Cornell c/o 2018 Applicants!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The closer we get to the 2nd the more I'm questioning what I've done to myself :scared: I have been working my way towards applying to Cornell for over 3 years and I am really scared :nailbiting:

I've got all my fingers and toes crossed for you, Chitty! I know that Cornell is your dream school, and wish you every success in gaining an acceptance phone call come Jan 2nd! I'll be checking this board often, and look forward to see your name under the 'Official Acceptances' thread in just a few days! Hang in there, buddy! Good luck 🙂

LV, you are too sweet! Thanks so much 😀 xo I wish we could go to the same school together!
Me too, Chitty! We'd make a great team 😉 Waiting over here in UT for your news from Cornell with baited breath. Only a few more days!

There are only three possible outcomes now, leading ultimately to just two: either you're in or you're not.
And whatever the outcomes are, you will still be you. You will still have the same passions and goals. You will still do what you like, avoid what you don't, and be the same person you've always been.

Don't let this one outcome control your sanity. This is but one major event in a relatively young life, still mostly unwritten. Take a moment to push back the computer, turn off the screen, and spend some time with family and loved ones. Go for a long walk. Cook an elaborate meal to share. It's your holiday season! Enjoy it! And stop worrying. Heck, if I were you, I'd leave the house for all of Jan 2 and not return until well after 5PM. Because... if you get even a missed call with the right area code, you'll already know what it's for. Why worry yourself sick?

^^ The kind of advice I know is sound, but still resist in a tiny, neurotic way. Thanks for the reminder, @anotherbusybee ! And happy holidays to all!

Made plans to hang out with a friend I only get to see once or twice a year/keep my mind off vet school. Mother Earth decides to dump a buttload of snow on my area. Can't go out and see my friend. This blows great donkey chunks, as @VacaMeansCow would say.

I feel so nervous. Realistically I know I have done everything I could and there is nothing I can do now but I still feel like there is an alien in my stomach. Good luck everyone. I really hope you get good news 🙂

Good luck to all the hopeful c/o 2018 Cornells. I hope we all get the news we desire!

Good luck, everyone! Hopefully we are all smiles by this time tomorrow :luck: :xf: 😀

Leave your phone! Go outside and enjoy some time with friends and family. If you get a missed call from THAT area code, you already know what it's for. So, go forth children and enjoy your life (before vet school sucks it all away; haha, I kid... sorta..)

Area code is 607. We're getting some snow (6-12 inches) over the the next 36 hours so dunno how that affects calls. Maybe host some of you for accepted students day? We'll see.

I have this theory that they'll start with IS, then move on to the other states in the Eastern Time zone, then make their way west. Even though I'm currently in NYC I'm still OOS-CA. :scared:

Woot woot! Congrats, rvasarah! Roll on, Cornell acceptances! Although I'm not a prospective Cornell student, I know that a bunch of peeps on here are. I'm rooting for all of you! I applied to Cornell as an undergraduate, and toured the vet school while I was on site. It is an absolutely beautiful place- top flight, for sure. When I was an undergraduate (I attended Rutgers University in NJ), NJ had contracts with multiple vet schools, including Cornell [as an aside, I feel really sorry for those Jersey folks who missed out on all of those contracts from years ago- y'all really got it tough now when it comes to vet school admissions]. Many of my friends attended Cornell for veterinary school and had stellar experiences there. I'm so stoked to see this board blow up today. Good luck!!!

I've been cooking all morning. Stuffed mushrooms or tabouleh, anyone?

I *love* tabouleh, Chitty. You can send some my way...to Salt Lake City 🙂

Do they send out the rejection e-mails today too? Just being realistic over here cause my GRE scores sucked haha

I'm still anxiously stalking this forum to see who else gets in!! BEST OF LUCK! Let the phone calls roll on!

I'm supposed to be packing for an interview and 1) I can't stop checking the forum and 2) I have no idea how to fold a suit.
Do you have a garment bag as opposed to a hard case? It's much easier to pack formal clothing this way. All you've got to do is put said clothing on a hanger and fold it. Take it with you carry on and you're good to go. Hard case will be rough. Easy to wrinkle your stuff.

Okay, now that I've cried my eyes out, screamed, jumped etc., I can say that I GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They called me at 10:54 this morning and I am an IS student. I am absolutely ecstatic!!!! Congrats to everyone else that got in! And best of luck to everyone else that is still waiting! I have my fingers crossed for you! :luck:

Staring at my phone, willing it to ring. Seems like a lot of IS have heard....maybe they do that first? Here's for a sense of false hope.

Congratulations everyone and don't lose hope if you haven't received a call!

Life happens in funny ways. We all end up where we need to in the end. If anyone is visiting and wants to explore, feel free to PM me, too. Though, on accepted students day, you'll probably be way too tired and overwhelmed to do anything other than return back to the hotel and eat/sleep. Good thing yall aren't here today, though. Typical upstate NY winter storm.

I was the same way! Still shaking a bit and still in disbelief. Mine was from a 607 number (not restricted). I can't wait to meet you all at accepted students day! And there are still many more calls to come, I'm sure! Don't give up hope!!

I just received my acceptance call. I am so excited to the point where I am literally shaking...
Just a side note, the call was from an unavailable number for me. No 607 area code.
Congrats to everyone else who got in. : ]

Congrats! Are you IS or OOS?

I'm OOS. Jennifer Mailey called and said I was the last person on her list.
