I can think of worse places…To be fair life in the suburbs would not be horrible in Spokane if one likes the pros more than the cons of the PNW.

Think you need to venture outside of Texas a little more...I get it I married someone from Texas. They think it is the center of the universe.Spokane is basically Montana. Once again, a decent paying job where no one wants to live. This is not why most people go to pod school.
Bears are not your friend. I moved from non bear mountains to grizzly bear mountains. It takes a lot of the fun and freedom out of itI dream of retiring in Montana actually.

Black bears I’m not worried about but I always have a healthy degree of nervousness when I’m in grizzly territory. That’s where the best mountains are though.Bears are not your friend. I moved from non bear mountains to grizzly bear mountains. It takes a lot of the fun and freedom out of it
You should have more than a healthy degree. Like a .45 ACP strapped to your chest at a minimum. Don't they make shotgun racks for mountain bikes?Black bears I’m not worried about but I always have a healthy degree of nervousness when I’m in grizzly territory. You guys understand how anesthesia works right? A nurse needs to establish IV access first. Patient's getting a needle one way or another.
Spokane is basically Montana.
In the case of the kid with autism that I posted about Anesthesia started with gas. I was able to inject during the gassing and did the matricectomy as they worked on the IV.You would think. I have actually seen some princesses get gassed while they are getting their IV access in the OR before.
Yeah really. A shotgun would be nice. You should have more than a healthy degree. Like a .45 ACP strapped to your chest at a minimum. Don't they make shotgun racks for mountain bikes?
Look at a map. Is it not?
This is the dumbest thing I’ve read this morning.
My brother in feet. I’ve lived in three states, and been to every state except for some in the great plains and Midwest. Never been to Nebraska, because why would I? I understand you’re about that rural life, and I can see why it appeals to some. But it is not for me, and I don’t think I’m alone on that.Think you need to venture outside of Texas a little more...I get it I married someone from Texas. I’m sorry to have slighted the 101st most populous city in the US.I mean it has 4x the population of Montana’s biggest city. The weather is far less extreme. The airport is much larger. Arena concert tours generally go through there, most off broadway tours and bigger standup comics make a stop at the opera house/performing arts center. So no, it’s not.
Unless anywhere you can mountain bike, ski, whitewater raft, fly fish means that you’re “basically Montana”…
I’m sorry to have slighted the 101st most populous city in the US.
Can’t win ‘em all my friend. At least we expanded the senate and barely lost the house. It’s ok, just trying to be accurate for those around here actually looking at some of these jobs as potential employment opportunities. I’m sure you’re still taking the Beto loss really hard so it’s ok if you need to take out those frustrations on topics you know nothing about. We’ll let it slide for awhile.
Every immigrant to America ever:Still not sure who all these people are who will bounce and leave their friends family, community, cultural ties, religious ties, financial ties all for a minuscule 200k in 2022.
Still not sure who all these people are who will bounce and leave their friends family, community, cultural ties, religious ties, financial ties all for a minuscule 200k in 2022. Can negotiate your way to 150k in any crappy saturated town or city. A little hustle and you’re pushing 200k.
Many of my colleagues in school were immigrants, had kids or married. Don’t be scared by the market and don’t feel like you have to go to Spokane Wa just for a marginally better salary. However it’s gross that anyone would point to random jobs in the middle of no where as proof that there is a healthy job market.
Still pays more than a podiatry associate job at a private practice. And this job also comes with good benefits.More NP/PA podiatry jobs .......here goes a potential FQHC organizational podiatry job. Even they are hiring podiatry NP/PA to save a few $.

Would be nice to have PA/NA see post-ops.The hospital I joined is hiring me a PA once I get busy enough to support it.
My last position wanted to hire a PA but it fell through due to a hiring freeze with covid.
This is almost certainly to assist a busy DPM at the hospital with inpatient, post ops, etc.
Makes sense. I don’t know any podiatrists who’s consistently doing more than 4 elective cases a week anymore.Group hired me an NP. Plenty of clinic work (nails/calluses) and not enough surgical volume to support another DPM.
nah, they want someone with a broader scope. Can DPM fill this position?

