That's what I've been thinking 🙂 I'd rather have no news for now even though the wait is driving me crazy. Thanks for all of your support! 👍

Just got accepted! First try. Interviewed Dec. 1st. This is so surreal. I didn't feel too hopeful, so I had already spent some time critiquing my application and figuring out parts to improve on including an MCAT retake. Good luck guys and keep your chin up!

Congrats! Have you heard of any other acceptances?

Has anyone who has been rejected have their UNM Application site (somadmissions.health.edu) been removed? I usually check it once every couple of weeks just being neurotic and I went to check this morning it says my page has been removed... That can't be good. Guess ill just wait for an Email...

Just checked, mine isn't there either. :scared: I'd like to believe they're just having technical difficulties...hopefully...

Can someone who's been accepted let us know too? Yikes.

Mine says the same thing!!! I hope it's just maintenance on the site....Would this be any indication of a decision? Hmmm could be concerning.

Mine's like that too. I'm sure it's means nothing.

Mine is back up. I'm sure it was just site maintenance... It's Sunday, let us not fall prey to neuroticism. Go have a margarita or go for a run and forget about the activities the UNM adcom may or may not be involved in haha

Mine is back up too. Haha. Neuroticism...my gift...my curse...more so a curse lol.

Does anyone know what day the admissions committee usually meets?

And does anyone know if they only review one set of applicants (1 interview day) at a time or multiple sets of applicants (1+ interview days)?

Do you mind sharing your stats?

It sounds like the committee sends out decisions every other Friday. The last two people on SDN to get admitted were on January 15th and then on January 29th. My guess is they will send out two more rounds of decisions on Feb 12th and 26th. This will be followed by the final decisions sent early March. I also believe there will be about 20 acceptances sent on this final decision day along with 50 waitlist and then the rest will be rejections..

3.85, 505, non-trad (has worked in healthcare for almost a decade including rural areas of NM = thousands of clinical hours), immigrant (lived in three continents and English is my third language), very involved in the community for years. That's the gist of it.
wow amazing. thanks for sharing and again congratulations

Heh. My goal was 510+. I hadn't taken biochem when I took the MCAT. I thought I wouldn't be competitive with a 505, so I almost didn't apply this cycle!
505 is definitely competitive for UNM since their accepted average is around a 28 on the old version of the mcat, and they view the equivalent of a 30 and up the same anyway. 🙂

Feb. 26 was also the day they sent out the remainder of their pre-waitlist acceptances last year if I recall correctly. Really hoping they give us the convenience of knowing before March this year as well...

I'm really hoping we all find out earlier than March 15th also. Last year I heard everyone found out by March 1st at the latest. Not sure about this year with supposedly a record number of applicants, but it sure would be nice. The wait really is hard.

Does anyone else find it odd that an applicant who interviewed on December 4th found out he was accepted before an applicant who interviewed on December 1st? I would have thought UNM reviewed applications in chronological order based off interview date.

It's UNM, nothing they do should be considered odd by their standards...

It's nice to see some more activity in this thread 🙂

Looks like we all could potentially hear back in the next 4 weeks.

I think even by their own admission it's only sort of rolling admissions.. Which is just one more nice way to keep us all guessing, lol.

The every two weeks thing seems to be pretty accurate since the new year though. I heard back I think the 4th or 5th and it looks like it's been every couple weeks since.

Also, I literally laughed outloud at the 505 score joke. Repping 'Burque! Lol

I heard from a couple friends at UNM-SOM that no more interview days are scheduled for this cycle and the admissions committee is still behind on reviewing applications.

I am sure most applicants are scored already. Can't be that hard or time-consuming to draw names out of a hat for the remaining spots...

I wonder then if most people will find out closer to March 1st or March 15th? I guess it's hard to predict...also is it true that each applicant has approx. 200 rankings averaged together to create the final applicant ranking?? That's what I recall hearing on interview day, but not sure if I heard correctly.

One of my interviewers actually explained it to me. He said that all of the admissions committee members meet and discuss the applicants. Each member gives an initial score and then the interviewers try and advocate for their interviewees. The next day they meet again and the admissions committee members can change their initial score. The scores are all averaged and that is your final score. From what I can remember, I think there are 37 committee members but not 100% sure.

I have never heard that. Just that you're scored by each of their factors and then ranked against the others. Could be that 200 people do rank you though. Who knows?

Go Broncos!

So, when you get the news does UNM call you, email you, or both?
From my understanding, it's all initially by e-mail. We get notified by e-mail if we are a) accepted, b) rejected, or c) waitlisted. If waitlisted, unfortunately the e-mail notification doesn't say what the applicant's waitlist number is. It just says the applicant has been waitlisted. And then a letter comes by regular mail (that can take up to a month to arrive in the mail after the first e-mail notification) saying what the applicant's waitlist number is. Unless things have changed, but that's how they've done it in past years. Waiting to hear back initially is hard, and then waiting again to find out what the waitlist number is (if waitlisted) seems even harder.

does anyone know or heard if there have been a lot of rolling rejections this year? I feel like I have heard more rolling admissions than rejections so far?

Keep in mind that people are 100 times more likely to publicly announce an acceptance than they are a rejection... I'm sure more have gone out.

Also I don't think all applicants are members of SDN or are on this thread. Not sure how many rolling rejections there have been so far, but I would guess it'd be similar to the number of rolling acceptances.

Rejected, first time applicant. Very devastated. If anyone is a reapplicant or knows of successful reapplicants, would you mind sharing some general tips or suggestions for reapplying? Anyone please feel free to PM me.
