APPIC Internship Phase II 2020

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think for the sake of limiting anxiety maybe only post about interview notifications/rejections if you are willing to share specifically where you heard from. It seems like there is an increase in anxiety when people post that they have been notified but not who from. Also keep in mind I’ve been told there are rolling notifications in phase II...hang in there everyone!

I’d be willing to make a post in this thread that is a log of rejections/offers (like in the phase I thread) if people wanna PM me where they heard from.

Shared this in the phase one thread, so I figured I'd share again here for the person that is interviewing at University of Minnesota Student Counseling Services (SCS).
I am a previous intern at University of Minnesota Student Counseling Services (SCS). I witnessed multiple instances of sexual harassment in staff meetings or office gatherings while I was there as an intern. I never witnessed fellow staff members or the director interject when these comments were happening (mostly people would just laugh and write it off as a joke). I sincerely want you all to have a wonderful internship year. I encourage current applicants to ask how trainee concerns have been addressed. I also suggest talking to interns privately about their relationship with staff and how much power they feel they have to bring concerns forward (e.g. do they feel supported by the TD, the director, the center as a whole). I am willing to share more about my experience in a private message. Your internship year should be one to never forget because it helps you grow in your identity as a psychologist, not because it leaves you traumatized and feeling gaslit.

I am also previous intern at SCS and witnessed experiences similar to Mirrors'. There were also other concerning issues related to client care. I had posted on the phase I thread and would be happy to answer any questions applicants may have in a private message.

I have an interview with Alexandria VA. Eeek!
a little nervous because I did not do a VA interview first round.

i don’t know why I’m making a big deal out of this-a site is a site. But still! It seems so out of my league.

Has anyone heard from Charleston Consortium, Samaritan Health Services or University of Washington? Just wondering if I should still be holding out hope. Feel free to send a message if you don't want to post.

Apparently not if they invited you for an interview!

Still waiting on the first two! Didn't apply to the third. I applied to a lot of sites because anxiety, and I still haven't heard from about half-- though that could be a "no" since they don't have to notify.

I didn’t apply but could tell you about the University of Washington area in case you match!

They are wonderful! From what I remember from the interview with Alexandria VA they asked 4 questions, one was about a challenging client, I don't remember the others sorry but they were standard questions. They were also very conscientious about letting you know when there were pauses so they could take notes, etc.

I need to mention that the University of Alabama — Birmingham Consortium is not currently APA-accredited (on probation). They’re working on addressing issues to reinstate accreditation, but it’s not guaranteed, so be wary of the risk.
Accreditation on contingency is still accredited....

Accreditation on contingency is still accredited....
It's a little bit different than accreditation on contingency for a program waiting for data.

"The CoA may also assign a program “accredited, on probation” status. Although it is an accredited status, it is considered by the CoA to be an adverse action that serves as notice to the program, its students/interns/residents and the public that in the professional judgment of the CoA, the accredited program is not consistent with the G&P and may have its accreditation revoked. Prior to this designation, a program is provided an opportunity to show cause why it should not be placed on probation by providing a written response to the issues of concern. A program not coming into compliance within two (2) CoA meetings after the show cause notice is assigned “accredited, on probation” status."

I would consider ranking a program that was accredited on contingency, I would NOT consider an accredited program on probation.

Since you're here..Is it common to send invitations to interview later in the week for Phase II? I'm assuming most sites would want to have everything ready by next week, so if we do not receive notification by Friday, can we presume these sites are "rejecting" us without notification?

Honestly, not sure, never been in Phase II

Interview notification via email from the VA Maine Healthcare System. (Skype Interview)

Anyone else starting to feel nervous from not hearing from additional sites? I have only heard from one but keep reminding myself that sites are always busy and might not respond right away.
yeah I feel the same way.. i wish there was a notification date :/

I just had my first interview...I feel like I did okay but am way less confident in general after thinking all the interviews went great in Phase I and not matching. Hopefully that's just me getting in my head!

For those wondering about when sites will notify: I was in Phase 2 last year and I just went back through my emails to see when I heard from my last site. I was contacted on 3/11 for an interview that happened on 3/14. Rank order lists were due 3/18.

It ain’t over til it’s over!

congrats on your first interview!! I’m in a similar boat. I’ve accepted I’m just gonna feel weird and vacillate between confidence and insecurity until 3/23. Life finds a way.

The one year my site was in phase ii I was taken completely off guard and pretty much going through applications and interviewing up until the very end.
