Had my interview the other day and really enjoyed it! The only hesitation I now have about CDU is that they do not have any cadaver labs for anatomy, and they are all strictly virtual. Does anyone who goes there currently want to share a little insight into how that has been for them? A little worried if that would be a hindrance to the experience. Thank you!
Hi! When I was considering CDU, that was the biggest drawback I could think of. At the end I felt like the good outweighed the bad. From MY experience, we had gateway for 6 weeks, which was like orientation and easing us into our course load. Then we had 8 weeks of just anatomy and physiology. We used an application called Complete Anatomy, which can be downloaded onto laptops/iPads. We also had Hololens once a week, which was taught by a faculty member, basically combined all the high-yield material from the week into a Hololens lecture. An anatomage table is also available for us to practice (do not need to reserve it, as long as no one is using it). Also used Bootcamp which is a 3rd party resource with dissected images.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to message me 🙂

Curious if others who interviewed experienced a distracted/not engaged interviewer? My first interview was like if the person was just trying to get through it as fast as possible. They didn’t even let me ask questions; just said thanks and bye and cut out. The second one was much better and it was a great conversation.
Spoke with my class and many of us had the same experience! Still ended up getting accepted 🙂

ngl even after attending the virtual session- there are still a lot of things that are not a 100% clear to me, is it just me who felt like that.
Few of us felt that way, even at Admit Day. Happy to answer any questions. Just message me! might be a little late to reply since we have a final in a few days 🙂

Same here. I had my interview yesterday morning. The first interviewer was disengaged and slightly rushed, while the second was engaged and easygoing. I chalked it up to them constantly interviewing applications for weeks, resulting in burnout and a monotonous tone. Hoping for the best, though🤞🏽

Thanks! Glad to know it wasn’t just me 😅

I got the LMSA invitation. It was a great session!

I’m strongly considering making the trek from Ohio to visit during the open house. Any others going? Would be nice to connect with others while there.

I wish but I work 😢

I’m Latina and did not get the LMSA invitation so maybe it was selective, an oversight, or I am out of the running.

Do you know if there’s a chance to meet with current medical students during the open house on the 16th? I just registered and will be flying out for the event. Thanks!

For anyone that interviewed, did you get the impression that interviews were blind or closed file in such a manner that they read your essays but haven't seen your grades?

Closed as in they didn’t see anything. If I remember correctly, they stated they had not seen anything and had sort of a script both interviewers went through.

My interviewers told me they were completely closed. They hadn’t seen anything prior to the interview.

Any tips for the interview as in are there specific generic questions or is it more like a conversation? is it open file?

for anyone who has interviewed already, when did you get your interview links? it says it would be emailed 3 days before, but I have not received anything

Can’t remember wanna say I got it a week before. Email them if you don’t get it by tomorrow the day before.

Does anyone know where to find the contact information for the interviewers? I didnt catch one of their names and we went over time. I emailed the school so im just waiting on them responding in the mean time.

I actually agree. I would love to hear about the other things that are not as clear to you. Feel free to pm for this response if you do not want to answer here.

Yes, one of my interviewers was late, and seemed to want to fly by. This caused me to shorten my answers so I could make sure to get through as many as possible and ask questions after, and I really hope that does not harm me. She did, however, apologize and gave me some great feedback and compliments as we talked more about her experience towards the end. So not sure how those weigh each other out as far as influence for admissions, personal rapport vs. giving more material to take notes on about me 🙁

Can you please let me know when you figure this out? My interview was on 10/31 and have not gotten a response on where and how to thank my interviewers.

Curious to know if anyone attended the on-campus open house event today. How was it?
I did! My perspective was that the school seems committed to seeing their students succeed and appear to create a very close community among students and staff. I appreciated that they emphasized human connections and didn’t seem to treat students as just a stat/feather in their hat. I’m glad I went because the interview didn’t really give you much sense of the culture of the school.

Curious what others who went thought?

You’re 100% right in my experience. I attended this school for part of my undergrad and yes, it is like one big family everyone cares about you, I’ve had random staff or strangers do unprompted solids for me that I’ve still never experienced elsewhere.

I knew no matter who I went to they’d be willing to help me and I never felt judged and I always felt like had access to teachers and administrators. I felt that the professors wanted to be there and wanted us to succeed. This school really changed me for the better in regards to my academic ability with the sheer amount of caring and investment they gave me.

I feel like this same aura would also exist at the medical school.

I followed up this morning and got a response saying they don’t give out the information. So I’m not sure how we are supposed to send thank you letters.

There were about 6,000 applicants (as of last week) and the secondary deadline is coming up soon. I wonder how many interview invites are being sent out.

According to their website, they sent IIs from August to December. I would imagine they're close to finishing. Where did you find out they have 6,000 applicants? I find it hard to believe they went from 974 applicants last year to 6,000 in one year.

They said 6000 at the discover CDU event

It was also said on instagram in a story they posted on their account that around 6,000 applicants had applied

MSAR had something like in a previous cycle they interviewed a little over 400 folks when they had less than 1000 applicants. So is the expectation they will keep the interview at about 400 again? Or increase the number of interviews offered given the increase in applicants?

Probably the former. No point in increasing the number of interviewees if they don't have more seats. It's just unnecessary work on their end. Besides, if they did increase their number of interviewees, all that means is the post-II acceptance rate is significantly lower.

Did they say specifically the medical school or the entire programs at the school? I just find it fishy how they go from less than 1,000 to 6,000 in a single year.

maybe it’s because now they’re coming up on their third class so more students are willing to apply? I know there’s a lot of hesistancy to apply for new schools

Yes, it was for the school of medicine specifically. She said it was around 6,200 something students that applied
