Class of 2016....how ya doing?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would have loved another semester of histo. 🙁 Our professor was awesome, totally my favourite of the semester and we never have him again.

Lucky! We had so many professors, I can remember 8 right now. And the one we had the most spoke English that I couldn't understand a word of. Passionate professor that I could tell loved Histo, but I couldn't understand a word and it was very frustrating and I didn't learn anything. I think if there's more than 3 professors it just gets to be too much for me. Perhaps if they all used similar approaches, but our notes looked like they were written by many different professors and it made following along hard because you never knew what to expect with the next professor. It was overall a frustrating class that I was horrible in and I'm just happy it's over 🙂.

The smilie you are looking for is 🙁. Anatomy weekend for me 😀

I actually enjoyed anatomy but am definitely excited to move on to more clinically relevant (for me) large animal anatomy. Bring on the nerve blocks!!

FREEDOM!!!!! :soexcited:

I am done! Officially 1/8th of a veterinarian!!!!

Congrats Zanydogs. Only 2 more days til freedom for me 🙂

My last final, which is Histo is on Tuesday and Wednesday. I have absolutely no desire to study for it...doesn't help that I've had a headache every day for the past couple of days.

A two day histo final? That must be awful.

As for me, I have no more desire to study. Somehow I will make it, but I have already had to get out of the house just to open my notes. This anatomy final is not going to go well...

We have the written portion on Tuesday and practical on Wednesday. I really don't mind it being split since I haven't even looked at anything for the practical part yet.

We go till the 19th :eyebrow:
They decided to spread our schedule out like whoa! Exam Tuesday and then the following Wednesday :poke:

I'd honestly rather have ours spread out a bit more if it meant I could take a day to relax after a final before starting to study for another one.

Ugh, not me. 8 more days is torture when I'm just gonna cram the two days before anyway

We have an animal health, welfare and food safety multiple choice exam (24 questions in length) worth a whopping 10% of our grade on Friday.... This is me.... 😴

I have no motivation to study for this exam and honestly will probably end up cramming the few nights before. I am just ready to go home... only 6 more days... :soexcited:

We have a final every other day. Which is fine in principle, because I'm a crammer, but it works out to be two full weeks of finals and at this point I am so, so done. I'd almost rather cram like hell and get off a few days earlier! But maybe it's a grass-is-greener thing 😛

Haha probably is. Since I still don't do the bulk of my studying until the night before.

I like one final each day, it seems to work out well and the way they spaced them is great so we had the weekend for anatomy and then finish off with animal behavior so when we're burnt out it will be something not too bad to study. Thinking my strategy of leaving animal behavior go until after Anatomy might not be the best, but oh well I'll have 5 til bed and then 5 AM- 8 AM the next morning. Shouldn't be too bad. Can listen to lectures in the evening after the anatomy exam because that's probably about all I'll be up for. Really not looking forward to 110 written questions :scared:. Everyone else seems to do better on the written, but so far I've done at least 5% better on the practical than written each time.

My regular exams for histo were split that way as well. A 2-hour written one day and then a 2-hour pratical the next day. The final was a cummulative 4-hour beast all on one day but it wasn't as bad as I thought.

GOOD LUCK to everyone who still has finals! :luck::xf::luck::xf:

I always got near perfect on practical and totally screwed up the written every freakin time . It was so frustrating. I feel your pain.

3 more days to go in ole' Pullman. They gave us our anatomy final on the Friday of dead week which has actually been pretty nice (that was the cram focus for the last 3 weeks but now it's over and done!) Left the weekend wide open to cram for histo/cell phys/surgery.

Good luck to all!!!! Can't believe we are almost there! 😀

Anatomy final in 11 hours. Starting to get nauseated....

We have 8 finals. Clinics exam was on Friday and Immuno was this morning. Histo lecture and lab are tomorrow (2 hours apart..), neuro take home exam is due Wednesday, animal science is Thursday, and anatomy lab and lecture are on Friday (also 2 hours apart..)

I cannot wait to go on a week long cruise with just my boyfriend. We depart on Sunday!😀

Anatomy final was wretched, horrible, disgusting, and depressing.

