There’s no way you can actually know which schools are WLing more than normal. Guessing that’s the case at Feinberg since gyngyn mentioned it? If true, I wonder if it also pertains to T20s or just mid-low tier MDs.

Well if the upper tier schools are WL more then, this should mean more ppl coming off their waitlist and flowing down to the lower tier.

That's how I think as well. A few of us started a list of schools that explicitly said they are WLing more, and I was gonna share once it was 10+ schools long, but it never grew, lol.

We can't take that assumption to mean all upper tier schools are doing that. And that flow down also wouldn't if the student that gives up a upper tier seat goes to another upper tier school. Their spot can go to someone on the WL with no acceptances.

None of us knows what to expect, but everyone is being more cautious.

where can i find that lovely list? 🙂

Do you think that this cycle in particular would have more waitlist movement than average given the new traffic rules

It’s hard to say. The instinct is to say yes, but since schools are being more conservative, that also might mean most applicants have fewer acceptances to give up. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I do know of three schools that definitely waitlisted more people this year than in previous years.

Hey, can you DM these schools that you mentioned? Might Tulane be one of those schools? haha

So what is everyones strategy to get off the waitlist?

Wait. One of my schools doesn't want an update. The other might, but I don't have one anyway, haha. It is what it is. If I'm meant to be there, they'll holla at me in May, lol.

Any way to really influence WL changes? I have 3 WL and waiting to hear back from my top choice post interview. 2 of the WL are IS and one of those already gave us our tier rank and MSAR says 16/200 were accepted from the WL at the other school. And the 3rd has a massive WL because they dont really reject people post interview.

UCF USF and FAU?

wait listed 2 MD & 2 DO. still waiting........... time is running out

I'm only on two waitlists and not holding any acceptances. It's such an awful feeling - I wish I could enter stasis until May first haha!

Same here, buddy! Sending good thoughts your way. If the schools take updates/LOIs, send them. Otherwise, just try to keep yourself busy to prevent yourself from thinking too much about the wait.

Today is exactly 4 weeks until May 1st. It feels like someone said it was 6 weeks until 5/1 like yesterday so time if flying 🙂 I mean, I guess it's flying. I keep looking at the clock and the calendar.

Technically, 5/1 is the deadline. A lot of applicants will probably submit their preference few days before that. So expect movement before then by few days

Based on the wording I would say 4/30 at 11:59pm is the deadline, but I'll be sure to have it done before then just in case. LizzyM once said that at some schools 200 people would have to turn down an acceptance before a single WL offer goes out. So, I'm not holding my breath for early news.

Did you see early movement on the school specific threads from earlier cycles?

Yes, the school I am waiting on anxiously shows movement 4/27 consistently every year. I agree that there will have to be a lot of withdraws before offering to WL. For example, the school I’m waiting on so far accepted around 150 even though the class size is 123. Bummer but apparently 2/3 of them withdraw as I have been told by faculty

Hey y'all, my dream school waitlisted me in the middle of my 7 hour drive home. Crushed doesn't begin to describe how I feel. It's my fifth waitlist and I'm still waiting on two schools (thank god) but I'm expecting to enter waitlist season with 5-6 WLs and 0 As. :/

i know you feel bummed right now, but with 5 waitlists your odds look VERY good statistically. do NOT lose hope!!!!

so someone in EVMS got off the waitlist yesterday 🙂))). My hope and paranoia are on all-time high

I assume you’ve stalked all the SDN and reddit threads of EVMS in previous cycles? Have they done this before!!!!

actually, i tried the reddit, but i found that i do not really like the format there, so i have NO IDEA what is going on. And i havent looked at EVMS threads from previous cycles. why, whats there?

Looking at threads from previous cycles can help predict II/WL/acceptance patterns. I haven’t looked at EVMS so I was just wondering if you have.

Great idea , but I don’t want to wind myself up even more , you know ? Plus with the new traffic rules no one really knows for sure what will happen

The DO program I’m accepted to begins in June and I’m not actively looking for roommates or an apartment since I don’t know where my fate will be lol. Anyone in similar situation?

I found roommates for my current accepted school although I’m still on other WL. I assume some of the roommates are on other WL too but better safe than sorry. Plus it’s actually kind of a relief to know that’ll be settled if I end up there.

I'm closing my eyes and praying if I don't get off a WL at least one more classmate will be in the same boat LOL

Does anyone else feel anxious and exhausted from all the waiting and worrying? I've had a hard time being productive lately but still going as strong as I can!
hahaha. oh yeah... I looked at last year thread for EVMS last night, and i saw that they had almost NO in-state movement.... now i am even MORE anxious

What do you mean by "In State" movement?
EVMS says that they sort of have two waitlists, - line for IS applicants, and OOS. IS ppl compete for IS spots, and OOS - for OOS. The class is about 50/50. OOS waitlist has a lot of movement, because people, if accepted to their local schools (which are, of course, cheaper that OOS tuition in EVMS) decline acceptances to EVMS, and that slot is offered to the next OOS person. as far as in-state movement, there are 3 public and 1 private MD school in Virginia: UVA, EVMS, VCU and VA tech. UVA is harder to get into, - they have much higher average scores, etc. VCU is about the same as EVMS as far as average scores for the matriculants. So, IS spots for EVMS that open from waitlists are usually from PPL who either got accepted to higher ranked private schools in other states, or UVA (i imagine, maybe VCU as well, if they were accepted to VCU as well and want to go there).

This is very interesting info! I have never heard of a school doing this before.

What are y'all's gap year plans in the (hopefully not happening) case where that A doesn't come this year? I was thinking of Americorps and/or something in healthcare IT.
