Glasgow 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats to everyone! One thing I’m worried about as a student from the US is the NAVLE pass rate being quite low, and Glasgow being placed on probationary accreditation. Can anyone speak on what they know about this, and things they are doing to approve? Thanks!!!

What I heard was that the scores dipped during COVID times but have been increasing since they've been able to resume normal teaching styles.
For me, I'm not too concerned because the NAVLE is for the US and even though I'm from the US, I'd rather try to stay in the UK/Europe lol. I do understand that others would want to come back. The mentioned in the info session that they have on campus resources to help students practice.
I'm not a student there (hopefully I will be), so this is just what I've heard 🙂

I have insight to this bc I have many friends at Glasgow (my undergrad had a feepass program that accepted people early). They said recently the dips were originally Covid related but now they think it’s bc lots of UK students have been signing up for the exam basically “for ****s and giggles” to see if they pass. More students want the opportunity to practice in the states as our salaries are much much higher so they’re more willing to take the chance and take the test but don’t really study for it. Creates a lot of variable data for the pass rates it seems

I asked about this during my interview and they said that they plan to ramp up resources for people who plan to take the NAVLE and if I remember correctly, they plan to incorporate NAVLE prep courses into the curriculum in some way

bruh mine was back on 11/20 💀
Yeah, I can't remember if it was before or after Christmas either, was hoping for before just so I can lay off my email and chill regardless of decision
Everytime I get a notification I rush to my email then double check the spam folder lol. It doesn't help I get dozens of emails a day from work

ughh it's such a toxic cycle I need someone to slap me and say this to me every time I want to refresh my email. 😆

I know all my relatives are going to be asking me about vet school stuff at Christmas and all I have are rejections I like really don't want to talk about it at all but it's the first thing everyone brings up RIP. The crashout is real

I totally get that. I haven't told some of my family members for that reason. The downside is that most of my classmates and professors know because my advisor told everyone lol. He's far too optimistic and was telling people I got in before I even submitted the application 🙄

I told my family twice about rejections. This is my third cycle and the first time I’ve gotten to tell them I’ve accepted an offer. Keep your heads high.

They told me ideally before but could be a few days after

I'm really hoping they send out the last acceptances/rejections tomorrow. I would hate to be rejected right before the holiday but I'm so impatient, I just want to know what's going on!
Does anyone know when Glasgow is supposed to finish interviewing applicants? I could've sworn on the interview booking site they only had dates until December 20th, but I could be wrong.

I feel this so much. I don't think family outside of the field can fully comprehend how competitive it really is!!

Hello!! Are you planning to accept the offer? I would love to connect with you if you are!! 🙂)
I'm honestly not very sure if I will accept it, as I am still debating between glasgow and edinburgh! Is glasgow your first choice 😳

Ahh I see! Good luck with your decision! Yes haha I’ll be accepting Glasgow 🙂

Glasgow > Edi. Edi is expensive(-er) to live and more touristy and the vet school is kind of inconveniently placed imo

I haven't heard anything from Glasgow since the interview. I feel like I've been forgotten haha. When do you think I should reach out to them to see the status of my application?

Same here, no acceptance or rejection. I’m giving it until January 3rd if they don’t send anything at all since they mentioned before or shortly after Christmas for decisions (I’m US international). Hope it’s before then but if it’s still radio silence by January I might just send a friendly email to ask what the timeframe is looking like 🙂

You’re not alone. I also haven’t heard back, they said if not before Christmas than a few days after

Just to let you know everyone is out of office for holidays until the 3rd!

Any emails for anyone? I know they're probably getting caught up on emails, but I'm going crazy waiting to hear something.

I emailed yesterday and Gillian replied letting me know that everyone would be back in office on Monday and would do applicayion reviews next week. Hopefully we'll hear something in a week or two

Any tips would be appreciated. Especially about the dress code.
I wore slacks, nice but not fancy blouse, and a blazer. I only put a little bit of foundation on to keep my face from turning red lol. It was a very casual and relaxed interview

Since it was online, I was still wearing pj’s for my pants (it was 6am and I was tired!!), but for my top I just wore a plain black turtle neck to be comfortable.
As for the interview, as said before, it is pretty casual. They have access to your application and for me they asked a few questions regarding/related to my experiences. good luck!!!

I was thinking the same thing. It's weird because I interviewed back in November and they haven't communicated whether I'm accepted or rejected yet. Tbh it's very frustrating
I’m also frustrated. They told me during my interview that I would receive a decision “shortly”…this doesn’t feel very short lol. It’s not just this school though— I feel like a lot of the schools I applied to in general are not communicating well at all, so this unfortunately is not surprising 😭
