**class Of 2013**

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am done on April 29 at 2:50 after my anatomy final then I study for my mcat on May 10th.

I also plan on taking organic 2 which is a six week course...I must be crazy for doing this to myself.

Once that class is done then I can party and enjoy my summer

are you on quarters?

Yep...and although I bitch about getting out late, I really couldn't handle semesters...I can't focus on one set of classes that long, I pretty much crap out around week 8

I loved being on quarters during my undergrad years!

May-June felt like being on summer vacation with 1000 of your closest friends - bars every night, cook outs, beach, etc.

Plus, all of your friends from other schools that were on semesters always came to visit because they were on summer vacation.

It could've just been my school - but I loved going late.

Done on May 1st after six years of school!!! I'm actually kinda sad about it. Have the MCAT on May 31st and will be working for the next year. I'm getting really excited about the application process!

By "enjoy" I mean, study for the MCAT, work to pay back loans, complete med school applications, work on secondaries, and get ready for interviews - yahoo!
Yes. You and I will be in the same position. You just get there a little quicker than I do.

I'm officially done May 7th at 930PM after my anatomy final. however i am dedicated to MCAT from then til May 27th......THEN the party begins, at least til i get back my scores, haha
I'm completely done on July 3 at 12:30 when I bid adios to Ecology and all things ugrad. That also happens to be my 30th birthday so I'll definitely be celebrating!

Do you know where you are working yet during the glide year?

Woo hoo!! Another almost 30 year old!! 😀

hey. just saw this. sorry!

I'm debating staying around here and working with some of my professors doing research and keeping my campus job OR moving someplace and getting a job for the sole purpose of experiencing something different for a year.

So. short answer. I haven't a clue.

The bright side : no more Organic chem lecture MWF at 8am

Amen to that! I am "done" on 5/18 Whoo Hoo!

good luck on your exam tomorrow ryserr:luck:

aww thanks. wish i woulda seen that yesterday...i was too busy studying to waste time on here tho...haha.

my test went well i think....except that its impossible to fit an entire semseter into a 1 hour test.....so the prof tries to ask you about everything, which is impossible, so you have to frantically try and get everything you know down and just expect not to finish some of the questions... it seriously could have been a 3 hour exam. o well, its over! all i have left is 1 exam, 1 final, two papers, and a presentation.....the rest of the year should be cake! which means that ill just be spending that extra time on MCAT 🙁.

You could always join the SMP club. It's actually not too late to apply at some places; just hop on by the semi-active forum. I think there are like 4 active posters there who actually answer questions across threads 😛

Dang! It's April. When did this happen? Is anyone taking an April MCAT? (Im not until late May myself)

April 18th for me...yep, this Friday...not feeling too ready, so I kind of anticipate a retake May 31st, but I'm sure going to give it my all the first time and hope

I seriously just laughed really really hard when I read this. Whats really sad is that for a moment it gave me hope and I was wondering "Really? I wonder where they heard that from?!?!"

Thanks, I needed a laugh!

All I can do is stay positive and try my best, which is what I plan on doing

I'm not giving up on a SMP. But I think I'm going to apply for a cycle. And see what happens. Throwing out that money without trying to to apply first doesn't set well with me.

So if I don't get in this cycle, I'll do a SMP. 🙂

hey, im new to this and was wondering if this is an okay thread to start the "what are my chances" posts. or is there somewhere better to do that ... i'm getting ready to apply and could use all of the advice i can get!!

Actually there is a 2008-2009 "what are my chances" thread already. It is on the first page

Hi all, I'm pretty new though I've been lurking for a bit now. Also part of the hopeful class of 2013, taking the MCAT May 27 (I was basically all about the one date that wouldn't require me getting up early). My GPA's not great b/c the first two years were a mess, but junior year has been pretty good so far. My GPA as it stands is a 3.2 or something terrible like that, so I'm shooting for a 33 or so to compensate.

Anyone else have a ridiculous amount of trouble with physics? I'm a biochem major, so obviously chemistry is kind of my thing, but I make up for it by being a big idiot at physics. I practically get heart palpitations when I think about the PS part of the MCAT - thank goodness it includes chemistry or I would be so SOL.

