Hey guys, have any of you filled out the FAFSA for Howard yet?

Just a quick question: since we have all applied for the 2015 entering class, does that mean we use the 2015-2016 FAFSA application, or do we use the 2014-2015 one?
You got accepted ? ????
Lol 15-16 since it is the year you will attend
Sorry to be mean but common sense is needed in Med School!

So I haven't gotten a secondary acknowledgement or any other notice since my invite for a secondary. I submitted my I 9/5 and silence since, and I even sent in an update. Very confused..

I used the 2015-2016 one since that is the academic year the financial aid will apply to.

Hey, how long did it take you to hear back after you interviewed? I interviewed early December and haven't heard back yet, and they say they notify applicants every 15th of the month.

I interviewed Nov 4th and heard back Dec 19th. I know the waiting is rough but unless you receive an outright rejection, you are still in the running. Hang in there!

Nice. I am sure you still have some chance since they're done offering interviews until April. I, too, retook my Mcat last August. I know they look at all MCAT scores so not sure if they focus on the most recent one or not.... Best of Luck.

They aren't offering any more interviews until April?

No, I meant that they are giving out interviews continuously until April, which is the month where all of their interview spots are taken. You can hear anything from now until April about possible interview invitation... Sorry for the confusion.
Don't mind me just panicking lol the radio silence has scared me up till now. Thanks!

My MCAT dates were only 4 months apart so I'm sure they will look at both, just wondering if they would consider this new one as well/would it better my chances?
any improvements is good. For me, I took my first one in August 2013, end of my sophomore year, did terrible on it and retook it in August 2014 because I couldn't find any time to squeeze in the test until that date. I really hope they will focus on the most recent MCAT scores regardless how long you waited to take it a second or third time.

So I'm confused. They emailed me recently saying my app is on hold until I get letters of recommendation from 2 science professors, but I did my letters of rec via committee letter, which I thought negated that requirement.

To an extent yes. But if done rightly a committee letter should include statements from your science instructors. At least I know mine did.

I was asked to pick from 2 available dates 10th or 18th of March. I have been confirmed for 10th.

How many students do they interview during their interview days (Tuesday and/or Wednesday)

Hey guys,

So I just got an email saying that my application is out of committee, and that a decision has been made on my application. But they told me I couldn't call until MArch 1st, after the dean had signed off on the decision.

Anyways, do you guys think they would make me wait for that to happen if it were a rejection or wait list? Or do you guys think that it means an acceptance? I Just want to know if anyone has any insight on the process.

I haven't heard from Howard since they confirmed the receipt of my secondary back in November. I hope I hear good news from them soon!

Does anyone know if the school's interview days (the 10th and 18th of March) are already filled?

They start sending rejection emails soon, right? =\

According to the email I received from them, yes.

"Howard will send a blast update email in March. Final (reject) emails will begin to be sent in March (if not earlier) and will continue through June as we release applicants."

Did the same email said they will send no interview granted emails end of February ?

This waiting game is really not fun. I keep checking my phone for an email almost every 5 minutes.:bang::boom:

I am not sure if they are still sending interview invites for the 10th and 18th of March, who knows...?

It's march 3. Have you heard back from them?

Just got this at 12:39 AM , lol robot mass email much !!

With sincere regret, I must report that the Harvard Medical School Committee on Admissions has completed its selection for all programs of the class entering in August 2015 and has not been able to offer you a place.

We are grateful to have received applications from so many students like you with excellent intellectual and personal qualities. This year, over 6000 students applied for the 165 places in the first year class at Harvard Medical School, and we interviewed over 800 candidates. With so many more talented and highly qualified candidates than we could admit, the Committee on Admissions faced a very difficult task.

Although you may be disappointed, my personal wish for you is that you find fulfillment studying medicine at another fine medical school. Perhaps we will have the opportunity to work with you in the future as a resident or fellow.

We thank you for applying to Harvard, and we send you our very best wishes for a successful career.

Sincerely,

Robert J. Mayer, M.D.

wrong forum? lol

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but what is the format of the interview, 1 on 1 or panel; and can anyone post clues to the kind of questions we should expect...

1-on-1 with a faculty member. My interview was pretty low-stress. Be prepared to discuss just about anything on your application, especially any activities that show a commitment to the underserved. Best of luck!
