no one disagreed with your comment on diversity in a medical class... relax chief. Thank you for clarifying your point though wish you the best of luck apologize if I came off as rude.
D*** I think I'm use to Reddit were a lot of the times people are combative and you have to be on the defense when you make a point. Sorry for that. Not use to actually interacting with good, positive people on a forum lol. Good luck to you too. I saw you on Boonshoft's wl, I think you still have a great shot. In previous years they usually go through the whole top tier. I'll be rooting for you.

No worries at all lol thanks for understanding🙂 Hope they follow historic trends of getting through the waitlist rather extensivley for the both of us ...hopefully June 17 deadline will lead to many acceptances. Cheers!

yea me too. I kinda figured it wasnt going to happen at this school since classes start on Monday, but I appreciate them sending me an email. This late in the cycle I would rather have closure than be kept hanging with the tiniest amount of hope.
I am 100% blind to both my WL ranks. I am reapplying in the mean time, but I need better resources to deal with the WL uncertainty. I have no closure. Does anyone have suggestions?

It's the worst feeling not knowing where you on the wl, right? I got extremely optimistic feedback about my interview and chances, yet I'm still on the sidelines chilling, not knowing what to think

I have become consumed by the neuroticism lol

@gyngyn to add on here, do you know anything about the waitlist at UCSD? Thank you so much for your help!
They have a new admissions dean. He seems like a nice guy. It's a tough year to cut your teeth on!
All I can say is that movement has begun.

I know exactly what number I am and it’s driving me nuts... I call the hotline about 8 times a day to see if it’s moved and it hasn’t in a couple weeks

So I’m a little confused. The DO school I’m admitted to starts at the end of July the only MD school I’m waitlisted at (my top choice) begins in August and has not shown any waitlist movement on SDN thus far even though historically they have good waitlist movement. Should I contact the school in regards to the move I have to make or should I just wait it out? I would if allowed, still move for the MD school if accepted even late in the cycle but it would obviously be a strain on the finances. TIA

I have the same thoughts... my DO school orientation starts on July 26th and the MD school that I have a chance of getting off the waitlist starts on Aug 11th... if I were accepted to the MD school after classes have started, what happens? Am I allowed to withdraw and go to that MD school?

I have the feeling that you'd probably have to eat the first semester's tuition cost, but I don't know what would stop you from doing that.

Wait it out.
They may feel that it would be burdensome to accept you after starting at another school (especially if there is an equivalent candidate who would not be so burdened).

If I hit the CTE button will I be automatically removed from other waitlists? If not, must I manually remove each individual waitlist? What happens if I don't?

No you have to remove yourself and no one knows. You could potentially have your acceptance rescinded if the school found out.

For those of you who have an acceptance, would you eat your deposits at your current school and with any housing you may have in arranged to go to your waitlist/preferred school?

So I am currently waitlisted at 3 other schools (2xMD, 1xDO) and accepted to LECOM Erie. I have paid the 2K deposit (got a scholarship from my in-town health office so luckily I paid for it using that), but have not signed a lease on a place yet. If I got a call before I matriculate at LECOM from either of the MD schools then I would definitely forfeit my place at LECOM and go to one of those schools instead. If it was a call from the other DO school (NYITCOM), I would have to seriously think about it because its almost 2x as expensive, but does have a better reputation and would allow me to live closer to home. If I got a call after classes start at Erie... that's another issue. I would probably only consider it for my in-state MD school because it's my top choice and not much more expensive then LECOM, but I'm not very financially well off so I have no idea.

Actually, besides putting the acceptance at risk, there is really no reason to do this because schools can run a report (only for their accepted and WL applicants) and see if they have CTE'd or PTE'd elsewhere. If the WL school is playing by the "rules," it would never extend an acceptance to someone who has CTE'd elsewhere, so doing this puts your acceptance with risk with no reasonable chance at a reward (the only possible reward would be if the WL school would actually take you even though it would violate the whole PTE/CTE thing in the first place, and you have no way to know this ahead of time, unless, of course, you ask them! 🙂).

There are no more rules, only suggestions.

Also, what is everyone doing regarding signing leases? I don't have to CTE until July so I don't know what to do.If I sign a lease and I then risk having to break it if I get pulled off of a WL or but if I wait until I CTE then I risk not getting a good apartment. I wish that they made CTE deadlines for every school in like May (with PTE being in March/April) so that we had enough time to find housing especially for those of us moving across the country.

Im still on 4 waitlists (dying of stress but whatever)and I'm starting to reapply. I was waitlisted at each of the schools I interviewed at except the free NYU program, which was a long shot, so I remained hopeful until this past month. I'm wondering if its better to just apply to different schools since not much has changed on my application, I've been working at the same job as a medical assistant and receptionist since last summer when I graduated. Would they still evaluate me for changes in my application? I thought I had a decent application (3.94 GPA and 519 MCAT) but my research was never published and survey based rather than hands on, but I haven't had any luck finding more research yet (recently started looking since I have no acceptances). I guess my main question is do I even bother to reapply to the schools I was waitlisted at or not interviewed at this cycle?
Im in your exact same position...continuing my full-time MA job for a year, no new experiences...Im gonna reapply ugghhh

I'm on two waitlists but I'm opting to wait it out and risk having to apply next summer so I can get more experience/letters of rec/retake MCAT

yup I'm debating on whether or not I should just go ahead and get a lease signed.

Ditto. I'm going to try to get a year of post-bacc courses and volunteering before applying summer 2020. Hopefully that'll add enough changes to my app to at least get an interview again and maybe push me the over edge into an acceptance. But I'm so scared of having to cut so many hours at work and handling everything...

Same. I couldn’t prepare for a MCAT retake while I’ve been sitting on a waitlist. And plus, when I reapply I want to show improvements in all facets. Applications are expensive and you want to do it right.

Why not consider to stay in an extended stay hotel the first month. This will give you time to look for a place. You might even find someone else looking for a roommate. This way, you will not be liable for breaking a lease agreement and it gives you mobility for last min changes. Good luck!

@Harambe. Congratulations! Well done, and second time through the gauntlet.

I'm curious about your comments about folks wanting not to post their WL acceptances on the school specific SDN. Why? Is there a stigma attached to getting an A off a WL? People post all the time when accepted directly. And this cycle, many accepted off of WLs during May at T20s posted.
I feel like it is easier to give up your anonymity this way. People are fearful of that I believe

I can’t imagine that more than one acceptance at a time is going out for some schools this late in the game. I can imagine that admissions officers read school specific SDN threads. I don’t think I’ve posted anything incriminating on SDN, but on the off chance I have, I’d rather not risk the potential of having my anonymity exposed.

Schools will know that you have hit CTE. They automatically get an update that you have selected CTE. Depending on their policy, they may contact you to confirm your decision then remove you from their waitlist.

Is it appropriate to ask your waitlisted schools how many people they have on their waitlist and what your rank is, if they rank??

It depends on what they have previously told you. As long as you are sure you're not asking a redundant question that they have already answered in some way, you should be good!

I really don't understand the urgency to immediately reapply while on WLs. Quoted here are two great examples of the advantages of waiting out this cycle to completion.

So you'll matriculate two years later and maybe you won't be an attending by 30 but who cares. A delayed reapplication that demonstrates significant improvement in all fields where it was needed (received via adcomm feedback) is much better than chancing an immediate reapplication, with essentially the same application, that hopes for a better shake of the dice this go-around.