We are looking for a surgically trained podiatrist to join us as an associate at our thriving private practice. The clinic is located in Huntingdon Valley, PA (suburban Philadelphia). Our practice has 5 providers, one main office and multiple assisted living facilities/skilled nursing facilities.
This makes me angry. What a ****ing joke. This is the reason people here say go RN/CRNA/PA/NP because none of them are making 50k. Or even 90k. Insane.Associate Podiatrist

50,000 is part time, but yeah still low pay. This makes me angry. What a ****ing joke. This is the reason people here say go RN/CRNA/PA/NP because none of them are making 50k. Or even 90k. Insane.
As much as I think it is sad mid level providers get job offers and benefits that are better than many podiatrists in private practice, the decision to hire one versus a non surgical podiatrist is complex.
An organizational podiatrist that gets a NP/PA in most cases is just following the same model/metrics the organization has in place for other providers. When you are busy enough you get a mid level provider. For podiatry I have seen more commonly you have to prove you are busy enough to deserve one. I have seen many other employed surgical specialists start out with one, then lose them in the rare cases they are not busy enough a year or two later.
Wether there is value to be had by paying a bit more for a non surgical podiatrist is an interesting discussion. It happens on occasion, but the trend does seem to be moving more towards hiring a PA/NP in the organizational setting. Maybe some hospitals do not even understand non surgical podiatrists can be found and also younger podiatrists are afraid to give up their hope at being boarded by ABFAS....can not blame them.
I have seen some NP/PA being shared by organizational podiatrists, but most often they are shared by a single provider. I have seen the organizational podiatrist often hired when they already have 2 or 3 busy surgical podiatrists and are not busy enough for another, but have too many nails, calluses and wounds not requiring surgery. An important consideration for a non surgical podiatrist being hired in these settings is wether they will be RVU or just subsidized with a generous base with the the organization knowing you are taking on less lucrative patients so the other high producers can keep producing.
I know this practice. It was just sold to a younger provider. One of the founding partners built a practice treating runners. He is a runner who actually won a few well know marathons.Associate Podiatrist

Wait... That doesn't fit the narrative.I know this practice. It was just sold to a younger provider. One of the founding partners built a practice treating runners. He is a runner who actually won a few well know marathons.
Not sure why someone who just purchased a practice is already looking for another associate.
I will HOPE the 50 grand is for part time nursing home work. Though it does say surgical trained. Pitiful.
50k for part time , 90k full time for surgical trained podiatrist with ABFAS certified : ))). I'm PGY-1 making 75k, full benefits :v!Associate Podiatrist

make sure to attend the ACFAS virtual job fair. Some bangers for sure.Do we still need more proof to show our professions leaders? Is APMA going to keep sending emails saying SDN is making up stories?
It sounds weird but a lot of derm in my area don't like anything that has to do with the feet. Sure I happy they don't want to deal with it because I get a lot of referral from derm for toenail fungus, skin biopsy, wart, ingrown, xerosis, tinea, marcerations etc. A busy derm practice will rather see every other part of the body than the feet. Even corns and calluses the derm folks don't want to deal with it lolmake sure to attend the ACFAS virtual job fair. Some bangers for sure.
Edit - a derm practice hiring a pod..interesting.. A few legit jobs on there, that Idaho one looks nice.

Any new pod grad struggling to fill up their clinic schedules should visit their local derm group and hand out cards. Doing ingrown toenails, warts, biopsy etc all day will pay off your student loans quickly rather than spending time in the OR.
Maybe regional, but I have a similar experience. Dermatologist in my MSG is next door and sends me "every derm thing below the knee".It sounds weird but a lot of derm in my area don't like anything that has to do with the feet
I really wish referring PCPs understood what insurance covers and what they dont.A dermatologist is sending you referrals for skin biopsies and rashes? That seems… strange.
Also, I think it’s pretty well known and obvious that a dermatologist doesn’t want to deal with corns and calluses…
Yep…the young eating the young.Wait... That doesn't fit the narrative.
