This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Touro-NV just hit the inbox. Going to do it in a few.

BTW, Noshie, you said it was online, why the hell is mine a print, fill in by hand and mail? lol

+1 DbDan. I just got mine from Touro too. 5 page app, but NO ESSAY! (thank god). Good luck!

Now, only two I haven't gotten a secondary from are Kansas City Med/Biosciences, and Pacific Northwest COM.

Has anyone else heard from these two slowpokes?

Finally!!! Glad you got it! Maybe we will end up in Vegas together too... Haha.

Remember how I said the online application was broken? Well, they couldn't fix it, so when I called they told me to just fill out the paper application... I did it and faxed it over. You can fax the payment over also if its by credit card. And don't forget to print out the technical standards page that is attached to the email and sign it! Then fax all of it over!!!

They e-mail you an application packet when they actually send it. Its the 5 page app, 3 pages of technical standards w/ signature page and a page for CC auth. Faxed all of that over along with a CV (for job descriptions, etc. and because it has all my conferences and other stuff on it 😉) and auths. Sent letters via interfolio.

FINALLY done with every secondary. I'm going to assume I won't get one from UCF or UCLA at this point. 21 applications submitted (2 interview invites, 19 pending), 4 pre-secondary rejections, 2 pre-secondary pending (likely rejection), 1 withdrawn pre-secondary and I'm officially done as of today. Now to focus on getting at least a 91.6% on my final on Wednesday so I can keep an A in the class; stupid uncurved courses.

For what its worth, last year on this day I had received a SINGLE secondary application and had completed a total of zero. Go me.

Just got Touro-NV as well. I hope already having doctors handwriting is considered a pro and not a con 🙄

surprisingly not as bad as I thought. tested a lot of my strengths. I feel good I think. Don't wanna get ahead of myself hear.

Good to hear, you probably did fine 👍

Now go have some fun tonight, and get started on your secondaries tomorrow!

Regarding LORs, my I had to direct all my recommendors to send their letters to the premed committee at my institution. My university then said they sent the letters through Virtual Evals.

I am wondering for some schools (ie DMU) they require you to send in your letters through mail. Do I need to ask my school to send them the hard copy or would a school like DMU still be able to access that info through Virtual Evals.

I'm just a little confused by this whole process.

Thanks for any help! 🙂

I "Think" that the schools know what schools accept what.....if DMU wants a hard copy, I'm pretty sure ur undergrad institution will send a hard copy. Im pretty sure mine does

Just got a secondary from KCUMB! I have submitted 22 applications, received 21 secondaries. The last secondary I am waiting on it Pacific Northwest!!!

A friend just mentioned that some DO schools have a 30 day return policy for their secondaries. is this true?

You are a superstar this year... I still have a few stray secondaries that I need to get. Right now I am sitting on University of Miami because it is a really long secondary... They ask for separate essays on experiences in the areas of Fine Arts, Sports, Journalism, Travel and Hobbies... How annoying. And their secondary invite basically said that if you don’t have a GPA around 3.7 and an MCAT around 32 then you are likely not going to even get an interview here and should consider not filling out the application. Wow. Still going for it though. Call me crazy.

Then I have a hold on University of Arizona, they are still deciding whether they want to even send me a secondary, so that’s probably a rejection. And I have yet to get a secondary from KCUMB!!! They must screen secondaries now because if not they would have sent them out all at once to everyone that applied. It seems like they send out a few each week...

Kill that final!!! 🙂

DMU will accept letters electronically from Interfolio (that's how I sent mine), so I would think you'd be able to send them from Virtual Evals too, although I'm not familiar with them.

quick question. what is up with KCOM asking for old sat scores? I mean a) I did terribly(i didnt do crap in HS and never tried) If I rememer correctly I scored an 840 but I don't remember the breakdown whatsoever?

and b) they ask for a response as to why you wouldnt know them! and I know its not gonna look good if I say I don't remember.

is there any place where you can look this up? I mean I took them twice in 2003 that was friggin 7 years ago

You can get them from collegeboard.com. I took mine in 2004 and my scores were still available there. 🙂

You can look them up on collegeboard.com if you can remember your login. I'm sure you can find out over the phone too. I took the test twice also. I also took Math 2C twice and SAT II writing and physics. Bleh. Stupid SATs

Congrats on finishing it! I'm sure you did a great job.

