I'm an Asian male at a top level UC. I'm actually only a sophomore right now but I was wondering what my chances are of getting into a low to mid level med school with the following:
3.95+ GPA (assuming I am able to keep it)
Great MCAT score (don't know what qualifies as great at this point)
2 years part-time EMT, paid
1 year Peer learning facilitator (like a tutor but with more structure and responsibilities), paid
1 year research
~250 hours of hospital volunteering
~50 hours shadowing

Like I said, I'm only a sophomore right now and the only thing I actually have at the moment is the EMT and volunteering. If all works out well, I well have everything else on that list by the time I apply. My stats are good but my EC's are very lackluster; I realize that and I'm not aiming for any top schools, just want to get into a decent and accredited school.

Too many assumptions, too early for you as well. Come back with an actual MCAT score and your GPA at that time since you will likely be taking more rigorous courses. Keep up volunteering/EMT/tutoring, focus some more on nonclinical volunteering and showing off your altruistic side.

Thanks for your response. I realize that what I put above may not actually reflect the state I'm in two years from now, but ASSUMING everything works out, do you have an idea of what my chances are?

Being a CA resident, your instate schools are very competitive to get into. But ASSUMING you keep that GPA, >512/515 MCAT, and decent/above average service/commitments and research, you have a good chance for a UC - I believe most CA residents matriculate OOS (don't quote me on that). Stats like those will get you into the door - it's up to your EC's and yourself to make it.
