Biomes
Population Control
Abiotic and Biotic Factors influencing Zonation
Energy Flow and Nitrogen Cycle

I think I covered all of it.... FML

Ecology was the reason I switched my major to Sociology 🙄

I remember how much fun all of that goodness was... Yeah, it's always nice when they give you the plant ecology up front, so the class has nowhere to go but up.

Good luck, man.

LECOM has never mentioned having preference for the Appalachian region. I am from the Northwest and already had an interview. Also of the 37 people at the interview only 2 were from PA. They said about 25% of their class comes from PA and the rest out of state.

Ah ok. For some reason I thought they did.. I think I read it on SDN. Just goes to show you can't trust anything on the internet, who would've thought?! 😛

Thanks for the post!

I think you may have been thinking of Pikeville or even possibly LMU, although I don't think their preference is quite as strong.

Dominated the final and secured my A, now to relax and head off to Cancun on Friday. With a quick pitstop at a hospital for a job interview on Thursday afternoon 😀

Whooo! Congrats! :woot:

The biggest downside to taking botany/ecology is you'll never look at plants the same again. I literally still walk around campus looking at leaf veinations and determining if they are monocots or dicots. :lame:

Goodluck at your interview, and have a great time at Cancun! 👍

Congrats, man!

I decided not to take mine tonight... I figured I would rather watch "24 Hour Kitchen/Restaurant" or whatever it's called. Needless to say, no test for me tonight... There is always tomorrow.

ucla has the dumbest letter of rec service everrrrr
sending letters priority (which takes three days just to get it processed) costs $28 per school ugh

Another bruin in the house holla. Yeah I've spent over $200 sending letters with them, telling everyone I know to avoid them like the plague but I guess it's too late for you 👎

same here! one of my professors insisted on using it so i just ended up having them hold all my letters. it's so overpriced!
i'm a bruin but i won't be for long...ucla hasn't even sent me a secondary yet =[

My PCOM file is complete 😛

Hey, DbDan, I thought the dean's certification is like..5 bucks? But they didn't charge the money on my bar account..:meanie:

Nice! Did your email say you were complete?

Do you have anything next to "College Ltr of Recommendation?"

I don't have anything there... Is that were your deans letter went?

No secondary for me either. Bruins are taking over the DO forum! lol UCLA's letter service BLOWS. I knew that from the start so I made all of my letter writers use interfolio and appeased them by having them send it to UCLA's service as well. They had no problem with it luckily.

Same here dude, since some of professor used the LOR service at career center, I had to have all the MDs and DOs send their letters to UCLA too! I'm gonna be broke by the time all my letters are sent out all the schools!!
