2024-2025 Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine (RVUCOM-Montana)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
We had to have two matriculating classes prior to going through the approval process with the Department of Ed (this is happening now). The approval of Title IV funding is dependent upon the Department of Education. RVU's history of approval with the Department of Education is very good. We are participating in every facet of their set approval process, and we are anticipating that we will be able to offer Federal Student Aid loans in 2025.
Excellent. That is great to hear!

We have not started sending out interview invites yet for any candidates. We are finalizing changes to our interview process and will be sending out interview invites soon. The first step in the interview process is attending a Dean's Overview & Student Q&A session. If you've received the invitation to register for the Dean's Overview, you will also be receiving an interview invitation when dates are available to register for. If you haven't received a Dean's Overview session invite, you still may receive one as this a rolling process and we are just getting started. If you have any questions about the process, please reach out: [email protected].
I was told that I would be in the first round of invites but didn’t even get a email about the deans Q&A.

was anyone able to find the link for the Dean's Q&A/Student panel? Thank you in advance 🙂

A without interview! International (non-canadian) here! Surprised to see that they will accept without interview

Just recieved an acceptance without an interview. Is this a common thing? Did many people receive this? (I am out of state with no particular ties to the area and about average stats)

No problem! Let me know if you have any other questions about MCOM!
Just got the provisional acceptance there today. Had a few questions for you if that's okay. Was wondering if there is a school gym or one nearby? Also, how is the student culture, is it really competitive or supportive? And are any students worried about clinical rotations since it is a new school? You could also DM me if you would prefer that. Thanks!

lol what is a waived interview. We’re yall the ones asking lots of questions in the q&a sessions haha?

I got the provisional acceptance today too, definitely not what I expected to wake up to this morning! Congratulations to everyone else who got this today.

No worries!

1. There is a school gym! It is really nice and also has lockers/bathrooms with showers. There is also a yoga studio. There’s also plenty of gyms like fuel fitness among others that are nearby. There are a lot of apartments next to the school and a good amount of them have their own gyms and such.

2. Student culture is really good. We are the second class and the first class (currently second years) have really set a great standard on campus. Everyone shares study materials and collaboration is definitely a priority to everyone here. All of us being part of a new branch of an established school have a little bit of a “chip” on our shoulder with wanting to prove that this is a great school.

3. Clinical Rotations are getting sorted out, we don’t know much information on it at the moment. From what I understand the majority of rotations will be in Montana and the surrounding states with the idea that you have a “home base” your 3rd and 4th year to do all your rotations at. Billings itself though has two huge hospitals (St Vincent’s and Billings Clinic)

Just received the email for actual interview registration a few minutes ago. Go check your email if you had the interview hold!

Most dates available are early week for October (didn't see if they had any later) - Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesdays.

Incoming OMS-2 willing to do the same 🙂
Hi there, I just got accepted to MCOM a couple days ago. I attended an info session last week and got to hear the vision for the school from faculty which all sounded great. However, the one concerning aspect is clinical rotations which faculty gave pretty vague answers for. I know this hasn’t been tested yet with an actual class but is there any info you can provide about rotations + also why you felt comfortable going to such a new school? Overall I’m loving the community, curriculum, and vision from faculty but the new aspects of the school and associated uncertainties are concerning.

Got my acceptance last week and I'm really interested in attending MCOM. However, I have some concerns. My dream specialty is pathology, but with the limited info on rotation sites and match rates, is it still realistic to pursue pathology at MCOM?

Absolutely. MCOM is part of the RVU family so you’re going to have the benefits of RVU connections. Rotation sites are being expanded as we speak and MCOM can always use extra rotation slots from Colorado and Utah campuses in addition to their own rotation slots in Montana/wyoming/idaho

I got an interview invite, but all the slots are filled, is anybody else having this issue?

Hi! Can a current student tell me if there are opportunities for students to engage in free community health clinics in the area or within the school? Thanks!

Within the school there isn’t but I believe there are opportunities being put together for community!

Hi guys, I got the invitation for the Dean's Overview and interview, however I cannot find the 4-5 videos about the school on my portal anymore. I have looked under every tab. Does anyone know where else I can access the videos? Thank you!

I am also having this same issue.

For those that interviewed here so far, do you know what time the interview started and ended? Thanks in advance!

It's really short. Just your 20 minute
Interview session is all (note you have to do the Dean's Q&A first which is longer). There was a variety of sign up times when I registered.

Dumb question for those who applied. On AACOMAS all I see if the Colorado/Utah option, not Montana. Do I apply through that program?

I believe Montana is written as “Montana College of Osteopathic Medicine” while Colorado/Utah go by “RVU”. I know that threw me off when I applied last year! Hope this helps

Thank you so much for the clarification!

if mcom gets approved for fed loans in 2025, would that mean we would not have to take out any private loans for our upcoming class? or would we start the year with priv and then switch to fed? sorry if a dumb question im a bit lost on the timeline for fafsa filing + aid for med school

It means you would take out federal loans and we would too for years 2-4 etc etc
