howard

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
When I interviewed (in March) we were told that the class is not yet full, so that's good news.

patient,

when did you get interview invite?? is it from mail or e-mail. I am also waiting to hear from them also.

anyway, congrat to your interview.....

On Friday April 5 I was at Howard just re-visiting the school since I was already in DC visiting a friend. Anyhow I talked to the admissions people about orientation and questions about where to look for housing and one of the ladies happens to mention that they intend to hold interviews 2-3 weeks before orientation! Don't hold me to this because I am not sure this person knew what they're talking about. But if that is true you late invites have a good chance.

I think that it is ridiculous and extremely unorganized to interview students weeks before class actually begins. I would think that July 2001 to March 2002 is plenty of time for them to know who they want in their class. Also, in respect to financial aid, I can see how a late acceptance might create a problem for some students.

sorchuchu.

I was surprised to see my invitation for interview because I never heard anything after sending my app. I was expecting a rejection letter.

sorchuchu

It came by mail. It was as light as rejection letters

I would like to know if the interview at howard is one on one or one on two.
Is it open or close fill.
Please help me for the interview feedback .com is dead for this year.

I didn't get a student interview, because I had a train to catch, but you have to make sure you get a faculty interview (that's the one that counts). Everything is one on one though.

Mellow,

I am 99% sure I am gonna be at Howard. Maybe I'll see you there.

Patient,

Be really prepared to explain why Howard and to explain any grades less than B. Also emphasize your volunteer work. BTW I did not have a student interview either.

•••••I really hope to see you too this fall. How long from your interview date did you get feedback from them? I want to call but I am not sure if they give out status info over the phone. I also don't want to call too soon. I will probably start bugging them in two weeks.

Nevermind Medicine2006, I believe I just read the answer to my question in an old PM you sent me.

I interviewed in mid feb and got my acceptance exactly 5 weeks later.

I don't mean to sound so bitter in my previous post. It's just that I was accepted at a couple of other medical schools but Howard remains one of my top choices. I am currently on the alternate list at Howard but fear that they may not let me know that I am accepted until I begin classes at another medical school if they continue to interview so late in the process. I guess I just need to continue to pray about it and be patient.

Email it to her if you want (her email addy is on the website) her to get in ASAP. I am waiting for news from them. Good Luck

I have actually already written a letter of intent. I think that what it may come down to is that I may have to start med school one place first only to have to move if/when Howard accepts me. I guess only time will tell!

You should bear in mind that Howard will not be able to offer an acceptance once you have matriculated at another school.

sbajenkins,
What makes you believe that? I think that you are wrong about that. If you are waitlisted at a school it is possible for you to be accepted as late as August.

I too believe it is possible to accept a spot that opens up even if you already started at another school.

According to the AAMC rules, schools are not supposed to offer any acceptances after someone starts school or an orientation program. However, the rules are not always followed.

•••quote:•••
After an applicant has enrolled in a U.S. school of medicine or begun a brief orientation program contiguous to enrollment, no further acceptances should be offered to that individual. Once enrolled in a school, students have an obligation to withdraw their applications promptly from all other schools. Enrollment is defined as being officially registered as a member of the first-year entering class at a school.

AGHHHHHHH BUMP!!!!

Oh wait...now I have a real post.

I interviewed almost 4 weeks ago at Howard. During my interview, my interviewer said my letters of rec. were not in my file. I started to worry but he said not to worry that he will find them and match them up later. Now we all know how Howard is.......... 🙁 🙁 Need I say more.

I just remembered this this weekend, should I call him to ask if he found my letters (that's if he remembers who I am...I think he should because we had an interesting conversation)...or should I call the office of admissions ( 🙁 ) and ask if they ever got it. Actually I am sure they got it because all other schools did, so Howard probably misplaced it.

What should I do?? WHo should I call? Ghostbusters?

Sbajenkins

Have heard anything yet from howard or meharry.
I am pretty sure I met you at meharry on the 18 th of march.

I have an interview at howard but no feeling good about it.
