Depends on a lot of things. My university only has one semester of Gen Chem and Emory is fine with me using Biochem for that, but YMMV.

Same with my school and orgo, it had a separate lab that wasn't specifically Orgo I lab and Orgo II lab, but Emory said it was fine. It's a good idea to clear it with admissions though @run321 so you don't get blindsided later and have to take a course before matriculation

Did anyone not receive a secondary even if they do not meet the school's screening out criteria? LM 69.70 with 2 interviews scheduled for August already, but very curious if this happened to anyone else.

With a LizzyM of 69.7 you should be above their threshold no?

I am above their threshold, which is why I am curious why I never got a secondary. I’m not too pressed about it, but wondering if it’s even worth messaging them about.

Yes, if I were you, I'd message them about it. You have nothing to lose; they won't "hold it against you" if there's some routine process answer to your question.

how many LORs did you guys submit? (for MD application)
their website says they strongly recommend not to submit more than 3, but their secondary application portal doesn't say that... so I'm debating whether or not to submit >3

I would follow the recommendation of the website that’s what I did.

It says this too though:

“May I send additional letters of recommendation?

You may submit additional letters of recommendation, but keep in mind that the Admissions Committee may not be able to read an excessive amount of letters. Please limit additional letters to just a few.”

hey, I'm in a similar dilemma my school UC berkeley as a weird chem sequence where its just one semester of gen chem + lab. On your portal did you just drag biochem with along with your semester of gen chem in the section?

Yup! My school sends a cover letter with my letters of rec packet that explains our unique chem sequence too, so I mentioned that in the description box as well.

Most of you who just submitted AMCAS in the last 2 months will not have anything to write here.
Later applicants could
I had a manuscript that I was second author on recently get published. Should I include just that here (it is for research I was a part of up till senior year but stopped once I left my uni for my gap year)

For, the health related experiences prompt (2nd prompt), should I be listing all my health-related experiences or focusing on a few major ones? How you all approaching it?

I wrote about the 3 most impactful ones. I think they can be tangentially related to medicine too because they are asking you for "health-related" experiences.

I just want to say that this is exactly what Emory says to do in regards to AP courses not showing up correctly (From the FAQ)
"If your credits are not appearing accurately (for example, AP or Pass/Fail coursework is not showing the correct credit hours):

Drag the course to the appropriate category of the Emory Course Requirements
In the blank row directly under the course, click the box for "Future Registration"
If there is no blank row, click the green “Add” button at the top of the category
In the Comments, type the name of the course that isn't listed correctly, then tell us the corrected information. "

Hi! I hope it’s going well so far! I was wondering if you could comment on the vibes during both the interview (stressful? Chill?) and your class/school culture. Thanks!

interview wasn’t the best…I was actually convinced that I was not going to get in. To be honest the group interview part was weird. They essentially ask everyone to answer the same questions one at a time so it’s hard to really show any collaborative skills. Don’t be stressed! clearly even a sub optimal experience can lead to good outcomes!

I love my classmates everyone is very cool and kind! The school certainly isn’t perfect (no where is) but the issues we have come upon have been annoying at worst and the admin are very very good at working with students should anything come up! Overall I’m having a good time so far and am really happy with my choice!

gap or no gap? I realized nearly everyone sent primary/secondaries one month earlier than me here. How did you guys manage to do it that quick?
Many of the people who applied as early as possible had been preparing their application months prior to AMCAS even opening (I started writing my PS in November of last year for example). This also means many of them had secondaries prewritten and all they had to do was copy and paste.

Just interviewed here. Very good experience! Immaculate vibes. You can tell they care about you as applicants and want it to be a low stress and conversational experience. The group interview still throws you off a little because it’s weird, but it definitely was not as stressful as I anticipated. Love this school!

They said the committee will meet for the first time in October to discuss acceptances. The first wave of acceptances will go out by mail at the end of October, so realistically y’all would be receiving them early-mid November.

If you aren’t accepted in the first wave they will discuss you at every subsequent meeting.

Good luck all!

To add to that, here’s some info about the schedule since I was curious before interviewing. You start out in a breakout room with applicants. First you meet the dean and then go thru introductions and general info about the school. Then you are given your interview time and interviewers and wait in the breakout room until you are called for your interview. You get 1 official 30 min break but in the extra time you have in between interviews, you can take small breaks as needed. In this breakout room they have a continuous flow of med students to answer your questions and chat with. Total interview day is roughly 5 hours. Also they said first round of Acceptances go out Oct 28 if I’m remembering correctly. Overall, I agree that it was a pretty relaxed interview experience and they don’t try to grill you or anything. I hope I provided some answers to those who were curious. Good luck to you all!
