Don't get me wrong, Midwestern U, I'll go to AZ before I don't go to medical school, but I'd prefer CCOM.

Try not to worry so much folks. I know it's hard. When I applied, I didn't get ANY invites until Labor Day weekend. Then I got 6 (count 'em SIX) in the space of three days. Patience. Anything you haven't heard NO from yet is a possibility. Look on the bright side.

Agreed. I did not get any interview invited until late October and I even received a couple in January. This is still very, very early in the game and this is the first time that the schools have an application season with multiple MCAT dates.

Try to remain calm, I know this is hard, but you will get through it. In the meantime, you may want to keep you head together by creating a chart so that you can keep track of all of your stuff, in the event that you have not done so immediately. Also, if you sent your materials about a month ago, you may want to simply drop a dime on the school to make you that you are in fact complete. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that your file is complete and not the school's. You would be surprised as to what is holding you application up.

To those of you who have received interviews, congrats. Make sure that you are preparing. The one advice I will give you is to hold a mock interview and video tape it. Following the taping, watch it and be very critical of yourselves. You will be amazed as to how you come across without even knowing it. Also, research your school. Make sure you HAVE questions. When the time comes and the interviewer asks you if you have any questions, there is only 1 answer. Yes.

It is alright to write them down. I did that and I was told by one interviewer that he was impresses by how I was prepared with question all written down. Just do not write down answers. The questions are there for your own edification. Go the school's website, read their newsletters, look at the various clubs and events. Remember, you are also interviewing them because you may have to make a choice.

All of my files for all of the schools I applied to are complete except they have not received mt LOR. I talked to my pre-med advisor yesterday and she said that she is really busy and probably will not send them out for atleast another two weeks. I don't know if I can wait that long as I am not the strongest applicant in the bunch. She I email her and kindly ask her to send in my LOR ASAP? What does everyone else think? Thanks!

from what I hear, MSU has done away with the interview.

From what I recall from last year, OSU doesn't get in touch with OOS applicants until about October for November interviews. It also seems to me that almost every OOS applicant is either waitlisted or rejected and they then find out in January or later if they are accepted.

OSUCOM is NOT a big school atmosphere just so you know and t-funk is right, although I'd have to check with my friend who's a MS-1 but I'm pretty sure that things got started for all interviews in October last year.

The Caymans were as expected. Beautiful. I had 7 days of hard work lounging on the beach, scuba diving, and eating at local burger joints sippin on beer. It was VERY relaxing. DITTO on the WVSOM, even though it was a slight hassel getting into lewisburg, I am looking foward to my interview there. I am not intemidated in the slightest about the OOS tuition. They have a LOT to do if your interested in being outdoors, skiing, lakes, camping etc.. I think I got the early spot in terms of interviews, 9/05 so Ill PM you and let you know how it went.

PS I went and looked at the Med school in Cayman, (St. Matthews, the building looked really nice and was like 200 yrds away from seven mile beach.) They had free tours but I dont have a desire to go there besides vacation so I passed on it.

And you'll get an even better feel when you interview there... it's funny how schools that don't really show up on our radar that much previously, suddenly register so strongly after more research and exposure. That's another very compelling reason to apply broadly and to keep in open mind early in the game.

yea seems like osucom and msucom chances are low...i just like to be affiliated with state schools...sports, atmosphere...even if osucom isnt on the main campus.....I also got that wvsom interview but I am considering declining it because I had not realized that wvsom (as seen in the nice photos) was really in a town of no more than 3,500 people.....too small for my taste...(ahhh crossing my fingers for ccom and dreaming of being back in chicago)

Reading the website, taking notes on questions I thought were difficult to answer (questions in the Interview section of SDN). Also, coming up with good questions to ask them so if they say "do you have any questions for us" I dont say, "nah, you pretty much covered it" lol. Other than that, Im nervous that I'll go into a stuttering frenzy and they'll kick me out. How are you preparing?
