2023-2024 Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (KHSC-COM)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There are about 20ish spots left. The official class of 2028 group has about 158 members (and this changes everyday as people drop and new people are being pulled from the waitlist). They are able to accept 180 students this year. So if you were previously rejected and later get an acceptance email that means they have exhausted their waitlist and had rejected people too early.
Thanks!

Anyone know how long they give you to do the drug test/immunization/etc
They are very understanding if you are recently accepted so while they encourage you to do it as soon as possible, you just have to send them an email with an estimate and they'll give you more time if needed

Wow thanks! that’s surprisingly considerate, I got accepted Wednesday, already overwhelmed with the short 2 weeks of planning I have,

does anyone know if classes are mandatory?
It wasn't mandatory before but I heard from current student that there’s a quiz you have to do at the beginning of class and after that you can leave? They’re switching from OnlineMedEd to Pathoma based curriculum and it seems like the learning is self-guided and the lectures are more for you to build on what you’ve learned from the platform, so you should attend and bring your questions for the professor as well…

They only had the quizzes at the beginning of class for 1 day since they were testing it. We now have open quizzes that are due the following day before lecture. Not sure if they're going to keep doing that this year. It got kind of confusing during our 3rd trimester because before that, everything was based on professor's lectures. But at start of 3rd trimester, they switched it to where we have to watch OnlineMedEd(OME) and then use professor's lecture as supplement. For 2nd block of trimester 3, they kinda stopped using OME, but some professors used it while others didn't. Some professors would also use Pathoma, while others didn't. They also switched to NBME question bank for our finals, which was nice because when we encountered a certain question, we don't have to think which professor is asking the question and what they're looking for.

the third-party website is saying I have literally until after thanksgiving to do it.... I'm guessing that's not accurate,
I think ill just do it sooner rather than later

Wow! Good luck!
In regards to interviewing, I don’t have much advice, but I recommend atleast starting out the FAFSA form now, so you can get the ball rolling

Turned down the last minute offer in favor for another acceptance I was holding. Kansas just didn’t feel right for me, good luck to those who were offered a seat as your only acceptance. If I didn’t invest time into another school, I would have definitely gone here!
