Waitlisted. There's still hope. Does anyone know how large their alternate pool is and if they rank the list or re-evaluate as needed?

I had three friends who were all alternates last year, and each one was eventually accepted. Don't mean to get your hopes up, but I think you have a good shot.

I hope anyone who had concerns over the previous financial announcements have had them relieved by now. It was a vast exaggeration for the most part and was largely promoted in order to point out how detrimental it is that the state cut funding for a school that is steadfast in its mission to improve healthcare in NC and largely serves the poorest constituents in the state. The income for most medical schools come from inpatient hospitalizations, radiologic imaging, procedures, etc. at their attached hospital. Brody is unique in that it does not own its attached hospital (Vidant Medical Center) and most of ECU's owned clinics serve 90%+ medicaid/medicare patients. While Vidant does help Brody out because of this deficit, support is also needed from the state. Vidant Medical Center, the site of clinical training for Brody students is seeing substantial growth and is becoming a truly state of the art facility. Level 1 trauma center, one of the largest hospitals in the state (soon to be the largest), brand new childrens hospital and childrens ED, and just broke ground on a $170 million dollar cancer hospital set to open in 2018 (just in time for your clinical rotations if you are an incoming student 🙂 ). In addition, the allied health sciences campus along with the school of dentistry, nursing, physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy is currently breaking ground on a new health sciences student center for students of medicine and allied health. It will include a new gym, food court, locker rooms, etc. right beside the Brody school of medicine.

My experience at Brody has been amazing and I hope you all realize what a fantastic and unique opportunity it is to attend as well. I can't wait to see what the future holds for the school and the health of eastern NC.