So here we all are getting ready for 2013!
I am not totally new but haven't posted much. I still have one more app on hold at LMU-DCOM. I had an interview at PCSOM and they liked me but gave me a couple suggestions to take a couple upper level classes. They said that I shouldn't have a problem getting in next year hopefully. So as it was discouraging and hard to swallow the rejection, I am getting ready for next year. I cant wait for the bells and whistles and drunken celebrations!!
I hope to keep up with everybody this whole year. We are in this together.😀

I had an awful time with Physics. The only piece of advice I can offer is to just redo problems until you're comfortable with it! Start slow and just do a section each day. That helps a lot!!

MCAT physics is easy. Its nothing like what you get in a physics-for-science-majors course. Just practice.

Welcome and good luck. I have been lurking and browsing as well. I also hated Physics with a passion and was glad when it was finished. I know what you mean about it being included in with chemistry. At least I know that I can still get a couple points?

where do you get practice problems? the Kaplan book doesn't really give practice problems......they might do an example here and there, but dont give any practice problems. i think this may be a major source of my problem for the PS section...

so where do I get a good source of practice physics problems? exam krackers or something?

edit: i see an ExamKrackers 1001 Physics questions and ExamKrackers physics.......if i have the Kaplan book which teaches physics....would it be best just to get the 1001 physics questions? or is there a better book to use for practice problems?

Thanks aliDO and good luck to you. Have you taken the MCAT or got any app stuff together?

I'm taking the MCAT May 31, so basically my time goes to studying for that. Been doing good on the practice tests so hopefully I can keep it up. I've also been working on my personal statement. I won't be in school anymore after next week so that's nice. So, are you going to take more upper biology courses?

There are tons of sources of practice problems, including practice MCATs. Also go on Amazon.com and search for MCAT study materials. ExamKrackers, TPR, Kaplan, and so-on, will all have stuff available. Practice is the most important thing.

ive done practice MCATs and I plan on doing all of the AMCAS tests. i was just looking for something that would give me strictly physics problems. i know there are a lot out there...just wondering if there is a consensus on the best one.

Get the EK 1001 Questions in MCAT Physics and hit those. I've also read that the NOVA Physics review is good but not sure myself.

nova has some passages in theirs. EK is more along the lines of here's a discrete problem. Plus EK stuff tends to repeat itself, for better or worse.

I am going to have to take the MCAT again unfortunately around end of July or first of August. All of my free time is studying as well. It sucks but its the sacrifice we make for our future. Some of the professors from my interview suggested some classes to take. I am going to take biochem and either pathophys or a refresher of human phys.

Good luck but dont start thinking about a retake. Think positive about the first one. You can do it.

------Positive vibes------->Doc Henry:luck:

Thanks so much you guys!

I actually think that me keeping the idea of a retake in my mind will probably help me relax on test day...it feels a little less final. Of course I'd like it to be final, but by knowing that I'm planning on studying and possibly retaking on the 31st, I think I will be able to keep from getting too overwhelmed on this one.

That's the worst plan ever. Why people EXPECT for the worst is beyond me. I have a friend who said he would go into all interviews not caring if he got rejected or accepted or not. Go into the MCAT with the confidence you will fricking rock it, in hindsight, it's not even going to be considered hard

I'm not expecting the worst, I'm expecting to get my average from practice exams. The bottom line is that I'm not happy with what my scores have been, so most likely I will retake, assuming I get within my practice score range. Besides, different things work for different people.

hey all,

i recently joined sdn and was curious-- after reading some of your posts, it seems like schools wait until you get your mcat scores to make a decision about whether or not to extend an interview. i took the mcat once (25) and am planning on taking it again in august. if i indicate on my application that i'm retaking it, will my application be put on hold until they get the scores in september?! if anyone who has gone through the process can offer insight, that would be fantastic.

🙂

yes, clearly indicate you will be retaking it and they wont make a final decision until your 2nd score comes in. at least thats what i have been told numerous times. good luck 👍

Class of 2013 (I hope). Hopefully I get into Western U (I'm from Cali), or maybe Touro-CA or AZCOM.
