B. Academic Background and Pre-Medical Course Requirements ​

Choose the appropriate response for each required prerequisite. As a reminder: All prerequisites must be completed with a “C” or better and BEFORE matriculating at the FSU COM.(there is a list of questions about pre-reqs and whether you attended or applied to FSU college (undergrad)

C. Self-Critical Analysis (500 word limit for all).
1. Why are you choosing to apply to the FSU College of Medicine? Please be specific describing what is particularly attractive about FSU COM.
2. What do you feel are your personal and scholastic qualifications for the study of medicine? (optional)
3. If you have previously interviewed or applied to the College of Medicine, what steps have you taken to improve your application? (optional)

D. Additional Questions.
1. In what field/specialty of medicine do you envision yourself working ten years from now? Please LIST no more than three (3) specialties. (500 character limit)
2. Write a short statement describing how you envision using the specialty/ies you listed above to advance our unique mission and contribute to the success of the FSU College of Medicine. (9999 character limit)

For the first question in (D), do we just list the specialties? Or can we also explain our reason for listing them?

At the top of the secondary questions, it states "Please follow instructions carefully; if the question requests a list, please limit yourself to a list." I simply listed the specialties.

Oh my god…I just realized this said characters and wrote it as it’s own 500 word essay in my submitted secondary. How cooked am I. Can I email them or is it a done deal?

it should be fine if you listed the specialties in the first sentence. Me personally I wouldn't worry too much about it. What's done is done you can't control anything about it and just have to move on.

Plus I mean 500 characters should be simple to get your point across without being too ambiguous that's just me personally speaking but take my opinion with a grain of salt

Well I wrote a paragraph for each speciality so I think it only listed one lol. I’m going to try and email them tomorrow and see if I can change it. I’m so mad at myself since I literally prewrote this first and it’s my #1 school lmfao🥲
 
Any people ED still not receive complete email? Submitted secondary 7/17
 
Submitted first day, and received payment link last Thursday, got the email I am complete now.

RD also

Do you mean "Secondary Application Complete" email? Where it says "Thank you for completing your Secondary Application for the Florida State University College of Medicine Early Decision Program. etc etc. Remember that completing the secondary application and paying the fee DOES NOT mean your full application is complete. Review OUR WEBSITE to ensure you have submitted all necessary materials. If you have additional questions. " Just making sure Im not missing an email or something haha. Thanks!

what did u in staters think of that question asking if we have applied to FSU for undergrad? im a gator alum and i denied admission to FSU to go to UF (lol). i dont plan to apply to UF med and would prefer FSU anyways, i just wonder why they asked if we applied for undergrad

Hey there! We ask to allow our IT department to identify your previous FSU credentials so you can pay our fee. We absolutely do not use that question in the way you described; you're choosing to apply to FSU COM now and that's what is important. Hope that helps!

What are you guys writing for the first two questions? None of my other applications ask anything like this, so I don't really know what they're looking for.
 
How long after submitting the payment should you expect the "Application complete" email?
 
When do you guys think IIs will start coming? I check my email constantly for the sweet FSU admissions email 😂
 
Submitted my full application a few weeks ago and just got marked as complete! 😆
 
Should we expect a reply or confirmation email after sending any application updates?
 
last year ED interviews went out the wednesday after labor day...wonder if it will be the same this year

Hey there,

Our team sends a confirmation when an update has been received. At the moment, we are only accepting updates from applicants who have completed applications; that is made clear in our team's response. Hope that helps!
