2024-2025 U Houston (Fertitta)

can you ask about their STEP schedule and if study time is integrated into their curriculum, please lol
It looks like it is. Year 2 after winter break we have 2 months of prep and study for it. I’ll ask tho

You can take Step 1 during Year 2 or Year 3. If you want to take it in year 2, you must pass an exam the school provides to show you are prepared to take it. If you don't pass it, the school will let you take it the following year once you finish your 3rd year clerkship rotation, as they believe it will allow you to be better prepared for the exam. Not sure how this influences your step 2 schedule.

I hate to speculate but do we think another round of offers before christmas? As an OOS I am really hoping to hear back from this school soon. Hopefully at least before the match for u guys🙂

does anyone know if there’s a group me, discord, or chat for those who got accepted so far? The school mentioned they would send info about this but haven’t yet 🥲

Just got II rn. Omg. My first MD. I am crying. Could anyone who has already been interviewed please share your experience? How was it going? How did you prepare for it? TIA
Congrats! The first of many, I'm sure, so keep up the good work!
From what I recall, the interview was actually lots of fun and went by extremely quickly. Given the MMI format, I prepared for it like I did for Casper, as well as going over my application again and doing some additional self-reflection. There's lots of great resources here on SDN and elsewhere on the internet for practicing that kinda stuff. Congrats again, and good luck my friend.

Did they ask anything related/relevant to your application? Or just ethical scenarios?

Has anyone been to the Ambassador tours yet? If so, did they provide any info before the tour? All I know is the date and time.

Find out where you are allowed to park and go enjoy your tour. You will not be interviewed or evaluated on the tour, it's mostly for you to see the school in person & meet some current students, to help you rank schools.

Yes, I understand! They just didn’t provide any information regarding where to go. Just a bit lost

I went last month! I parked in the metered spaces in their parking lot and it cost about $8. The tour was very nice and they basically just walk you around the school and answer any questions you have.

@wysdoc By any chance, does any know what date they have their last interviews?

Did they give any insight into the next round of offers going out at cougar med?

Does anyone know if they have any more interviews to send out? I received a secondary mid November from them, this school is my top choice!
Wondering this as well if anyone has any info. I received and submitted 2° late August and UH is also my top choice.

Will they extend interview invites to the people they offered secondaries to? I got one 11/5 and sent it back the same night. I think my app matches their mission overall. This is my first choice MD school, and I know most Texas schools are wrapping up with interviews.

The secondary essays are one more screening phase in this long application process.
Not everyone who writes the secondary will be selected to interview 🙁

do they extend interview invites throughout december and january? I haven't heard from a single TMDSAS school and i know my stats fit well with UofH.

other members above have commented there is a January 23 interview date. All TMDSAS interviews have to be done by Jan 31.

same, was wondering if it was gonna be worth it to complete since it seemed really late to be getting one with how short TMDSAS cycle is, especially since I'm a low stats OOS, but I did it anyways. not looking so promising😭

Unfortunately this school has a lot of applicants and typically interviews very few! They mentioned at my interview they usually interview 200-300. Not sure how many secondaries they sent out but it has to be at least over 1000. Wishing you all best of luck!!

Hey everyone, super specific question if anyone knows; for those who have been on tour, what was the attire like? Didn't know if jeans was appropriate or dress pants? And is the meeting spot inside the main building or how does it work after we park? Sorry just don't have enough info lol. Thank you!

I asked a similar question earlier!

Business casual will be fine

Would letters of interest be emailed to the office of admissions?

Also looks like there is no cougar med tomorrow and the resume 1/10! Safe to assume nothing will be happening next two weeks

Does anyone know if they have any more II to send out? Was in the group that received secondaries mid November and trying to keep hope
They sent out some on January 3, maybe one more round is possible before our TMDSAS cutoff of the end of January
