Does cornell offer funding for travel for accepted student weekend? Especially since it's in 4 weeks and there's short notice for booking flights/accomodations
Can someone please make one?Is there an accepted students chat
+1Late to the party, but +1 OOS WL. *sigh*
Can someone please make one?
Do you know if it’s confirmed that most/everyone who interviewed that wasn’t accepted was, instead, waitlisted?to all my waitlist folks, I called admissions today and the confirmed that they DO still take updates from anyone on that waitlist and that they will still continue to review any additional letters of rec that are sent to them! best of luck to all of us and congrats to everyone who got the A!
I didn’t get to ask bc I was driving to work, but I’ll call again within the next few days and ask for info on the waitlist!Do you know if it’s confirmed that most/everyone who interviewed that wasn’t accepted was, instead, waitlisted?
"For eligible students, financial aid is awarded only on the basis of demonstrated need. Need is determined by an analysis of income and assets of students and their families. We do not offer merit-based scholarships." hereCornell gives a lot of merit-based aid IIRC, right? Does anyone know when we'd get more info on this?
also curious abt thisDoes anyone know if flights and hotel for the second look weekend are reimbursed? If so, is there a limit?
does additional letters of rec mean a new recommendar? or can my recommender send an updated letter? and to which email should my recommender sent it to?to all my waitlist folks, I called admissions today and the confirmed that they DO still take updates from anyone on that waitlist and that they will still continue to review any additional letters of rec that are sent to them! best of luck to all of us and congrats to everyone who got the A!
also OOS WL, praying and manifesting but I feel like WL movement at T20 schools are minimal (someone please correct me if wrong)Anyone have info on waitlist movement or stats here?
I assume additional letters should be sent through AMCAS letter service, e.g. having your LOR uploaded to AMCAS and select it as a new letter for Weill Cornell under “Medical Schools”. But I’d email the admissions office to confirm.does additional letters of rec mean a new recommendar? or can my recommender send an updated letter? and to which email should my recommender sent it to?
sorry I didn't clarify that, I'm assuming just sending it through AMCAS again, but I would confirm with admissionsdoes additional letters of rec mean a new recommendar? or can my recommender send an updated letter? and to which email should my recommender sent it to?
Well, Cornell keeps their waitlist procedures hidden so everything would be speculation, but in past threads people have said that waitlist movement is good and about 30-40% of class comes from WL (not sure of validity).also OOS WL, praying and manifesting but I feel like WL movement at T20 schools are minimal (someone please correct me if wrong)
Also on the WL, just some thoughts. Except for HMS and Stanford, I suspect many schools at the top level, like NYU, have lower yield rates than expected because they're all competing for the same applicants often. Some schools like NYU and Mayo are just open about it, you can see that they both have about ~50% yield based on their websites. Even JHU posts their acceptance rate (which is obviously higher than the class enrollment). Can't find numbers on many of the other schools like WCMC, Columbia, etc. The problem is also that these schools also over-admit knowing they won't have a 100% yield, so it's not like a reduced yield means WL people are automatically taken.Well, Cornell keeps their waitlist procedures hidden so everything would be speculation, but in past threads people have said that waitlist movement is good and about 30-40% of class comes from WL (not sure of validity).
My own biased take as another WL is that it should be good. I’m basing it off the NYU waitlist procedure that is visible. They accept 50/250 WLs and they have a surprisingly low yield rate considering it’s NYU. I’d imagine since NYU has full tuition (vs Cornell’s debt free) and slightly better match lists, Cornell would have comparable WL movement. But that’s just my own hopeful take, lmk if anyone has any different thoughts.
Yeah, for sure. The 50/250 NYU stat is directly off of the waitlist though I’m quite sure unless I’m misinterpreting the AAMC document. But you’re right, for all we know Cornell accepts more people than NYU initially and maybe they have an even bigger waitlist. That said I’ll continue to cope until I no longer have hope…Also on the WL, just some thoughts. just following up -- did you ever email admissions about how best to send it? I was about to if no one haddoes additional letters of rec mean a new recommendar? or can my recommender send an updated letter? and to which email should my recommender sent it to?
I just emailed mine! I did not know there was a portal option? They emailed back to say it was received and uploaded to my file so I think just emailing should be good. For letters of intent, does anyone know if it should be emailed to the updatecornell email or uploaded to the portal? Thanks in advance!
Many yield rates are available in the admit.org master document. Here is the admit t20 reordered by yield rate. Cornell is bolded:Also on the WL, just some thoughts. The % of accepted students that actually matriculate! For Cornell, that means roughly 1 in 3 accepted students end up committing.can someone explain to me what yield exactly means? 😅
oh okay okay that makes sense! thank you for clearing that up for me 🙂The % of accepted students that actually matriculate! For Cornell, that means roughly 1 in 3 accepted students end up committing.

and orientation week please thanksCan someone tell me the white coat day?
Orientation week runs August 11-15, white coat is August 12Can someone tell me the white coat day?
Yield rate is probably low because many of their applicants will probably also get into other t10s and as the “lowest” of them, they’ll choose other schools.i saw earlier that the yield rate was about 30 for cornell, so that means out of the 100 offers they say, 30 accept?? i wonder why that is such a low percentage. does that also reflect those on the WL?
Since when is cornell a t10?Yield rate is probably low because many of their applicants will probably also get into other t10s and as the “lowest” of them, they’ll choose other schools.
And I think it depends because we don’t know how many applicants are waitlisted vs accept. If say, 200+ are accepted then about <40 spots will be open. Depending how big the waitlist is it might still be low chances or fairly good.
