2024-2025 Florida

I interviewed on February 21st and haven't heard anything yet. I was wondering if anyone knows a typical UF turnaround time is for result notifications after the interview. I'm a bit concerned since I interviewed later in the cycle, and the class may be full by now.

Mine was about a month exactly but this was in the fall. acceptances and waitlists went out the same day though, so no news doesn’t necessarily mean bad news!

They should’ve told you when decisions were coming out, they did on my day! Wait actually I think we were the same day! It should be coming out today I thought. Hopefully being interviewed late won’t negatively effect us 😔

Just turned down my A. (OOS, but lifelong resident until college.) I cited HB731 in my email withdrawing. Kinda breaks my heart, in spite of my hatred for humidity I miss Florida and was genuinely considering returning. I loved UF’s program. I just don’t want my medical education to be subject to the somewhat volatile whims of the government.
I hope my spot goes to someone waiting for good news 🤞🏻

I haven't turned down my acceptance yet but I feel the same way 🙁

>requires medical institutions of higher education to provide letter grade-based assessments for required courses

does this mean that every FL school is going to be forced to not be P/F???

They probably think that P/F = DEI and less qualified students, hence why they included it in a DEI bill. As a standalone bill, I doubt it would pass, but because they hid it into the DEI bill, there's a good chance it passes. Hopefully someone competent strikes it down.

hoping its atleast amended out of the dei bill or something

The bill as written is definitely against the Florida Constitution (specifically Article 3 Section 6) and is shoehorning the issue of P/F on an anti-DEI bill. The Anti-DEI bill in itself is ridiculous since cultural competency has been shown time and time again to be important in physician training.

Hey y’all if youre choosing between more than 3 schools I heard that the 15th is guideline like if you don’t have financial aid you don’t technically have to narrow down today it’s just when they’d like you to. You can call AAMC if you want to double check but I just wanted to get that out there to hopefully reduce stress!(Hope I’m not spreading misinformation lol)

Wdym asked for aid verification?
UF for both undergrad and grad has people “randomly selected” for financial aid verification. I got the email on Monday or Tuesday that I had to submit stuff separately to UF. I think very few med students are selected and I got several emails about it
