Hey everyone... traffic on this thread's been droppin' off as of late- must be summertime or something 😉
Anyway, just wanted to let everybody know that I'll be movin' down to LA next week, and I'd love the chance to meet any of my fellow M1s (M2s or M3s as well). I'll be using July for apartment hunting, hitting the beach, and generally kicking back, as well as going to The Price is Right. I don't know how many tickets I'll be able to snag, but the taping is on July 22- first come, first served!

Yeah, they sent out the first of three mailings a couple of weeks ago. I didn't get it either so I called and they sent me one. It contained the survival guide and some other information. You should call.

we're still struggling with a place to live... we found out that my boyfriend will be working on the 90/405 project just north of lax... he wants to live in hermosa/redondo... but i think that might make my commute to school pretty unbearable... i went up again last thursday to drive around... and its really nice there by the beach... but then i saw the traffic on the 110!! ahhhh!!!

Don't do Redondo, no matter what you do. As anybody who got the survival guide will attest, it's an hour drive each way with good traffic. You should probably get a place to live in Santa Monica, if that's where he is located. But no matter what you do, not redondo.

I'm posting to find out if anyone knows when the beginning of the year camping trip takes place. I'm trying to travel as much as possible this summer (last few weeks of freedom!!), but I want to be sure that I am in town for the trip.

'Probe and Compass' I think it's called? I dunno. . . learned about it from the salerni survival guide.

Are all you incomings planning to attend?

actually, since i used to live in palos verdes i can honestly say, in the morning, it's more than a one hour drive 🙂 freeway access to redondo sucks...but that's why it's such a nice place to live i guess...that and the beach......i miss the marine layer 🙁

i'm always a little shy at first...mostly because people always tell me i have a soft voice, and so at first i'm hesitant to talk because i'm afraid people can't hear me....i don't think it's soft, but then i have the hearing of a dog....anyway, that's probably the one thing i'm scared of...being too shy 😉

on the other hand, anyone else excited as hell to start?

Santa Clarita??? You are crazy. As for Mar Vista, that would add on an extra 15 minutes to your commute compared to Santa Monica (And that's impressive for only a 5 mile distance.

Most people live in the same 3 miles (monterrey hills, pasadena) and get together around there, so it isn't really a problem getting to know everybody. If you live as far away as you say you are going to, you probably wil have problems making the things that everybody else does and you will miss out some. I know the guy who lived in Redondo last year hardly made a single thing.

YOu should go on the camping trip. Definately one of the funnest things you can do all year, even if you arn't a camper. Trust me, you will feel like you are missing out if you don't.

As for the sched, basically here it is in a nutshell. 20 hours lecture, 2hours touchie feelie, 3 hours ICM, and every other week 3 more hours ICM.
