Rules:

0. I am the host of the game, and my word is law. I reserve the right to modkill/godkill or substitute anyone out those who break the rules.*

1 (a). You can only talk about the game in the game thread unless specified otherwise. Once you are dead you cannot talk to anyone about the game. Knowledge acquired after death cannot be transferred from a dead player to a living player.
1 (b). Outside influences (eg. Threatening, bribes, wagers, promises, alliances, trust tells) are not tolerated and will be dealt with severely.
1 (c). Sportmanship should be shown. Salting, raging or ranting will not be tolerated. At the end of the day, mafia is played for fun. The general rule of thumb is attack the play, not the player.

2. Every user has a role PM. Role PMs may not be shown to other users at any time. All forms of sharing of role PMs is banned. If anyone finds a person encouraging others to share their role PMs or sharing role PMs themselves, please be sure to report it.

3 (a). You may vote to lynch users during the day by posting in bold "Vote: (user)" or "Lynch: (user)", unlynch users by using "Unvote: (user)" or "Unlynch: (user)". Votes will not be counted if they do not follow this format.
3 (b). Votes can be in shortform as long as I understand who you are voting.

4. Do not delete your posts, if you need to correct something make another post. (I usually ban editing in my games but I'll let y'all go wild.)

5. Only sign up if you know you're going to be at least fairly active. If you do not post/are not active during the day phase, you will be prodded. If you fail to post after the previous prod or require excessive prods, you will be subbed out.*

6. Night talking is disallowed.

7. Extensions will be granted according to the situation.*

8. Actions should be sent during night phase through Forum Pm. If you do not have an action, please send an "idle". Failure of sending any actions during the night phase will result in the host deciding your action for you.

9. I might not be in time to end day at deadline or hammer. In this case the game will enter into Twilight. You are allowed to post but not allowed to vote or unvote users.

10. Angleshooting is strongly discouraged.

11. Do not try to exploit any loopholes or circumvent the rules.

*-will be judged at the discretion of me.

Foreword from the Host:

The Countdown setup is my baby that I've been working on for the past 2.5 years. With that said, it's very imperfect and I am constantly adjusting it between play-tests. This game will be no different from the previous games in the sense that I will be carefully observing your gameplay decisions in order to determine how the setup should be changed going forward. This is especially critical because I'm waiting on news about being contracted to host Countdown 3 for my homesite's big yearly event.

With that out of the way here's some information about this game:
The setup has 6 non-town members. Most important is the Night 5 Black Goo Compulsive Lightning Rod Cultist, which will redirect all actions to itself on Night 5, and convert all roles targeting it to the Cultist Alignment. This is where the setup gets its name from. The Mafia and Serial Killer try to achieve their own individual win cons by preventing this from happening. Town must eliminate all the non-town threats to their wincons. The Survivor can only win when another faction enacts their wincon.

This game will be hosted with exactly 18 players. Not a single one more or less.

The flavour of this game will revolve around the number 25. This is all I will reveal for now because I didn't figure out the rest yet. However, expect flavour to be minimal, non-impactful and completely skippable. The main focus of this game is the setup, not so much the peripheral elements.

And in case you feel like diving deeper into this setup's past:

Here are the previous playtests

And here is the document link where I keep it recorded, including a full changelog

Also hi I have many questions
- what is angleshooting?
- what is natural action resolution?
- how does the serial killer control half of the town in order to win?
- this is some mechanics stuff that idk if you want to talk about, but can strongman bypass the N5 lightning rod and go to its target? Also can you choose not to use your night action (ex. tourist)? Also does the lightning rod also get struck by all potential kills N5 and therefore die? Also if the lightning rod gets targeted for kill N5, do they die without achieving win con? Also how does the lightning rod not auto win if they’re still around on N5 if everyone has a night action and will therefore be converted to cultist? Also does the survivor win alongside the winning faction or do they win independently if still alive? Also are role reveals permitted on thread or not?

Ooh ooh I have another one: for the parity cop, let’s say they look at a mafia player one night and the serial killer the next. Would those be considered the same alignment, as in “not-town”?

-angleshooting is using information from outside of the game to make reads
-https://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Natural_Action_Resolution
NAR can be summed up by saying that I'm resolving the actions that resolve other actions first. For example, if a roleblocker is targeting a doctor who is targeting a cop, the roleblocker resolves first since it doesn't have anything targeting it and it's modifying other actions.
-The strongman NK is non-preventable. Tourists are a compulsive action but everything else (Cop, RB, Vig, Docs) are non-compulsory. Via NAR, the convert resolves before the kills do because of the triggered action rule. The PGO does someting similar in that it will resolve before the actions targeting it do. The idea behind the setup is that the game will end on N5 via the Lightning Rod with it winning, unless there are some extremely unfortunate circumstances. But I've adjusted the numbers enough and we can all cross our fingers that nothing goes terribly wrong. The Survivor indulges in a joint win if it enacts its wincon and won't detract from any other factions that win. You can claim your role but you cannot paste or directly quote your role pm. But saying what you are is completely acceptable.

Also will the strongman kill still kill the serial killer if they still have their death avoidance?

nope those would count as differing alignments, despite them both revealing as Not Town post flip. Parity Cop will receive inspects in the form of Same or Different.
