my fellow waitlistees, does anyone else's school facebook page show no changes in members size/a much higher number than class size? my WL school has a size of 123 but the page has 160 lol even tho the school told us half of their accepted usually turn down the offer.
it's not a reliable barometer of new acceptees, because a bunch of the members will be from upper classes to be admins and answer questions.

also a lot of people never leave the group once they decided to commit elsewhere (idk y)

I agree. I know for sure they always end up accepting 2.3x the class size due to withdrawals.

My dear friends, I got a call this morning that I was accepted off the waitlist at my top choice. This process has been hell and I am so thankful for all of your support. I hope you all hear the news that you all so much deserve <3

Congrats!

Hey guys! Do you know when we should be applying for gradplus loans? Right now I'm not holding any acceptances, and my two waitlist schools have a literal 25k difference in terms of cost.

Hi everyone I didn’t know this thread existed until today but I’m currently on four waitlists so I’m glad to have some support here! Here’s hoping this week brings good news

It will bring good news. “Cuz if doesn’t, idk what I’m gonna do.”

Hopping on this thread in hopes to find someone in similar misery. Don't want to give too much away but I'm top 5 on the waitlist at my top choice. Usually there is a lot more movement prior to April 30th at this school and that does not seem to be the case, as it has only moved 7 spots so far. Usually the waitlist number that I started with hears mid-April. Really praying for good news this week or into the next, rather than news that everyone has committed already.

at least you know where you are on the waitlist, the school I am waitlisted for doesn’t disclose ranks. so I’ve been in the dark since mid-March 🙁

I hope our misery can end sometime today, tmr, or the coming two weeks.

Can someone help me with this? I am accepted at school A, and I am on the waitlist at my dream school - school B. Will school B be able to see I have one acceptance tomorrow, and will they be able to see what school I have been accepted at? I have not hit plan to enroll because school A is not requiring it. What are you other guys doing (or not doing) to get accepted off the waitlist at your dream school? I’ve sent an LOI and have not used the choose your school tool yet because I don’t want PTE at school A to hurt my chances at B.

PTE won't hurt your chances. School B can not see where you are accepted only that you are accepted somewhere. Schools take from the order of their list not on who has acceptances because they don't know if that student with an acceptance is waiting to come to their school. This is what an ad director told me when I asked about chances of getting off a waitlist.

Not sure exactly what becomes available to applicants after tomorrow? Are we able to see how many people have committed to enroll at the schools we are waitlisted at or is that just for the school itself to see?

1. Accepted applicants will have two options to select in accordance with each medical school’s specific policies and deadlines: “Plan to Enroll” and “Commit to Enroll.”

(a) Selecting “Commit to Enroll” indicates that the applicant has made a final selection and has withdrawn all other applications, including alternate list offers.
(b) If an applicant selects “Commit to Enroll” to a school, all other schools where the applicant also holds an acceptance or alternate list offer will be notified but will not know the name of the school selected.
(c) Selecting “Commit to Enroll” does not automatically withdraw applications from other medical schools. Applicants must communicate directly with all schools about their final decision according to each school’s specific policy.
(d) If you have a current “Plan to Enroll” selection, please be sure to review your selection on April 30.
(e) Beginning April 30, by selecting “Plan to Enroll,” applicants can continue to interview, remain on any waitlist, and receive additional acceptance offers.

2. The AMCAS tool will identify the applicants making their “Plan to Enroll” or “Commit to Enroll” selection. This applicant-specific information will be visible only to schools where the applicant has a current acceptance or alternate-list position.

As a reminder, applicants with at least one (1) current acceptance will be able to see and use the AMCAS Choose Your Medical School tool. The tool can be accessed via your AMCAS application where you can click on the Choose Your Medical School icon.

Things are so different this year. Ah.

Sent in my LOI. Lets hope #shootyourshot2019 continues to work. I sent an email to a school in late march 2 days before their last interview day saying I would be willing to make the 8 hour drive in short notice to interview and got an II 45 min later so lets hope that karma works this time!

are people here writing letters of intent without other acceptances? I've heard in several places that these are generally viewed as meaningless - would it still be meaningless in this cycle, given all the waitlisting going on?

I did and received an acceptance from that school recently. However, they actively encouraged LOIs. I’m not sure if that’s the case with your school.

do we have to do background check/fingerprinting for each new WL acceptances? or can records be resent to new places? I'm about to do it for the current school im accepted to and might not end up going there and it's $130.

EDIT: I also already did this for a pharmacy tech job like 2 years ago, could i possibly have the company send results or smt lol

how would new schools receive the records? I already did it for a job 2 years ago, can that suffice?

Negative. When you get accepted you’ll get a message from certiphi—the company almost every med school uses—to fill out their online forms. Then it’ll get checked and transmitted once you submit it.

Oh is it organized by amcas then? That would make sense. The DO program I'm in is using a different company but I think I can still send my results online. Thx

It sounds like you have a really good chance! 🙂