To make me feel better, I went and bought the dogs some new chews.

Now I'm gonna take a long nap... And I will probably cry myself to sleep.

I'm very certain I'll end up with a D in Anatomy. I needed to make at least a 71 to keep my C.

Chin up. I feel like UTK kids say the same thing every year on here and everyone winds up passing🙂. I am so jealous that you are done with anatomy..You should celebrate! 😀 I recommend a drinking game to your favorite movie (with your friends or boyfriend)..lots of fun!

It's possible I might be retaking the course over the summer, so you're not alone. I felt better about this one than the first one, but I definitely made a ton of stupid mistakes. Having everyone hover around me, just makes me anxious and I can't think straight. We don't do ours where you have like 30 seconds at each station. We have 1.5 hours to wander around all the tables and you're just not supposed to have more than 2 people at a table at a time, but it's not really enforced.

Just hoping that I did well enough to bring my grade up a bit, so that maybe with our test next quarter I can pass. I'm also banking on the curve.

Cheer up you guys. If you do need to take anatomy again, it will be sooo much easier the second time around. You will have a basis start from instead of entering it blindly, an the structures will come to you much more easily.

I just had my Immuno final, and it was rough. It was worth 40% of our grade and it involved 119 T and F questions plus 10 fitb:wtf: It didn't help that a girl in my "cube" was bragging about how she has only missed two questions so far, so she is really not worried. I really hate it when people brag (loudly!) about how easy things are for them! She has also had Immuno before so it should obviously be easier for her.

Pro tip: Go to the doctor before your head cold turns into a raging sinus infection and feels like it has burned the roof of your mouth off. Also because taking finals like that is super.

Had our anatomy lab practical on Friday (written is this Thursday) and I left feeling pretty decent. Had our renal phys final this morning - uuuuugh. I was miserably, horribly, wickedly ill and basically just wanted to finish as fast as possible so I could go to urgent care. So I have no idea what happened. I was doing ok going into it, so I'm hoping that I've maintained that grade at least! Tomorrow is off, Wed is histo, Thurs anatomy written, and Fri is neuro-phys. Soooooo close!

We've got a few of those in my class

And I totally understand WEN. I took all but one of my midterms like that. It wasn't until like two weeks after they finished that I was finally given antibiotics. My anatomy practical was taken with a 102 degree fever. Fun times.

Let me know if you need OJ/whiskey/tissues/drugs/voodoo remedies and I'll see what I can do. I've got a pretty light week if you need anything.

Sorry your anatomy exam didn't go well jamr0ckin.

I think I did good on mine 🙂. The practical was more challenging than the others, but I did really well on it 🙂. Written was well the written and I never do that good on it, but I think I might have pulled an A. It was at least close enough to keep the dream alive a little longer 😀

Your mistake, my friend, was spending time in your cube for any more than 10 seconds necessary to retrieve your stuff 😛

Haha, I usually love my cube, and actually like everyone in there... but her. Atleast I don't study in there.

What is a 'cube'? The only cube we have here are our sad mail boxes (eg. cubby holes)

I wish I could kick every exam's arse as badly as I just kicked that one. 😀

I get my exam grade back tomorrow from our most recent exam.... I have never been more terrified of looking at an exam grade before.... and this exam was so on the fence... I could have either squeaked by or I could have failed miserably..... So scared to look at this tomorrow. :scared:

I'm free! :soexcited:. Animal behavior final could have gone better, but that's OK, it's over 🙂

Behavior was more difficult than I thought. Especially since the 2nd years kept saying "Don't worry about it" "It was the easiest final last year.", etc. There were questions that I had no clue about, but I went with the most logical answer (anything related to fear or food, lol). But I am sooooo glad that it is all over. After taking a nap, I have no idea what to do with myself. 😳

So far I have talked to three people (family/friends) that I haven't had an actual conversation with in weeks. It felt so good to talk to them instead of just sending a quick text like I have been doing.😀

Histo is going to be the death of me. The first part of the semester wasn't too bad but I really, really, really hate the ovary. Especially since the terms we were taught for follicles in lecture are different than what they are using for the practical. They decided to condense terms and it's confusing the s*** out of me and I'm ridiculously frustrated. Decided to skip it for now.

