Hello,

I am new to this forum and I have also applied for fall 2020 entry through AB. Has everyone received something/ email from the universities? Because I have not heard back from any university yet.
Also congratulations to all who have secured an interview or received an acceptance!

Hello, all!

I just had a few questions regarding RCSI 6 year program admissions to anyone who has gotten accepted.
So, I'm applying from Canada and I got invited for the interview and had it in Vancouver on the 22nd of February. I was told by the interviewer that they should be getting back to me within 10-14 days. I thought the interview went fairly well, but then again, I have no idea. I'm just stressing out right now because I really need to get into this program.

To anyone who got admitted, when did you have your interview and when were you accepted? Also, what did the offer look like (if it was a conditional offer, what do the conditions look like)?

Thanks for your time.

Hey! I got an email from my admissions officer and they told me RCSI will begin their second rounds soon and the other schools are still doing first rounds. Do you guys think they just randomly shuffled everyone’s applications so regardless if you applied early your application could have been shuffled into a later round?

Just received an offer for the 5 year program!! If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I wish everyone good luck 🙂

Has UCD sent out any offers for the 6-year yet?

The couple of schools who send out offers first are usually UCD and RCSI as they interview for their spots. Two schools who don't interview are UCC and NUI-G - they release their decisions later (prob in the next 1-4 weeks). I also know that TCD is also the last school to send out invitations compared to the others in previous years. I can't remember if TCD does an interview or not. I don't know enough about UL to make a comment.

Hey guys not to freak anyone out but I just saw this was curious what people thought:

it’s talking about RCSI’s response to COVID and the M-4s affected exam schedule. So far other schools in Ireland don’t seem to have been altered...

I think that’s very wishful thinking, but I hope you’re right.

Anyone else get an email yesterday about the UCD event in NYC? Not sure if its for everyone or just those of us who have accepted their offers

I plan to accept my offer soon, and I got an email for an event in Toronto the other day 🙂 (GEMS).

Haven’t gotten any news from RCSI since my interview or any of the other Irish schools at all. Anyone in the same boat? Is RCSI done with their acceptances?

I’m literally so anxious. I’m gonna be calling them tomorrow morning. I did my interview on the 22 and I still haven’t gotten a reply. I can’t even sleep anymore LOL

Thats when I had my interview too, let me know what they say. Maybe we’ll get responses by tomorrow. I’ve pretty much already accepted that I’ve probably been rejected so that’s depressing lol.

Me too! It sucks that my friends from RCSI are texting me asking about if I got a reply 🙁 It’s really depressing

Is there anyone else accepted to University College Cork 4-year Graduate Entry? I have so many questions!

Update for RCSI Undergrads: all offers will be sent out by Monday!

Hi all! I just got a rejection email from RCSI :/ I wish you all the best and I hope you get accepted this feeling is not fun LOL!

What so are people from the United States flying to Toronto for interviews or is that just for Canadiens?
Not sure as I didn't speak with any of the candidates....I literally had the interview did the session and drove back to school to continue classes - busy academic year.

I received an offer for the 5 year program at RCSI March 4th (interview was Feb 25). I must give an answer, either way, by March 25th. Excited, but I continue to research answers regarding matching back. That is the part that concerns me.....I spoke with CARMs today and read their 'data' reports. Bottom line is that it is HIGHLY competitive to acquire a match. Your best chance is the first year applying to match - not sure why?
Good luck to all!

For GEM UCD people, where are you planning to live?

Sorry to hear that 🙁 I received that email 13 times this cycle, and hell I’m still waiting for two more 😆
But honestly it’s not a terrible thing even though it may feel awful. Rejection always blows but it can lead to better opportunities. Getting more experience in work, medicine and life in general will make you all that much more capable if you plan to pursue medicine further. Idk your situation or anyone else’s on here, but there is no hard no when it comes to your goals. Keep up the hard work, be kind, and you’ll be starting your first day in your dream school knowing it was all worth it.

I'm curious - do you all have 2 semesters of your pre-req courses, or just 1?

According to (website) you just need one in a certain subject.

Also, here is their grading scale conversion.

I have a very good family friend who graduated UCD 2019 (matched Mayo) and she recommended to pick Glenomena.
I've heard that from current GEMs students at UCD as well! In the portal system however, it seems like we won't be able to book until May 21st? Can anyone confirm this?

I'm really sorry to hear that, but don't give up hope! Keep fighting, you'll become a doctor eventually!

Hi
I got offers from UCC and UCD and now I must pay the deposit, but it seem like I will have to reject them both since I can't afford the tuition fee. Are there any loans or financial help I can sought out?

I also got offers for pharmacy at RCSI and Trinity, would this be a good alternative?

RBC does provide a line of credit, however they told me it is capped at 150K. Ontario can provide some bursaries and loans based on your situation.

Congrats to all those accepted - anyone know when second round interviews for GEM programs go out?

I am not sure but all I know is for RCSI it’ll be soon since they finished their first rounds but the other schools are still doing first rounds

Congrats on getting two offers. Canadian banks offer up to $250K. If you meet them in person, they are willing to give you more. The government also does loans as well. Out of those two schools, UCC is cheaper. You should just be able to pay UCC. To supplement your living expenses, you could get a part time job during school.

But will the loan be worth it? like it's alot of money and I don't know how long it will take to pay off

Which bank/banks offer up to 250K?

Hello everyone (Long time lurker)! When I was looking into loans, they have some specifically for medical students. BMO, offers up to 350k I believe. But you can only use 80k of it in your first year.

How is everyone funding their international education in Ireland? I'm from Canada and the max line of credit I seem to be offered is 200,000 CAD.

Just go to TD - they have the biggest amount to offer - 350k. Student Line of Credit - TD Canada Trust.

5 year UCC and UCD are 39k euro/yr. 39k euro is 59k CAD. so; ~60k CAD x 5yr = 300,000 CAD total [Actual = 296,265 CAD]. Frequent Questions – Atlantic Bridge

You also have the option to open up multiple lines of credits through different banks, depending on your financial background/co-signers.

For anyone deciding between UCD and RCSI GEM, what are your thoughts on both? I am having a very hard time deciding between the two. RCSI is more expensive but right in the heart of the city. Many Irish students (not medicine) that I know say that UCD would be most of their top choice however. Any suggestions?!
