But they don't have good grounds. It's not actually a medical licensing exam, the only reason it's required is because they made it a requirement for taking Step 3. This requirement currently doesn't exist. If they are already letting people take Step 3 and get licensed without it they are admitting it's useless and doesn't do anything to improve patient safety lol. It will be very difficult to convince anyone that interns seeing actual patients would be benefitted in any way to take time away from those patients to go see the fake patients in the testing centers. The money and time it will cost programs to have each of their interns take this test (they will have to pay for 2 days worth of travel and lodging on top of the exam fee, let alone the sunk cost of them being out of the hospital) will raise some eyebrows.
The class of 2021 will not be taking CS. The earliest CS would resume is when class of 2021 starts residency. This would also cause serious scheduling issues with class of 2022 and beyond. The logistics of making anyone in 2021 take CS are literally a nightmare.
