I accidentally already assigned the max 5 letters to Einstein but didn't see that they required a letter from a faculty member of your major department. I ended up getting one after I realized, but now I have 6 letters total. Should I contact the admissions to let them know that I've added or should I just not assign the 6th letter? If I assign it should I note it somewhere that one of the letters should be disregarded since their max is 5?

For the question about employment during the academic year, are people planning on writing a essay/telling a story about their job(s), or just briefly explaining to answer the question?

I kept it brief, just explained my role and said why I was working

For the unique life experiences essay, would it be a smart idea to just combine the diversity essay and adversity essay that I prewrote? Not sure whether to focus more on the diversity part, or actually do 1/2 diversity and 1/2 about a major challenge I got over.

If you are a double major, do you need a rec letter from each major?

Is anyone leaving the "Please use this space to tell us anything about yourself that you would like us to know" prompt blank? Still a little confused about the consensus for optional additional info prompts.
I have the same question. The SLU secondary also has this question but they say you can include why you want to go to this school, so I was thinking about doing the same thing for this one. My thought was that by talking about why you want to attend the school you'd also be mentioning values that align/something about yourself, but I'm not exactly sure if that applies.

Ditto on this...I was also thinking about combining my diversity and adversity pre-writes, but I'm not sure how well it will come together.

How long does it take for them to send out the "Application Complete" emails?
I submitted my secondary 2 days ago, my MCAT and all my letters are in (according to AMCAS). I received the "Supplemental app and photo received" email, but not the "Application complete" email, which they said will send to me when all my documentations have been received.

Does anyone know if a letter packet means you dont fill out the indiviudal letter requirements and dont have to follow them either? Like would it be considered similarly as a committee letter

For the letter of good standing, do we upload it to AMCAS or send it directly to the Einstein Admissions email?

Looking for some advice here for the question "I have taken at least a year off from school since college graduation, including this year that I am applying. (1000 character limit each)"

I took two years off after college, but then enrolled in a masters program, so now I will have another gap year off during the application cycle. Which do I talk about, my upcoming plans, or my 2 gap years after college (which would be more of a COVID essay because I wasn't able to do much then). I don't know that I can talk about all 3 in 1000 characters...

Edit: it's 3000 characters for anyone who sees this later hehe

You probably have to cover all 3 years even if you did a masters after the 2 year gap. Since they are giving you only 1000 characters it is more important to cover the upcoming year in more detail.

Does anyone know how strict Einstein is about a LOR needing to come from a professor in your major department? I graduated in 2015 so a lor from a professor whose class I took nearly 10 year ago would be difficult to get and not very informative. I have 2 lors from professors in my dyi post bac I don’t know if these count

I emailed admissions last week and haven’t heard anything

Are yall using the entire character count for the gap years and working during school essays? I’m not sure if I should keep it more straightforward or elaborate on what I learned, add stories, etc.

Actually nevermind- saw someone asked this earlier in the thread!

I believe the character limit is 3000 characters, not 1000

Thoughts on not coming close to the 3000 character limit? Feel like this is on the longer side of secondary essays and I don't want to ramble. I feel like quality over quantity is better, but does anyone know if having like 2000 characters instead of the full 3000 looks bad?

Since they give 3000 for every prompt I doubt they expect you to fill the space. I think use however much space to get your point across. Maybe try to use more for the last 2 questions that look like essays

Sorry for just seeing this now, I’m in a kind of similar position to you, I emailed them a few months ago about this and just got:

“Thank you for your email.

Yes, Einstein does adhere to it's requirements”

Anyone know if there’s a way to check our application status/make sure our letters are received?

Wow that’s quite the flippant response. I guess I won’t give them my money then

who are you getting recs from if you graduated in 2015?
I got 2 science 1 nonscience professors from the cc I did my prerequisites, my EMT supervisor, doctor I shadowed and volunteered with and a local council member i volunteer for

Submit those. I'm sure they'll accept it despite what they mentioned in the email. It's not the admin staff that will be reviewing your app, but the admissions committee of MDs, students, and PhDs. They'll see your LoRs and understand.

i am hoping to hear back from the admissions office first. this text on their website makes it sound like my app wont even be marked as complete until they have verified my lors. I would love to go there but I am not ready to light 170$ on fire just to be told my app cant be completed b/c they need a letter from a professor i had 10 years ago

