I picked Kata for more than just being quiet.

My original reasoning:

And Kata is in PBC's group. As STB pointed out, the wolves might be more likely to try to steal an ability from someone they know for certain is not tithing. If that's the case, then it would follow there may be a good chance there's a wolf in either PBC or STB's group, since neither of them were tithing when targeted. Not much, but not nothing.

Kata checked in after she saw my initial vote for her, so she has a reason to check in again tonight before lynch close. Without an attempt at a defense, I feel like she's a pretty good choice in the absence of any other info.

Your game piled more anxiety on with the very real possibility of being mod-killed. Though any mod in any game could potentially mod-kill a player, it's not usually a method of death that players need to be cautious about. In your game it was. Thus, more anxiety for PBC.

Though I would never pretend that I know how to WW correctly, and I suspect 99% of the time I'm paranoid, anxious, AND doing it wrong. So there's that.

2) he could have blocked me.
3) his posts seem not particularly intended to be value added.
 
No one in my group could have tried to steal my ability last night. If they had tried, it would have worked, because our shutters only prevent people from entering/leaving. It had to have been someone not in my hold.

I am willing to looking at FB's hold (on the thought that someone knew she wasn't tithing when they tried to steal her ability).

Couldn't anyone have blocked you? I'm curious how you narrowed it down to FFM.

They would only need to have one wolf in your hold to know you weren't tithing. That same person wouldn't necessarily have to be the ability thief. But did your whole group know in advance about the shutters?

Yes, that's exactly what I was referring to when I said your additional points made! (that you weren't just saying it because she's quiet, you had these reasons). Been catching up sporadically through the day, and faced the usual annoyance of being unable to look back and quote the specifics on mobile...

So this is what the thread shutters in the write up were referencing?

So you were told that someone tried to steal your ability but was blocked by the shutters? Or was it less clear than that?
 
I was asking who was quiet not with the intention of a wolf hunt, but of maybe finding a pattern. If things change on that front, than just maybe we have more info about game mechanics.

Lynch AM

Of the people in my hold and the interactions we've had in our pm thread, I think AM would be most likely to be a wolf. I'll put my vote there.

:laugh: It's true. I'd rather not modkill when I probably should a couple times over a modkill when I really shouldn't. If that makes sense.

But people not contributing at all should also probably not stand under any large trees this game.

This is a busy kind of weekend for a lot of people. It is reasonable that folks would have other stuff to do in the real world. I'm just saying. I don't want to just dogpile on Kata without giving her a chance. So, I'm going MJ. I want to call him out and give him a chance to say it ain't so, if he can. So, understanding that it is subject to change:

Any particular reason? I am inclined to vote for someone in PBC's group to test a minor hunch I have. I'd be interested in hearing your reasons.

Mostly her lack of involvement in our hold (realizing the valid points made earlier about silence =\= wolfy). I'm more inclined to trust those groupmates that have tithed, contributed information, and been involved with our discussion. We've had complete radio silence from AM.

My hunch has to do with this. I would argue that it's possible that the wolves are banking on this and are at least appearing to tithe (whether or not they actually do is a different matter). You saying that AM has not tithed has actually made me less suspicious of her. Again, it's just a hunch, and probably a dumb one, but that's what I'm currently working with.

Eh. I have not volunteered to tithe, but it's because I'm crusty and grumpy and my ability is my ability and even if it isn't ooo la la amazing, I want to have SOMETHING to do during the nights.

If I were a wolf, I'd volunteer to tithe and then just privately retract it via PM to the mods, which the mods made clear was a possibility.
 
I should add: That's not meant to entirely discount your thinking, guisantes. I'm glad you've got a reason. I just think it probably won't end up being a fulfilling line of thought.
 
Not getting a feeling that we are going to get a wolf with the kata lynch, just how I feel.

I have some feels on FFM and not because of the mention of a blocker earlier. It was more his claim of not liking bandwagons and often doing "throwaway" votes early on but during the first lynch he bandwagoned on me just fine, then changed and bandwagoned on LoTF, so kind of did opposite of his claim.


