Heh, I've been done for the semester since Friday, got home yesterday. I suppose I can listen tomorrow while I go about unpacking.

I just listened to The Chimes on my trip home. Man it gets dark...Dickens didn't mess around!

I forgot just how many people read my ps. Hahaha. Logistically probably not the best idea, but I was proud af of that PS.

that was my second to last draft of my ps's. I it was an ultimate level of sad, talking about how I was made fun of growing up for my voice and private practice is mainly killing puppies and dealing with cancer... needless to say, that version was scrapped, but that perspective allowed me to remove the doe-eyed perspective of veterinary medicine my original PS's had

Yeah, nobody had a good time in Dickens novels. I think the only fictional characters who had it consistently worse are the ones in Les Mis.

Victor Hugo was a cruel man (still need to read the book). I love Les Mis though. My bettas are all Barricade Boys, and I can't even think of the color red without singing.

My first draft of my PS was about the butterfly room at work, which was where we euthanized animals at the time. Yeah, that was scrapped like two paragraphs in. It was a little too darkest possible timeline.

You didn't haha. Only my mom did haha. I still have it somewhere. It didn't last past a couple of days. Before I officially finished it, I reread it and realized that it was a bit toooooo dark. So the next day at work, I had the greatest day, and got to actually shadow the SA vet instead of doing kennel tech stuff- scrub in on a couple surgeries, got to watch him in the rooms with clients, he talked me through the diagnostic processes, let me be the first to look at the slides for ear cytology and a biopsy and had me figure out what they were. Quizzed me over things I had learned in previous courses and how they applied to SA vet med.

It was honestly the greatest day I've ever had at the clinic- for the first time, I felt like what I was doing mattered and was important.

You don't have to start completely from scratch, just revise it and discuss how your application has changed. But I bet you'll get accepted somewhere and it won't matter!

I'm nervous about it too. I thought that my PS this year was really solid and unique--I'm not sure I can top it. Also really nervous about asking evaluators to submit for me again =\

I know. :/ especially since I wasn't planning on going back to work at the original clinic. I love working at the clinic more than anything, but I have to diversify my experiences 🙁

Not sure where you applied, and not sure what interviews you have/had, but if you really want to try and still get in this year you could always apply to Ross. You could probably even start in May with them.. Don't give up hope! Have you heard back from all of your schools?

Honestly, Ross and the other Caribbean schools aren't an option for me. Not at all because I don't think they are good schools--I know many great vets who have graduated from Caribbean schools. My problem would be the drastic life changes that come with moving down there. I know myself, and I know I wouldn't be able to succeed in an environment so dramatically different than what I'm used to. I would likely get depressed, homesick--I just know it wouldn't be good. I'm going to need to keep trying to get into a US school just for the sake of my own mental well-being.

I am waiting to hear back from 2 schools, one being my IS. Not hopeful for either of them, but we'll see.

Yeah, I understand that. It's definitely not for everyone. I just have friends there who are doing really well and like it a lot. Just thought I'd mention it! I hope you get into your IS though, that would be great!

LOL. I'm writing a paper for an independent study I did this semester. Grades are due at the end of the week, and my professor needs a finished product! I kept putting it off because she is really scary and the whole situation made me really nervous. Just want to get it done and have it be over with. I'm also kind of a night owl.

Yeah it is. I normally stay up until about 2 anyway. I can't decide if I should email the paper to her or if I should go to school and print out a copy to hand it to her. I gave her a hard copy of my draft, but I also don't really want to see her in person >_>

Don't worry too much about the PS--I was dreading having to find ways to edit/alter mine, but once this cycle rolled around and I began rereading and making changes, I'd basically rewritten the whole thing by the end of it. A bit of time really lets you look at it in a different way and see what could be improved.

The asking evaluators to resubmit thing really does suck though...ugh. If only there was some way to roll previous cycle eLORs over too.

I got an interview email on Dec 5 for Kansas. The interview date is 1/31
 
Is anyone applying to University of Guelph in Ontario?
I'm filling out a prerequisite form for them and I have no idea how to calculate my grades into the Canadian GPA format. I'm not even sure if that's what they want. I've already harassed them with questions and I would like not to go to them again unless I have to...help? Just wondering if anyone else has already done this. I don't want to mess up!
 
Somebody make the official acceptances thread already! I keep seeing people post about acceptances on individual school threads but I want y'all's joy contained in one glorious thread so I can go on a liking spree more easily. 😉

Plus, I think some schools are getting back to people tomorrow (Western?)! You need the thread up and running before then! 😛

I'm willing to give leeway on the stats thread since some people don't post on it until they've heard back from all schools and some places don't get back to people until like February or later.

BUT! If anybody has heard back from everybody then you should make that thread and then post in it.

ahh you see, I don't want to make these threads cause I have been neither invited to interview nor accepted, therefore I would have nothing to say

(I did make and contribute to the rejection thread so that's me contributing to the c/o 2021)

That's the "class of 2021, how you doin?" thread, which is generally started a little later on but seems to happen earlier and earlier every year, so what the hell, might as well start it!

I would think it would be too early for that one. Wouldn't schools finish sending out their initial acceptances before they make a waitlist?

I'm really tempted to post the stats thread though. That one I think was up in November or December last year... but I don't want to be the only post if people are just going to wait until they finish hearing from schools. 😛