INCOMPLETE UNTIL ALL LETTERS RECEIVED: Individuals who are requested to write letters of recommendation should be notified that applications will not be considered complete, and therefore not reviewed by the admissions committee, until all letters and supporting documentation are received. It is the responsibility of the applicant to arrange that evaluations be submitted in a timely manner – no later than December 1

Does anyone know how strict they are about having an LOR from a professor in your major? I have two from professors in the same college as my major, but none technically from that specific department. Been out of school for so long that even getting those two was a struggle.
I only had one Science LOR from a professor who was not part of my major. Back Story: I was planning on applying two years ago, and had two letters from professors in my major, but unfortunately AMCAS does not save them across years. I also didn't about Interfolio then, and it was really hard to secure one non-major Science LOR this year. I still submitted the secondary this year and later got an email that my application was complete and would be reviewed by the admissions committee.

Does anyone know if having a double major means I need a letter from a faculty in both majors?
Also, does Biomedical Engineering count as science faculty? My physiology course (which was also in the biology department) was taught by a BME professor.

If the physiology course was classified as BCPM by AMCAS, I would 100% think a letter from the professor counts as a science letter

If you are a post-Baccalaureate student (not a master’s degree student), a letter or statement of “Good Standing” must be submitted either from your undergraduate college or university, or included in your post-bac letter. Please indicate which of the two applies to you, and the name, title, and school from which the letter has been submitted. If no letter or statement has been submitted, please indicate when such a letter or statement will be uploaded to the AMCAS Letter Writer. If this does not apply to you, please write “NA.”

Just want to confirm, does this only apply to students in a formal post-bacc program? I'm taking a gap year to work in research and I just want to make sure this doesn't apply to me.

Did you complete a post bac before this year? If so I read it as only for current post bac students but only way to be certain is to ask the school.

Do y'all think that Einstein will be more selective of students now that they have free tuition; e.g., higher GPA, MCAT, X-factor, etc. Or do you think they will stick to their usual averages for selection?

"To prepare applicants for holistic review that will evaluate, equally, their personal characteristics and academic readiness for medical school, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine has instituted a competency-based admissions process. We believe that this approach will allow applicants the opportunity to demonstrate the complex personal dimensions that contribute to being a good doctor. In addition to the cognitive capabilities that have traditionally identified applicants as being ready for the academic rigor of medical school, this competency-based approach also provides candidates greater flexibility, for example, by substituting laboratory experience gained, while employed, for laboratory and or course requirements taken in school, or by substituting online courses that free up time to pursue interests that enhance the applicant's level of maturity and readiness for the medical profession."

With a holistic review it sounds like their selection factors are, like most schools, more than just stats. I do think they will likely get a higher volume of apps, and with it a higher volume of high stat applicants, but I don't see the averages going up more than a couple points if at all. Thats my personal opinion though, and theres really no way for us to know.

Was anyone able to find an answer about if double majors need a letter from professors in both majors?

update: I was able to call them and they said (although they were very hesitant to give any advice, even with regards to their own requirements) that only one has to be from your major.

Did anyone else get the LCME accreditation email about their designation being modified to "“Full Accreditation on Probation” and know what that means?
I was also wondering about this. I'm a bit worried about what that implies about their administration. Does anyone have any insight about if this would affect the experience of getting your MD there?

I hope they can fix whatever issues they have with that $1 billion donation haha

Cal northstate has been on probation for years and years now. Probably wont impact incoming MS1s but if they continue to be on probation for several years then future students may be more impacted.

That makes sense. Thanks for your reply!

I would be shocked if their stat averages didn't bump up a little towards around 519/3.9 with solid research expectations. While NYU was already fairly prestigious and gunning for high stats, when they became free those numbers started pushing towards 522/23. But that's a guess, we will see.

Looking at the secondary from the previous cycle. Currently I am applying 4 years after graduating undergrad (class of 2020). I did a DIY postbac after graduating but it was not part of a formal postbac. Do you all think I will need to obtain a letter of good standing from this institution?

Edit: I have individual letters, I currently have 2 science letters, 1 physician letter, and 2 volunteer supervisor letters.
Did you end up finding an answer to this? I'm in the same boat currently :,)

I attend here. Have a lot to say. Some bad, some good. Shoot me a message if you want to hear my thoughts- I'm not part of my school's admission committee or whatever and will talk about the good and bad in equal amounts in a way I think premeds deserve to know before making a decision as impactful as interviewing or attending any school.

Does anyone know how strict the letter requirements are? Would a PI (basic science lab) letter count as a science professor letter? I've tried emailing admissions but no luck.
