For those of you waiting for secondaries for this school or others, I wouldn't worry too much.
I know the tendency to look at the application cycle as strictly linear is rather tempting (rolling admissions etc), but you have to understand that these applications generally go out to a series of different individuals, the time it takes for a given reviewer goes through an application is highly variable.
It's kind of like trying to choose a check-out line to wait in at a busy grocery store -- the length of a line is important sure, but so is the speed of which the cashier scans your items.
Don't worry about technical issues too, if the school considers you a good fit, they will give your application its due consideration when the time comes.
All of this applies to IIs as well.

I got the secondary today too! Funny that I called last night and left a message about not receiving the secondary. Then received the secondary today....

FINALLY got a secondary! MSTP!
since graduating college, i volunteered at a hospital and shadowed a doc. should i include this under the health-related question and say nothing for the "new information question" OR do i mention my new clinical stuff in the "new info" section .....

I didn't feel bad, it has only been 6 weeks since we submitted our primaries!! What really changed in that short of time??
Would someone mind looking at my "passport style" photo and tell me if you think it's professional enough? I've submitted it to all my other schools, but Emory sounds so serious about it on the application. I'm away from home and won't have access to professional clothes for a few weeks.

Yeah, I might have to retake my photo to match their standards. They were very clear that it could only be indoors, while I took mine against my white wall outside.
I think a plain outside wall would be ok. I think they mostly don't want pictures of people leaning against trees and stuff.

That sounds fine. While they sound a tad anal, I think they just don't you to be holding a cat or a baby or something like that.
I would assume so, considering course offerings for next Spring haven't been announced yet at almost all undergrad colleges.

I chose to focus on just 2 of my experiences and go into a little more detail about each of them. Just my 2 cents though.
Not necessarily. I restated them but used it as a chance to talk about the progression of my experiences, what it was like to be involved with certain things concurrently, etc.
I felt they wanted a comprehensive thing of all health related experiences in one place so that's how I went about it. No hard rules with these things
Volunteering and shadowing were already most meaningfuls in my primary so I just added a tiny bit about each.
Then I went into other things that weren't in my primary, and related them to why they would make me a good doctor.

I don't think so. I mentioned early health experiences because I thought they were important for my developing interests and motivations for other activities. It also adds a little more to things they already clearly see on the primary. Just my thought on it though.
I've also been including something from high school to show early and sustained interest in medicine. My experience, however, was a bit unique in that it was a high school class that helped us become licensed certified nurses assistants, had us volunteer for 2 months as CNAs, and then volunteer at a major, regional trauma hospital.
I think if you can explain why it's relevant, it should work. Especially since their prompt is so open ended.
Just submitted this secondary today. It says on the status tab that they don't have my MCATs, but on the MCAT tab it says that they do have it, even if it's not reflected on their status tab. And i got an email saying my application is complete. Soo, i think they are still having technical problems but are still able to move things forward.

Does Emory have a large focus on public health? Do they not like a research focused applicant? My only health related experiences are MRI volunteering and EMT, would it be wrong to talk about research that is clinically related (as in creating new therapies against bacterial infections)? Any current student opinion have an opinion on this?
For what is is worth, I talked about research in my application as well.
From what i've seen on their website and their mission statement i understand them to value public health and research. They have dual degree programs in MPH and one for clinical science research, so it seems like emphasizing one, or both, in your app would be appropriate. I did both. And that's my unsolicited advice for the day as i am not, yet, a current student 🙂

No, not that one because my research didn't specifically deal with "human health". I believe it was the "why emory?" one
I did an internship at Emory's Medical School and they're definitely focused on both research and public health, as the CDC is literally next door to the medical school!
So i just added a emory which i saw on this forum has not sent out all their secondaries. All my stuff has been verified and all. Will i be considered early app still? or will i get my secondary in like a month? idk how this works

@texaspremed1 My secondary was sent over a week after they received my primary (primary presumably received 1 July, received secondary 10 July). Welcome to the nebulous process that is med school admissions.
I was complete 7/2, they sent my secondary 7/10, and it disappeared in my inbox 🙁 I called today thinking I still hadn't received a secondary.... ugh..... however they told me that even if I turned it in in a few weeks that it is still verrrrryyy early so everyone can chill. 😉
For the curriculum question, do yall think they want us to list actual course names? Or can I just say "I plan to finish up my degrees" because I feel like listing my fall courses is redundant when they're already on AMCAS and I honestly have no idea what specific classes I'm taking in the spring
Out of curiosity - is anyone else bothered by the 'you could be one of us' thing on the front page? Lol 😛