I could also vote LoTF just because of her aggressive play and how it does interfere with the game as dyachei mentioned as well.

I had some feels on someone else as well but now can't recall who it was.... I'll try to figure it out again.

Fair enough! Like I said, it's just feels, and minor ones at that. I'm not trying to imply that everyone who has tithed is a wolf and everyone who hasn't tithed is innocent, or course. I'm just thinking out loud.

The second thing you said is actually kind of what I'm saying, though. Just phrased better.

I did just mention in my hold thread that I doubt we will be able to determine who is or is not a wolf based on who agrees to tithe. I also said I doubt many will disagree. Though, I definitely agree with the above. My ability is MY ability damn it. And having something to do is nice.

I've been very talkative, just not on the main thread. I don't know the lore very well, so I don't want to throw much out there until I've got a better idea of what we're working with. Bouncing ideas off of my group mostly.

FFM was bandwagoning anyone who would not be him in the lynch. He would have been a goner if he hadn't. I don't see this reasoning for him being a good one.

Let me explain. No there is too much. Let me sum up.

The books read like fantasy with dragons and medieval modes of survival, but it is in reality science fiction. The dragons are all genetically engineered fire lizards specifically designed to fight thread. Thread are alien spores that get dropped on Pern every 200 years. Think Leonid meteor showers, but dropping alien worms that eat anything organic. Essentially they protect the human settlements and crops from destruction in return for the faithful tithes of the people they protect. The dragons are able to do this because they are telepathic, breath fire and can teleport.

According to myth, all but one Weyr (dragonrider strongholds) disappeared several hundred years ago. The white dragon figured out dragons can teleport though time and space and brought them forward 400 years. This is important, because the science fiction level interstellar travelers pretty much got wiped out by thread the first time (hence the medieval society). That is kind of the gist of things.
 
I really don't think we will net a wolf lynching kata...I'd be happier picking someone in either FB's or PBC's group. I will

Can we get an updated lynch tally? I want to look over other people's votes one more time before I put in a lynch vote.

I'm not currently feeling most of these lynches though, so I'll have to think on it a bit. I don't think lynching quiet players will net us a wolf, but I also think it could leave us with villagers who participate more, which is always good.

But does that mean you think STL is the white dragon, because that is what this seems to say. And other than the quiet and a post edited to say ".", do we have a reason to believe it?

I want him protected if there are reasons, but if not and this is all hope and speculation... maybe we should investigate further before claiming him as the last great hope?
 
I do really miss the longer lynch cycles. This has been a struggle.

Page 2 and 3 are mostly people trying to figure out the theme and how it will affect this game. Plus the standard LIS/SOV exchange of votes. A few random votes here and there otherwise. Guise said he (right?) was attacked, FB said somebody tried to steal their ability. A few votes are placed based on the assumption that someone in Guise's group was the likely attacker.

Top of page 4 is 2 hours left in the day. A few more mostly random lynchés occur and the last 15 minutes is outlined in too much detail above.

How is the move going? Fish tank survive and all the Littles doing well?

Thanks for the rundown!

Fishies are fine, the oldest of the three hasn't been looking great but that was going on before the move. Kitties are settling in nicely. Everyone is comfortable but me...I need a bed!

Still catching up, I'm on page 7, but I'm finding lotf's posts distracting (and bringing up stuff from not only outside the game, but from an entirely different part of the forum? Come on now) and overly defensive. She does pull the emotional manipulation card as a villager though - as do I, so I know it when I see it - so still iffy on whether or not my vote will be going that way.

The discussion of choosing someone from fb's group interests me at the moment, will be looking into that further.
 
I want to place a lynch vote, but it seems like I have the choice between random voting or lynching based on bits and pieces of theory that don't sound like they add up to much.

Why so sure that blocking is wolfy? Blocking can also be protective. It all depends on who is wielding it right?

That Thread shutter thing sounds like a protective measure to me, for instance. It seemed to keep out the ability thief, which sounds like a positive thing to me. And if Thread had been coming down, that could be a great thing.
