2024-2025 Cincinnati

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think you're only committed when you select commit to enroll in AMCAS (and just didn't change the little blurb from what they had before April 30), but could email the admissions office for clarification.
sure but if I confirm this acceptance, I'd have to withdraw from my other acceptance. I emailed but the wording is confusing

do we think that oos acceptances are complete?
No. I got accepted May 2 and have until May 19 to answer. If others got off the same day or later, that means their spots can open on May 19 or later if they choose to not confirm the acceptance

Any idea if there'll be any waitlist movement for us wannabe MSTP students? Cincy is my dream school and I feel like I'm just waiting to have my hopes and dreams crushed on the CTE date . . .

Since the commit to enroll date is in June, what happens if someone drops out of the class after the CTE date but before classes start? I know in past years they've called people off the waitlist in the few days before classes start.. so a little confused

I'd assume they could still pull people off the WL if that happens, but the CTE deadline is in July not June, so there's still plenty of time for people to withdraw before then

ugh the cte deadline for the school I'm going to if I don't get off any waitlists is the first monday of june 🙁(( the discrepancy is so annoying

+1 Just got off the waitlist with an A this week (OOS)!

Does anyone know if there’s a GroupMe for accepted students? I’d love to connect and ask a few questions about the student experience.

Alternatively, if anyone is familiar with the following, I’d really appreciate your insights:
  • Are Phase 1 didactic lectures mostly non-mandatory?
  • What’s the cost of living like, and where do students typically live?
  • Are exams in-house, NBME-based, or a mix of both?
  • Any general thoughts or feedback on your experience at UCCOM?
Thanks in advance!

I'm also just an incoming M1 so take this with a grain of salt lol
- Groupme is invite only, you should either get added by the admin or he'll send you an email with the link. Might take a bit so don't go crazy if its not asap
- yeah lecture attendance is mostly non-mandatory, i think the small group stuff and labs are mandatory but big lectures are also streamed if i'm not mistaken
- there's an apartment complex across the street that lots of M1s live at, but otherwise students live all over the city. Clifton isn't the best area so that's something to take into account, and UC main campus is also right there, so lots of undergrads live in that area too. some even choose to live in NKY, so it's really your preference. here's UC's COL estimates for each year: link
- pretty sure it's a mix, but i'm like 95% sure the have at least some NMBE style. don't quote me on it though lol
feel free to DM me if you want to chat more!

Hey, thank you so much! I appreciate this.

Sorry--another question I had, if you don't mind, is how is Cincinnati for competitive specialties? I like pretty much everything about Cincinnati but the school I am currently on PTE for has a slightly stronger match profile (though both are strong), so I just wanted to see if this was ever brought up.

Tons of research funding, has residencies for every specialty at their home medical center, and is right across the street from one of the best Children's hospitals in the country. You wouldn't have any problem finding opportunities for mentorship or research.
