2024-2025 Western University of Health Sciences (Pomona, California)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does Western CA require CASPer? I could have sworn that they did for some reason but I don't think I can find it on the distribution list right now so just wanted to double check. TIA

Hi has anyone been selected for an interview yet?

I got this email saying, "We are pleased to inform you that you are now under consideration for an interview. Interviews will take place online beginning in August 2024 and continue through April 2025. If you are selected for an interview at any point in the admissions cycle, you will receive an email notification outlining your next steps."

"Briefly discuss any extenuating circumstances which you feel are pertinent to your application (poor grades, course withdrawals, lapse in your education, etc.)"
I have gotten a C in my Cell bio class, should I talk about it or leave it as N/A?
I cannot think of any other extenuating circumstances

I wouldn't talk about it unless it's a pattern or a big concern. Most people have at least one C, so it's not helpful to talk about in this situation -- unless you feel it will strongly improve your app.

Would it be okay to leave it blank?

Sounds like the other campus already started rolling out IIs. I wonder when we're going to hear back from this campus.

on the secondaries the first question is asking about shadowing a DO and the second question is if you haven't had expereince shadowing a DO why do you want to be a DO? Does this mean leaving one of the two blank depending on your experience??

That's what I personally did! Answered one and left the other blank!

Based on their FAQ page, no.

Does anyone know if it's worth applying to this school as a Floridian there mission sounds very CA resident-focused. Wondering if it's worth my time and money.

I am not sure but i would email them about that. I know Touro - CA is open to out of state folks, they specifically said so in their info session

If we received an II hold we wouldn’t be getting anything when they start dropping?

A bit late to the game, but how long did it take for you guys to get a secondary? It’s been about a month since my primary application confirmation.

I submitted my primary 7/5 and got a secondary 7/6. I think that's relatively early for DO schools; probably by now, they're swamped going through secondary submissions.

WesternU need an MCAT score, a physician letter, and a science professor letter. They also have required coursework although I'm not sure if they screen for this.

I'm not sure about screening initially but if you do get accepted they do a review of all of your classes and you can't continue unless you satisfy all the requirements posted.
