how do they rank top/middle/bottom?
 
Could I ask how students attending this upcoming year are finding roommates? From what I've seen from a price standpoint getting a group together to rent a complete unit/house out seems more affordable than the single rooms people are posting.

yea but sometimes you may not be able to find an entire house that has rooms available. Usually it is a mix of second year students and also students from other programs. But yea, you can try to form a group and look at a house together.
 
Hi - can any current students point me towards where I might be able to find housing on mare island? I am having trouble finding anything online

do you have access to campus groups? thats where mare island housing things are posted along with the fb page (it has been created and you should have or soon will get an email to join it).
 
Has anyone received communication about the process to enter their class? As in tuition, vaccines, testing, etc?
 
Hi all! I was recently accepted and am quite concerned about the campus/ surroundings/ and the city of Vallejo. I see numerous experiences regarding car break ins/ robbery/ and some sketchy things and the abandoned buildings etc.. the campus from the outside looks that way too. how is it after sunset if students were to stay on campus past that and can anyone share personal experience? the campus/ location is worrying me
 
Visited campus this week - I thought the island was beautiful and the buildings where actual classes are seem nice. Yes there are some old military buildings out there - but I did not mind it.

There is poverty in Vallejo. Crime accompanies that, but I did not feel unsafe there at all. I also toured some really nice gated apartments in Vallejo (more in the southern part). If I can’t find housing on Mare Island I am probably going to live in one of the complexes in Vallejo. I’ve heard of people who are even more concerned about safety living in American canyon.

If you want to end up in California, touro will set you up for that. I would personally hesitate to throw that away if that is important for you because of fears about Vallejo or because the classrooms on island aren’t in brand new buildings.

Hello everyone! Current TUCCOM student here - a great place to ask questions if is also Touro Talks (Touro Talks Q&A: Osteopathic Medicine). This happens on Fridays from 12-1p. There are usually faculty and a student there to answer your questions. If you have any questions, you can also email [email protected] (this is a student acc) to connect with students. The AACOMAS cycle is still active so best of luck!
 
As we all know, Touro can accept applicants off the waitlist all the way through August. Does anyone here know if starting at a different medical school before then (been accepted to one that begins on July 1st) would negatively affect my chances of being accepted off the waitlist at Touro? This is my top choice😭
 
Does anyone know how the WL is ranked? What percentage gets an A? I received a call today asking if I would be interested in interviewing... I am doing one next week but it seems pretty late for interviews. I saw that the class is full now so just trying to see if getting an A is possible

I feel like if A was not possible they wouldn't interview people! The waitlist is internally ranked and they won't share info. Did they really call you or email? just curious lol

They called me first asking if I would be interested in an interview. I said yes and then she said she would send over the actual invite via email.
 
Got a call asking if I was still interested in interviewing! Declined the offer hopefully it can go to one of yall!

Waitlist movement begins in a few weeks. I believe they try to complete all interviews first and based on their calendar, it looks like the last one is scheduled for June 10th

This is just way too late! I see from last year's thread that people got accepted off of the waitlist as early as May 17th. I will die waiting for an A 😭

Agreed! Really hoping to know soon so I can plan.... I also saw someone get off the WL July 22 last year so I am hoping that won't be us!
 
The WL email I received says that WL applicants aren't reviewed until interviews end which for them is normally late May or early June, so June 9/10 is consistent with that.

Hope everyone gets some good news soon! 🙂

is Touro restricting students from taking USMLE? I found this on reddit, can any current 1st or second years confirm? seems like the email was only sent to OMS-IIs

I saw that last year they started moving the waitlist around now, so it is possible they review waitlisted applicants before June 10th?

i would hope they do but the likely possibility is that they dont. they're still sending out acceptances to current interview candidates. so wouldnt be surprised if there's no update for WL candidates until mid or end june
