Hey guys...Vanderbilt confirmed the receipt of my primary on 7/21 but I have yet to hear anything....is that weird or should I expect to wait longer?

I wouldn't freak out. Since they screen their primaries, it'll probably take a little longer to work through them. I have no idea if a month is considered long or not though.

Cole, you are certainly reassuring, although I just wanna hear from my last big secondary....
thanks tho.

btw, madskillz, I am a 41Q 3.91, and I havent heard anything (i dunno if a screen would weed me out, but i doubt it unless a rec was bad, which I also doubt)

hopefully this reassures you. I think we just gotta wait until their reviewer processes us

Interview! Via snail mail no email... the letter was dated Aug 16th and I'm in MA

Also, I was in the second batch of "We got your application" emails that was sent on Aug 2nd...just FYI

Interview here too!! Got the "we have your application email" on Aug 2.

Word of advice to everyone: Don't schedule your interview during a big football game. I didn't know that a big name school is coming to town the weekend before my interview, and the hotel prices more than doubled/many hotels didn't even have available rooms. Also, none of them will take the educational discount the nights before/after the game. 🙁

call and ask to reschedule. Judy is EXTREMELY nice.

is anyone else interviewing/has interviewed in the past with Dr. Kirshner, Professor of Neurology and Professor of Psychiatry? Interestingly, I wrote my PS on a psych patient..hopefully won't get grilled to hard...

anyways, going up on Oct. 1st

I have only seen him on the Neuro service FWIW.

I was looking at the interview schedule; what are the interviewees who interviewed in the morning supposed to do from 1:15 - 2:15 PM?

I don't know. I scheduled my interview at 9am and I am confused about that too. I also don't know what I am supposed to do between 10am and 11:15.

I scheduled mine for 10am, and I kinda regret it since we have to be there by 8:30am anyway. It's going to be a verryyy longgg hour and a half wait for my interview.

All taken care of, thanks!

For those of you who just received interview invites, did you also recieve an email? I know it says that you will only receive and interview invites via snail-mail, but some others also received email invites (in addition to their snail-mail invite), so I was just curious🙂

No email not really sure what that was all about...

I'll be there this week! Look forward to meeting you. Any interview tips specific to Vandy?

I did receive the email followed by the paper letter a few days later, which was a copy of the email (even before my LORs were released). I know a couple of others also received an email, but I'm not sure why. The subject of the email was something like "Interview Invitation to VUSM - Email followed by hard copy." But I don't know if anyone has gotten an email after that first batch.

Hey! I didn't take a resume. The toughest Q I got was "Have you ever had experience with cheating or plagiarism?" It was very laid back actually.

Snail mail invite today! Confirmation email was 7/21

Omg that gives me hope! I was also from the 7/21 group but it seemed like everyone else had heard earlier which led me to think it was a silent rejection. Here's to hoping for something good in the mail!

Yea definitely. I'm from the 7/21 group too and I was thinking for sure a rejection letter was coming my way. I guess time will tell tho.

invite in the mail today! i was beginning to lose hope and then the envelope appeared : )

Interview invite today! Letter dated August 23rd. I was complete on August 9th, took way shorter than expected. . . They want an autobiography for an essay!?! Here we go. . .!

Ceasar where do you live? I was complete on the 10th....now I'm getting nervous......

Edit: Correction. Went to the mailbox. Good news🙂

1st interview invite!!!
Can someone please post the link for the online login. I'm away from home at school and my baby cousin somehow managed to mangle my letter 😱. Good thing I got the user ID and password immediately it got there...

Thanks😀

Interview invite for me too! Got the complete email 8/10, letter is also marked 8/23, I live in CA.

This is my first interview, too. But I decided that I would rather interview early than make it later in the year just to have experience. Mine is on 8/20.
?

when we should write a thank you letter after interview? ASAP or next day is better ? Thanks!

Interview invite here 👍
Application received on 8/10. Letter is dated 8/23. Received the letter 8/27. I'm in WA state. After writing ~15 other secondaries, the Vandy one doesn't look too bad. I'm actually looking forward to the autobiographical statement.

Got mine in the mail today. Postmarked August 23rd and was acknowledge on 8/2. I got scared at first because it came in a regular sized envelope. haha

Has anyone gotten a rejection yet? This was a reach but I was complete on 7/21 and just want to know 😀

Had my interview yesterday. Great impression so far. Nashville is a VERY friendly city, and I met some great people there (med students introduced themselves to me and we talked). I would definitely love to go.

Hey that's great to hear. I am interviewing late September, so I am excited!

hey guys,

new member here. i got the secondary/interview invite last wednesday, and i'm still currently working on it. i feel like i'm taking forever, and i was wondering how many days after receiving it you guys sent it back.

also, for those who have seen the interview schedule recently, are there still a lot of dates available in sept/early oct? when is the latest month to schedule an interview?

thanks a lot for your help!

i spent like 3 days on it but if you're taking a few extra days to complete it, don't rush it. most important thing is that you make the essays the best that they can be. you already have a guaranteed interview after all! there were a lot of available dates so don't worry about that either. there were available ones 7 days from when i tried to schedule up through the end of november. they interview 4 days a week so there are a lot of slots. take your time, perfect your essays, and relax!

I'm happy I applied to UC San Diego. Writing that autobiography sure helped me focus the one for this secondary. Good luck with all your essays! 😎

In a truly shocking development, I was rejected today. 😛

Complete 8/10.

I was rejected too, snail mail, complete 8/2.
Not too surprised at this point, you guys are all such tough competition 🙂
I was really expecting to have to wait in agony much longer than this, so in a way I'm pleasantly surprised.
Best of luck to those still waiting for the next step!
