yes I know, I checked the page this afternoon thinking they were going to say something like...in May the app will reopen..but no..it said today!

I then surreptitiously began to print out transcript request forms and letter of rec info for letter writers...lol..this is going to be a long and daunting process.

where do you get transcript request forms? i was just thinking about requesting transcripts. i have courses from 3 different schools. do you just tell them to send it to AACOMAS? where do i find all of this info? probably on the AACOMAS website huh?

I have courses from 4 different schools (2 ugrad, 1 postbac and 1 grad)
and each of the schools that I attended has a transcript request form that you can print out and fill out and mail back in/fax with check/credit card info. The forms are usually posted under the registrar section where you 'request official transcripts'. The address I used for AACOMAS is:

Hey blondeshell15, I know this might be off topic but, are you catholic? I read early in this thread you saying something about a catholic HS or college and school girl uniform? I am catholic and grew up going to private catholic elementary,middle and high school. I do remember those girls uniforms. They were good but some girls made them look really good!!

I am Catholic - went to catholic grade, middle, and high school as well.

filled out a good deal of AACOMAS.....just gotta make some minor adjustments and focus on personal statement....

Interesting article in the San Diego Union Tribune today. Physician shortages in the area continue in the specialties of internal medicine, neurology, orthopedic surgery, and psychiatry. Also, but not to as great a degree (I think thats what the article was saying) are the areas of family medicine, OB/GYN, hematology/oncology, nephrology, otolaryngology and pulmonology. Despite the fact that they seem to have listed every speciality known to man .... yay! My job outlook seems good!

you are sending your LOR to AACOMAS? Don't we just need them for secondaries to send to specific schools?

I was thinking about their NW Track, but I really really am not too impressed by their rotation locations...but mostly because I want to be working in bigger cities (aka not corvallis etc)

When someone says that they need to "get out of XXXXXXX", it usually means moving somewhere totally different. That is, you typically don't say "man, I can't stand it here in North Carolina anymore," and then move to South Carolina.

So whatever it is about Michigan that you're tired of, you probably won't get away from it by moving 2 seconds away to chicago.

CCOM was my top choice, but I've been really impressed by my girlfriends' experience at MSU, plus they have a dual degree program that I want to do.

Yeah, I have to say that if you're looking for "big city Chicago life", you aren't going to find it in Downers Grove.

ill be totally honest... I'm a So Cal boy. blue skies, beaches, 75 degree weather in the middle of december, clouds (whats a cloud?).

i have been exposed to Western the most out of any other DO program (because i go to undergrad about 20 min away) so therefore I know the most about it, ive seen its facilities, ive sat in on classes, etc etc. I don't have exposure to any other school outside of their websites, so its hard to get a feel for what its gonna be like. Its no surpise I am most comfortable with Western and it is definitnely a top choice.

as of right now, western is a top choice b/c I want to stay in california and i would LOVE to stay in southern california. i'm applying to Touro too but likely will not go there even if its the only place in CA i get in to.

Although I agree there really aren't any WOW factors... from what I have gathered I will get a fine education, in an enviornment I know I will enjoy being in... thats why it is a top choice as of right now. it could very likely change as i learn more about each school and what they have to offer as I apply and visit campuses. I realize i could visit a school like DMU, or PCOM, or X and have the feeling "i dont care if this school were on the moon.... this is where I went to be for my medical educaiton." I'm excited to begin searching for that place, and I hope that i find it.

Out of all the other schools I have been most impressed by DMU...so much so that its one of my top choices even though i'll be in iowa (dear god help this california boy survive 🙂).

THanks so much. I too am very impressed by DMU. So far my top choices on paper are DMU and PCOM. If I went to western I probably wouldn't do the NW Track because of the lack luster sites it has.

actually with the horrible state michigan is in right now....anywhere is a good enough change for me. Plus, I am used to the suburb life near Detroit, and Downer's Grove sounds awesome, and I have a family member that lives there. But I'm so glad there's an expert here who thinks they know every factor that goes into my relocation decision.

AACOMAS and Interfolio are now in co-op with one another. So my LORs are being posted to Interfolio. That way I dont have to constantly ask for copies of my LOR to be sent to another school. Interfolio will do all that work for me. The PS is the only thing hanging me up now. UGH!

I have taken those classes but they are over ten years old and according to the med school stuff. No one accepts them when they are that old. I hope to do well enough on the MCAT in Aug (28+) and then finish all of my classes by one year from now, so I can start school.

does anyone know? my primary is complete, but i'm wondering if i should wait another 2 weeks until this semester's grades are finalized - this semester should improve my overall GPA but since this semester was all non PreMed requirements and assuming AACOMAS will process my application now, I was wondering if it was worth waiting those two weeks...

appparenty tehy are already accepting completed applications.....

if its going to significnatly boost your GPA, whether non-science or not, then i think itd be worth to wait the extra 2 weeks. you will still be insanely early so it won't hinder you.

I'm 99% sure that we send them to interfolio since AACOMAS is just the primary application and the letters will not be needed until secondaries are sent.

So...I had a crazy finals week capped by biochem 👎, It's feeling like just another exam week, then all of the sudden today is graduation and I am all done with my BS and my university. It doesn't feel real and it's taking a long time to sink in. Goodbye undergrad pre-med hello Post-Bac premed.