I have run into a number of MD and DO programs that have 30 day turnaround requirements.

you people are 2 nice, you must not live in NJ

OMG secondaries take 4 ever!!!!!!!!!!!!... how much do you guys proofread them and stuff. KCOM has 2 questions for 500 words(im sure you know) How much time is normally spent on them. I am thinking I can do 1 secondary per day.

also what is up with some schools that dont screen applicants that havent sent me thier secondary yet like lmu or wcu or umdnj!!

There are alot of schools that ask really similar questions. You can re-use essays once you get into the process. I had alot of essays that were still relevant from last year also. Once you get the hang of it you could probably knock out 2-3 of the shorter secondaries a day depending on how much you are working on them.

guys, i'm submitting my AMCAS today; i'm waiting on my MCAT retake so i'm looking for one school that for sure does not screen.

My previous mcat is 22

preferably in the midwest (but anywhere is fine, i just need to know i won't be screened)

gwu for sure doesn't screen, they send before you are even verified. NYMC sends before you are verified as well

Pretty dead in this forum today.... like... all day... must be hard at work on secondaries

For the CA people (mega, dan, zeta, etc), did you guys submit the secondaries for UMDNJ and MSUCOM? Is it a waste of money or is it worth a shot?

I submitted UMDNJ but I was born in NY so I'm hoping that they see I've got some ties to the east coast. I didn't bother applying to MSUCOM because of their ridiculous requirements. My academic letters are from professors who I had 2 years ago, I don't want them to have to fill out a new form for me. One of them isn't even in the states anymore, he moved to the netherlands.

Nah, I only applied to 6 DO schools (Nova, Western, DMU, LECOM-E, PCOM, and KCOM)..😛

Yea, right 🙄

It's SATURDAY, DANNNNNNN! :meanie:

 Some of us have to work and wanted to be entertained by having people to talk to. Instead I was stuck sitting in front of the computer at work with no patients after 12:30 and we closed at 5! 😱 I was SO bored lol

yeah, I just started at work! so start typing people!

do you guys think it's okay to cut/paste some stuff from the works/activities list in the primary into the essays for the secondaries? i phrased a lot of my research/volunteer stuff pretty well in the primary and iono how to rewrite it in the secondary essays without making it worse lol

that shouldn't be a issue, I'm using my primary stuff and just adding more details if necessary.

I didn't apply to either. MSUCOM is definitely a waste of money and I don't think UMDNJ is that far behind.

does anyone know how long it takes to get an interview invite from lecom-e and lecom-b?
i turned in my secondary about two weeks ago and it's been complete for about a week...but it says i'm under review on the website still...is that a bad sign or is it still too soon?

also...i know this is the osteopathic thread but has anyone here applied to virginia commonwealth university?

I applied to VCU. Right now, I have the "we would like to consider your file further" status.

i haven't submitted the secondary yet but i'm surprised i got screened in since i am out of state. what are their cutoffs for giving secondaries?

I'm not sure exactly but I think it's just a low numbers screen. I was surprised I got the secondary too as I am OOS and only have a 27Q MCAT.

Did VCU send you an email or did you check the status online yourself?

I checked the status site but they also sent me an email (it just said that I should check my status because it was updated in the last 24 hours).

Never mind, I just checked my status. It's INCOMPLETE, which is weird because I've sent all my stuff long time ago..I sent an email but I'm also going to call them on Monday..

Thank you for reminding me 😛

Man, Touro-NV's secondary is so stupid. Hardly any space to write in work/volunteer experience. Why even bother?

[EDIT]Not liking the CC authorization form either...something about sending all the info someone would need to blow up my credit card hundreds of miles with the USPS bothers me.

It says you can attach a page for more space. I just wrote "see CV" in the responsibilities, etc. and attached my CV.

You can send a check instead of CC auth. You could also fax it.

Haha! I AM hard at work on secondaries. ALMOST done with ALL of them.

I'm ready for another invite.

I called and bugged the DO about my letter which is STILL not done. He agreed to write it in MAY!!! I really NEED that letter. Any advice? Should I just keep being a squeaky wheel?

I guess I won't submit my secondaries for those schools, but good luck Dan
