2024-2025 Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU-COM)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm not sure if anyone can help with this, but would I have a decent shot at PNWU with a 498 MCAT and a 3.75 science GPA? I could add that I have a decent amount of clinical experience and work with the underserved population, in addition to being a longtime WA resident. Any info would be great, hope ya'll have a great day! thanks 🙂
I got an interview invite a week after submitting my primary with a similar MCAT and much lower GPA and I’m out of region FWIW. Interviewing later this week

I got an interview invite! It's virtual. Is there a way to get in-person interview? I live close by.

Was your interview online? If so, what was the experience like? Any advice?
It was online. Everything was very relaxed and almost informal? I would definitely come up with questions to ask them (about half of the first portion of my interview was me asking them questions). I was asked why PNWU and why DO so I would have answers for those questions.

they say 3 weeks you will hear, have you tried emailing them?
I am going to email them if I don’t hear anything by Friday. I don’t want to seem too pushy especially with Monday being a holiday, but they also said within 3 weeks. I just want to know at this point.

Yeah I understand. This process is so drawn out, I am exhausted

If PWNC said they would notify in 3 weeks of a decision, and they haven't, should I reach out or give them more time?

It’s been over 3 weeks for me too. I am planning on emailing them if I don’t hear anything by the end of the day. Monday will be 4 weeks for me.

Any luck with anyone that has an in-person interview getting it changed to virtual?

Yup, I calle and requested one and was later changed from virtual to in-person. Im IS however, so that could be why and I am a mission fit (rural background with ECs focused on rural medicine).

For those oos students who had to fly in or students from the area, what hotels do you recommend staying at?

I would recommend staying outside of Yakima (maybe Ellensburg, which is about 20 min from campus). The hotels in Yakima are all fairly old and run down.

Hi! I was wondering what they told you when you switched and whether there’s a difference between in person vs virtual? I’m trying to do the opposite and request virtual instead of in person but I’m not sure, I don’t want to do that if it’s gonna work against me? I would def prefer virtual because I’m oos but am also unsure of how far out the virtual interview dates are :/

I got a virtual inteview invite on 11/6, and they were booked till 3/31. Thankfully someone declined and I was able to reschedule for 11/16. They are likely booked well into April at the moment. Do with that what you will.

Did you get on a waitlist for the opening?

No, I saw the open date and was able to reschedule immediately. Why, was there a waitlist for you?
Oh! I don't see any waitlist myself. So you just refreshed the "Schedule Virtual Interview" page at some point after your initial scheduling, and an earlier option was available?

I have an upcoming virtual interview. Can anyone talk a bit more about it? It's just 45 mins 1 on 1? Is there a student panel or anything of the sort?

Does anyone know the reasoning behind being offered an in-person or virtual interview? I live across the country and was offered an in-person interview in Oct. I was able to schedule for this month and see options left open for January and February still, but the virtual interviews are being scheduled super far out. Any idea how they are assigning these?

I was also OOS. When I called a while back about potentially converting my interview to virtual, they told me that they recommended keeping the in-person interview slot as those were reserved for "top candidates."

Hmm not sure about this tbh, I was initially assigned a virtual interview and then I sent them a quick email letting them know I lived in WA and they asked if I wanted to do an in person interview. If they are really assigning by rank or competitive-ness, I doubt they would switch me that easy after assigning a virtual..but who knows?

What date was your virtual scheduled for vs. the in-person?

No idea. I emailed if I could be switched to virtual because of travel cost and they told me no. They said they valued getting to know each other in person. This did not make sense to me as they obviously also do virtual interviews, but I am sure they have a system.

Accepted students, how much is the acceptance deposit? I can’t figure out if it’s $1,000 or $2,000. Trying to figure out how much I will owe if I get a good phone call next week

this is all it says on my end. my acceptance call didnt include the deposit $$ amt!

Is there any risk in seats filling up, if one waits until December to accept?

Thank you! Did you get the call before your portal updated? I'm probably going to be anxiously refreshing my portal all next week, I interviewed 11/14

No, I got my A at exactly the 3 wk mark and no comms until then. I actually got my call BEFORE anything posted, like two days after my call is when I got the email admissions offer / portal update

Did you receive an email notification that an earlier interview date was available, or did you just happen to see that on the portal?
