How long are you guys waiting for? Same position...
I'm not in the same position as you guys, because the school I was accepted to has on campus housing, but I did have to find housing last minute for my gap years. Depending on where the school is located matters a lot, but if it's a fairly major metropolitan area you can find reasonable housing in 3 - 4 weeks no problem. Lower than that and you may need to sacrifice things such as location or cost, but it's not impossible.

Seconding this. Four of my friends last cycle were accepted to their WL schools after moving to attend their second choice schools (in mid-July), and managed to find housing at their new locations within two weeks. Obviously this is not ideal, but it's more common than you think.

Edit: also a reminder that WL movement isn't exclusively in May. All of these people had entirely given up hope of getting into their WL school at that point.

What did they end up doing about their previous leases?

My school begins first week of august, so i was going to move probably beginning of june

Edit: but it could be later, I would say late June at the latest

Any waitlist movement at SLU?
Also on the WL for SLU (anyone else?) and very confused about the apparent lack of movement as of yet... From what I recall their WL movement has started right on May 1st the last two years. I was also under the impression that SLU was a school that historically experienced a decent amount of WL movement, and in a response to an email back in March their Office of Admissions even said, "The Committee has accepted a significant number of applicants from the alternate list in previous years and plans to do so this year, as well."

Not sure what this means and definitely not taking it well 😅

Same position as well! My DO school starts orientation July 12th and I'm planning on moving there about a month before. My remaining MD WL historically has very little movement though.

I just re-signed up for the Casper exam and I see these Snapshot and Duet video interview things pop up saying I must finish them within 10 days of my Casper and my stress level is just through the roof thinking about waiting for WL, trying not to submit my reapp late, doing all these tests all over again because the scores don't save, only to see that there are MORE THINGS. Ugh.

Those snapshot & duet videos are optional as far as I have been able to determine, but if you wanted to do them it would have to be within 10 days as their offer says.

Wait what the actual f???? What school is this if you don’t mind me asking? Also I’m so sorry that happened, I can’t imagine what a ****show the whole situation was, and med schools are absolute crap for not having their **** together. Like cmon

Hi folks! Random question, but how do people stay on the waitlist for schools until July? I thought a lot of CTE deadlines are in June. Is this assuming they didn't have any A's before? (I ask since a lot of people also comment on breaking leases for apartments near their old A's)

All of my CTE dates were in mid-July; I think it's pretty common.

The classy thing to do would be to offer you a deferral. But they went ahead and said oops nvm. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

my parents fully believe I am not getting in and are pressuring me to reapp, but I'm nervous about reapplying with essentially the same application (but hopefully a better MCAT score will help...?)
When I wasn't in by March my parents had convinced themselves I wasn't getting in lol definitely prepare to reapply! It is better to be overprepared than underprepared (even though it sucks). Hopefully, next cycle will be less competitive AND a better MCAT can do a lot. Still fingers crossed for you and everyone else on this page that we get the A this cycle

Do we really think next cycle will be less competitive? I got the impression this cycle had a huge rise in apps primarily because of the cancelled gap year plans / more time to work on app from COVID
Yea I honestly thought this cycle would have less applicants due to cancelled MCATs/plans. I feel like next cycle is gonna be craaazy bcus ppl were able to take the MCAT, less activities won't be seem negative due to a full year of COVID/cancelled plans.

Yeah the way I kind of think about it is a lot of people applied this year because a) nothing else to do so plenty of time to apply and b) can point to COVID as a reason for gaps in the application. I think reason a will go away for this upcoming cycle because people aren't stuck at home in the same way as this time last year but if anything i'd expect reason b to result in even more people applying than this cycle. but at the same time there really is no way to know & it's all speculation! i can definitely get into the spiral of being concerned about the number of people applying, but for my likely reapplication this upcoming cycle i'm doing my best to focus on how much i've improved and ignore the competetiveness of other applicants! anyways that's just kind of how i think about it lol

According to goro, the general trend for med school applications has been that once a big negative event happens (ex. 9/11), number of applications increases and the cycle becomes more competitive for future cycles. So it’s always best to prep for the worst, BUT I am literally a ball of anxiety trying to figure out wat to do if my WLs dont turn into As 🤧

I can't bring myself to work on re-apps. Idk I have some moments that I am so confident and can't imagine the schools not taking me. And some moments when I remember I'm a piece of **** and everyone's better than me 🙁
Similar feelings, but I have not been confident since April 30. I'm starting to think that something is just really wrong with me after 4 WLs and not a single word from any of the schools.

I'm so on edge and my patients and co-workers can totally tell. And I feel really bad, especially because when I try to explain they don't get how stressful this is. (I work in mental health, so aside from our psychiatrist no one else knows anything about med school).

Just wondering, if I have to reapp and I decide to reapp after a year (so it would be 2022-23 cycle), will the committee letter that was written this year be acceptable?
