Can someone please let me know the best airline to fly into kirskville airport?US airlines does not fly out on the day I want. I would appreciate it.

I saw the airport down there, but it seemed to be all small aircraft. I don't think any major commercial flights go in. I took the Amtrak into LaPlata, MO which is a good 10-12 minute drive from the depot inn and suites(which I highly recommmend). The hotel will pick you up from the train station and for your interview you can get a cab. Maybe a little pricey on the cab end, but hey you'll save money on a flight anyway.

Well Happy Birthday in advance since I'll be too busy to tell you then 😉

Thankee, thats quite alright. I barely remember my own birthday when it comes up anymore, but forgetting my wife's birthday or our anniversary are sins punishable by death...

thanks,

is the amtrack in Kansas City? The flight I am taking goes to Kansas City, and I need to get to Kirksville.

You can take the train from kansas city to LaPlata which is about 10 minutes from kirksville(hrs and 15 minute ride). Now I don't know where the train station is in relation to the airport KC is a relativelty large city I think. You can get a cab from Laplata to the school and arange something with enterprose to pick you up. They might even let you leave the car at the hotel when you leave and just get back on the train. Where are you coming from? There may be a train that takes you directly to LaPlata or at least connects. If not you may also rent a car in KC and just drive the 2 hours to kirksville a couple of interviewees did that the other day.

Make sure you book your transportation and hotels in advance so there are no surprises. Best of Luck and get there safe.👍

I interviewed on 10/12 and had to get there from Utah. I just got on Expedia and Orbitz to find the best deals and found that I could fly straight in to Kirksville. It cost me about $100 more than flying into KC or St. Louis, but I figured that with the cost of renting a car (I am only 24) and the gas that it would take to drive it to and from, I think I broke even. I believe I switched to US Airways or one of their sister companies.

One of the guys in our interview group was taking the same flight that I was from KC to Utah that left at 8pm. He had to leave right after the interview stuff got over at 2pm and drive back to KC whereas I was able to hang around a while and talk with some students because my flight did not leave Kirksville until 6pm.I am glad I was able to fly straight in to Kirksville!

Good luck!

You have got to be kidding me!!!!😱 I wish I had known this ahead of time. When I used orbitz i could not find any flights to kirksville. Argggh. Oh well it still worked out for me.

I'm flying into KC and going straight to KCUMB for a tour and a meeting with the VP of admissions (who says I am likely to get an interview, although I am on hold now). I've heard such great things about this place that I can't miss an opportunity to check it out.

Then I'm driving to kirksville for my KCOM interview. The next day, I'm going to roll on up to Des Moines for the same thing I'm doing at KCUMB. Then back to KC for my return flight.

Awesome...I wish I enjoyed travelling I would have done something like that.

I did the same thing, minus the trip to DMU. You won't be disappointed! KCUMB is a great school. I was so impressed with the tour I got. No interview yet, but I have to say that if I get into KCOM I am going to withdraw my other applications.

I like traveling, but by "traveling" I don't necessarily mean "driving around the midwest". But this is pretty important. I think I'll enjoy the trip.

Anybody mind suggesting any cheap hotels to stay in Kirksville? Expedia is telling me the cheapest are Knights Inn and Super 8, has anyone stayed at any of these?

Stay with a student. I stayed with a friend but most of the people I interviewed with stayed with students and they had a wonderful time. The staff even asked me, "Oh, since you didn't stay with a student, are you sure you got enough time to talk with them and see the whole town?"

Oh...by the way...you are from Michigan, right? I don't know if you have your flight/travel plans yet, but just to let you know I did all of the math, and it would have been better for me to drive to Kirksville from East Lansing then to fly to Kansas City, rent a car and drive to Kirskville.

Should be about 9.5 hours to drive from EL to KCOM. Flying from Lansing to KC then driving to KCOM was between 9 and 10 hours. FYI.

Thanks for your responses. I appreciate it.

Stay with a student host.

I was thinking about it, but my brother is coming along with me, so I decided against it. We are going to fly into St. Louis and rent a car from there. Its probably a 3 hour drive I'm guessing.

Good Luck desijigga👍

Good luck on your interview.

I'm about ready to get accepted somewhere. These guys were an early favorite of mine, and I like what I hear about them. Obviously, they've been doing a very good job for a very long time. I expect to be impressed at my interview.

I would highly recommend Comfort Inn. It's at a very convenient location b/c there's a ruby tuesday across the street and a burger king next door. also, it's very close to the campus. my room was very large and comfortable and there's an iron and ironing table. also it has free wifi =).

good luck on your interview!

I'm staying at the Super 8, its a good price and they have wifi. I wish I would have stayed with a student but I got here early and have been exploring the town. How's the traffic here in Kirksville, my interview is tomorrow and I was wondering about when to leave I figured it couldn't take more than 20 minutes. Thanks

The traffic was virtually non-existent when I went to my interview.

Thanks guys, I need as much good luck as possible.... 😀

Good luck to everyone else that is about to interview, or is waiting for an acceptance post-interview, or is waiting for an interview.

For those who brought a significant other or family member, can you discuss their day and what they thought about KCOM? I am bringing my fiance and was curious. Thanks!

My wife had a good time. While I was on my interview they took her on a tour, and she got to meet with some of the clubs and learn about kirksville. My wife was really concerned and interested in learning about what kirksville/school had to offer so she enjoyed and appreciated their efforts. They had so much in store for her that I was actually done with my stuff before she was. We had a hard time tracking her down after my interview, twas kinda funny.

Took me five minutes to get there...depending on the street you take, you may have to dodge Truman State students walking to class....

I am interviewing on 11/12. Any advice from those who have already interviewed or maybe a heads up on some of the questions they asked?

Thanks!

From my experience just be yourself and know about yourself. think about why you want to be a physician, more specifically an osteopathic physician? That's from my experience though. My interviews were very conversational.

Best of luck.:luck: It really was a great day over there, nothing to really stress over.

The packets came today!

I'm hoping that close to Christmas will mean Santa will bring me an acceptance letter.

I'm interviewing on friday (11/9) at KCOM. Very excited! I am definately going to stick around for the optional tour. Also, how's the AT Still museum? Anyone go? I'm re-reading "The D.O.'s" on the plane there so I'll be up on the history. Is it worth the time to check out?

I loved going to the museaum. The person at the museum was great and knowledgable about the history. They actually have a fully dissected nerve system that is actually intact (only 4 in the world). 👍

Cool. I'm so there.

Thanks, Mastamark!

HrvatskiDoktor I sent you a congratulatory prv message. Conrats again. I called down to see what happened with mine. I have a couple of missed calls but who knows.

Ok great. I'm ready to get this process over with, so with my luck, I'll probably get another wait list. So what were the interviews like?

How does KCOM send out interview invites?

Just got my call for acceptance as well. :meanie:

Congrats mastamark!! Will it be tough deciding between KCOM and DCOM?

Yeah...I liked KCOM too. They both have their strengths. Too bad I have'nt found any waknesses in either, would make it easier.😳

Maybe your wife can help you choose. 😀

Did she get to visit both schools with you?

Yup...She went to the KCOM interview with me. At DCOM we went to the white coat ceremony and building celebration, so she got to meet some students and see the building. She loves the area around DCOM, and adores the people at KCOM.

KCOM ha a very nice atmosphere and is family friendly! Its a great school.

Mastamark 2 acceptances in 2 days, congrats my man. Mind telling us when you interviewed there?

Im confused do they call you or email you if you are accepted?