First years at CSU get assigned to a "cube" alphabetically. They are rooms in a hallway with desks for about 17 people. There are 9 cubes and each has its own little library of books, a minifridge, a microwave, microscopes to practice histo. They are nice little hang out spots that are separated from the rest of the university, but as you go on in vet school you get less and less love. 2nd years get a locker, 3rd years get a cubby, and 4th years get nothing, so we have to appreciate them while they last.
Written Histo final sucked.
I just had mine today and it sucked as well. Truly terrible

I'm not very confident about BacT today, but I guess that's not anything new.

Just didn't get much studying done with Mojo being sick. Heading to school now so I can see if the radiographs this morning show need for surgery.

I'M FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Histo practical went alright so hopefully it'll save me again from doing poorly on the written portion. And we got our anatomy practicals back and I did better than before so I'm happy about that.

Let the drinking commence.

Animal science final tomorrow, and anatomy lab and lecture exam (cumulative🙁:scared:) on Friday, then we are done. I am so freaking tired. ugh.

Definitely wasn't easy! Worst grade for me. Oh well, though, it's done 🙂.

Orca2011, did I see that your school actually lets you RETAKE courses over the summer?!

Mizzou = "Hey, you get 9 hours of D allowed total...EVER. 10 hours? You're gone! Oh, I'm sorry honey! You got an F? Poor baby...please pack up your shizz and proceed to the nearest exit. Don't come back."

You can appeal for readmission, but it does sometimes get denied. Then you can appeal to the Dean, then whatever he decides is what goes.

So, I was terrified I was going to fail Anatomy, Physiology. or maybe even both. I officially know that I got a C in Phys (juuuuuuuust barely!) and at LEAST a D in Small Animal Anatomy. And, I actually feel okay about yhe practical portion for once!

HOWEVER....our histo class has its own grading scale. Anything less than 68% is an F.SOMEONE had a sleep attack (I have narcolepsy, extremely well-controlled on medication UNTIL sleep-deprived and stressed at the same time. NOT registered with the disability services office for personal reasons [which, if I'm still here in January, I'm gettin' that crap documented!]) I had a nice low B going into that one....and FELL ASLEEP at the Microscope. Ran outta time, turned the damn thing in probably 75% blank :\ It's a paper exam, so still no clue what I got.

Took the written part yesterday (part computer, which means you see your grade immediately...and part paper). After that, if I assume that I received absolutely no points for either the rest of the written and zero on the practical, I now have 63%.

I think you see where this is going...
I may have failed out because of the ONE CLASS where 63 = F instead of a D like "normal." Because I freaking FELL ASLEEP during the practical. I e-mailed the professor that same night to inform him (not to ask to re-take or even finish the exam...just so he knew I wasn't blowing off his final and there was a legitimate reason for the blank spots!)

Guess who hasn't responded yet?
Guess who sent out an e-mail about ordering notes sets for next semester in the meantime?

Something may be going on with that...I'm freaking out that either A) It was passed on to higher-ups, B) I failed, but they aren't going to tell me until ALL finals are done (today), or I have NO idea.

I have seriously lost my ****. My eyes/face are permanently red and raw this morning. I couldn't study for Neuroscience last night. I tried- we're all pretty burned out, and my poor friends had to deal with me bursting into tears every hour or so.

The ONE CLASS I wasn't terrified of going into finals may have flunked me outta school.

So yeah...this Class-o-16'er isn't doing so hot at all. 🙁

🙁 I'm sorry you're having a really rough time. Finals are stressful enough without having to worry about whether you failed or not. I hope everything works out.

Breathe nordi! What part did you fall asleep in? the written or the practical? Don't assume the worst just yet. Plus you did fill out 25% of whatever section you did fall asleep in, so don't do that to yourself. All you need from your worst case scenario is a 5% increase in your overall grade, and if I'm understanding you right, that should be entirely possible.

Ugh, so sorry Nordi. I hope it works out somehow... Try to keep your head (somewhat) up until you get a final answer.
