2024-2025 Harvard

This plebeian has tarnished the sanctity of what it is to be the harvester. The art of the harvester is nothing like the works of Robert Frost. Frankly insulting. Some minds cannot comprehend the linguistic capabilities of a true harvester.

The harvester is amused that everyone assumes they are a man, however. Living in mystery is the code by which we humble harvesters live by.
Fun fact, Frost actually won the Pulitzer in the 40’s by copying the Harvester’s 6th grade English paper. #weremember

Hey everyone! Recently invited for both HST and Pathways (LM 79 complete 7/19). With my interviews coming up (Pathways is significantly earlier) I was wondering if anyone would be willing to tell me about their experience? Also if anyone interviewed at both how do they differ? Like I know HST would be more research focused but from what I'm seeing here the Pathways interviews also seem really research focused. Thanks in advance!

I kneel on the cold, unforgiving ground, the sharp pressure against my knees serves as a reminder of my ambition as I humbly beg for the privilege of an interview for Harvard Medical School.

I fully understand the immense pool of applicants before you, many of whom have undoubtedly served in the military, worked for AmeriCorps, first-authored groundbreaking research papers, and perhaps even orchestrated global health campaigns. But I too, have worked tirelessly—excelling academically, volunteering in my community, and engaging in research that, though modest, shows my commitment to making a real difference.

I graciously implore you to grant me a chance to meet you, and to demonstrate my unwavering passion for medicine and my deep admiration for the institution that you represent. 🙏🧎‍♂️

current pathways M3, hmu with questions!
Hi, I did have a question. Not too sure whether you know about HST, but since I'm interviewing at both, I'm wondering how will my interviews be different? Or what should I aim to highlight from my application at each program? Initially, I thought that HST would be the one to focus on my research, but I've recently been hearing Pathways interviews are pretty research focused too. So what should I highlight at each program is essentially what I'm trying to ask. Thanks in advance!

Hey! Congratulations on getting an invite to both! I only interviewed for pathways so I'm not as familiar with HST, the students are also on a completely different schedule from pathways folks, so we don't interact with them as much. I would say research is important for both, but from what i've heard, you may get more technical questions about your research for HST (given that it's the focus of the program), compared to pathways. I interviewed for a program (not at HMS) similar to HST, so i'm basing my answer to this question on that interview. For the HST interview, you might want to be more detailed about your research in terms of the methods, techniques, theory etc.

I personally didn't get asked about my research (despite it being a big part of my app) for pathways, however many of my classmates did. The questions you will get asked for pathways are much more general i.e. "tell me a little about your research" rather than "tell me the hypothesis/methods/results of your research" I would prepare to answer those questions for both interviews just in case, because you never know the type of interviewer you may come across, but you will be less likely to get asked those questions as a pathways interviewee vs HST.

TLDR: I would prepare for both interviews the same, however focus on the more technical aspects of your research for HST, and more of the background of your research for pathways.

Hope that helps!

Guys. I interviewed last week but forgot to send a thank you letter to my interviewers despite them being great. Is it too late for me to send them? Does it really even matter?

There's not exactly a specific deadline for these things. The consensus is that it does not matter in terms of admissions; it's a nice thing to do if you want to do it

Also wondering this
According to their website:

"If you would like to provide an update to the Committee on Admissions, our office will accept updates through the “Application Updates” tab on the admissions portal. Applicants may provide two updates to the Committee."

Does HMS like LOIs, or is that the sort of thing that should wait until after decisions come out?

Is there a consolidated email used to convey questions or application updates? Can'f find it online for some reason.

Anyone else get a HMS Center for Primary Care email a few minutes ago?

Thought I had hit the II jackpot lmao.

Yeah I was thinking that too at first, but the wave didn't seem as big? So maybe next week there will be?
Hate to be that guy, but I think Harvard is done...multiple friends at HMS who indicated to me that Harvard typically concludes interview invites at or around Jan 2nd.

Hello everyone, was wondering if anyone can give me some advice for my pathways interview i have on monday. were they welcoming/conversational or more of assigned questions type of deal. is it a complete application reveal or some things are blind?
