for those who have been accepted, does anyone know what 'package' to select in the background check services when you do the immunizations packet and background check?

Does anyone know if both our acceptance and matriculation deposits get applied to tuition?

Same was 2/01, but then we know it’ll be this week. Just a little longer 😩
U haven’t heard back yet? It seems like they’re still on that 5 week timeline then. Was hoping they stayed on the 4 week timeline they had about a month ago. I’m 2/09 so ur decision will give me a good indication 😅

No still nothing 😩

That sucks lol. You’re right on that 5 week mark too. I’m curious to know if they’re still sending out As or we all just waiting for a WL spot at this point. I don’t have an A yet so I’m just hella anxious. Hoping this school flips my luck 😔

Yeah, was expecting 3-4 week given the past few pages on the forum.

Do they send out updates on tuesdays?
From looking at trends, looks like responses happen on Tuesday/Thursday, with some Friday notifications sprinkled in during the holiday month interviews. I was expecting the middle-Feb people to hear back today but looks like maybe Thursday or next Tuesday now.

Any current Joplin students I can connect with? Just received my acceptance and as an OOS, trying to figure out logistics of housing

I also just received acceptance from Joplin. Does anyone know if I can request Kansas City?

WL 2/15 - didn’t prefer a campus, but after my interview I sent a letter stating my preference for KC

Thanks for the encouragement! It’s my top choice so I’ll just wait in the shadows until 7/30. Does anyone know if WL movement is a thing here?
absolutely. My friend got in last year 1 week before classes started. Rough cause he lived in Cali and had 1 week to sort everything but yeah people get off up until classes start basically.

If my Hepatitis B titer comes back negative, can I do the two dose vaccination series or do I have to complete the full 3 vaccine series? Also do in-progress revaccinations work for the matriculation deadlines lol...

You can do the 2 dose series if your medical office has it in stock. They seem less common.

But yes, in progress vaccines work and KCU is accommodating of it.

Hi,

I'm a current 2nd year at KCU-KC campus. Just leaving this here in case anyone wants to DM me or reply here with questions that I can answer.

WL for Joplin campus :,( thinking of applying to the KCU masters program now but don't want to ruin my chances of getting off the waitlist?

is anyone currently living at any of the RBC rentals properties in joplin moving out anytime soon? i would love to connect!

i wouldn't apply to their masters. just wait and see. reflect on ur app if this is ur only wl and no A.
I always get emails about their masters which makes it seem like a lot of people aren't interested so they advertise it a lot!

Received the following email and want to know if writing a letter of interest is a good idea to maximize chances of II.

Your application to KCU-COM is complete and you are in a qualified status, which means you have met our academic criteria. The first review of your application did not result in an interview invitation. The application cycle continues throughout the year, so your application will be reviewed periodically. You will be notified via email if your status changes.

I’ve been on qualified list too. I don’t think they take many people off of it sadly. Also since it’s towards the end of the cycle, not sure the difference a letter would make.

Trying to decide between CCOM and KCU, thoughts?
Hard to properly give advice on this since I attend KCU and have no idea of the feeling about CCOM. But I think if I were in your position just think about the environment (close to home and such). And also KCU does minimum OMM hours compared to other schools (from what I've heard) which is amazing if you're not as enthusiastic about OMM.

My main concern with KCU is that I have heard from other students that the school does not have established rotations set up, and students have had to find their own rotations. Also, I have heard that during rotations, students are not allowed to access patient charts. Do you know anything about this?

KCU has very established rotation sites. They also have many in-house residency options which many DO schools do not have.

my mentor went to CCOM -she and other more recent students have told me it wasn't worth the money they charge. I would only choose CCOM if it was a better location for you - I would personally choose CCOM over KCU-Joplin for that reason alone (but I attend the KC campus and its great!).

I don't know the context from what those students are speaking from but we do have established sites. If you go on the KCU page it shows the states and hospitals we have affiliations with. Finding your own rotations is more so if you want to create your own "away rotations". Meaning you do all the cold-calling and such to make sure you meet the requirements that KCU is asking for 3rd year. But I just over heard that my peers staying in KC now have to find 3 preceptors within 3 weeks for some of their rotations.

Accessing patient charts is likely dependent on where you're rotating. You should look into where/what preceptor specifically.

Majority of your concern is likely linked to specific rotations sites we have. I'm sure other medical schools have that issue too but in the end you just got to weigh the pros and cons. Only you can determine how much of a solid education from any institution you'll get.

I wonder if you might be confusing this school with the newer DO school KHSC-COM?
The names are very similar, and KCU-COM is the longer-established one.
