LECOM Class of 2025 Interview/Acceptance Thread

I wonder if they only send 105 acceptances on the initial acceptance day on Dec 15th. Because I know other schools like Midwestern send more than the number of seats they expect to fill. 🤔
Unless they changed it this year because of COVID, LECOM does 2 acceptance days, one in Dec and one in Jan. I am not sure if the first batch is supposed to fill the class but if they kept it the same they send it in two batches, so don’t be upset if you don’t hear a decision from them right away!

Lol for real! I don't think they call at all on Dec 15th though. It's either email or nothing.

I recall them saying if you are accepted you will get an email and they also said generally all good news is by email and anything bad is by mail.

To avoid confusion it may be wise to change this to LECOM School of Dental Medicine Interview/Acceptance Thread

The one in january is for seats that have opened due to people who were offered acceptance in December not paying their deposit to reserve their seat. So i’m pretty sure everyone getting a first round acceptance finds out Dec. 15! They just notoriously have lots of students decline seats so they sent the next round in january.

I'm not sure either, but I don't think it would make sense for LECOM specifically to send out 105 acceptances on the first round. Yeah, people will decline, but we are also interviewing until April this cycle so it wouldn't make sense to send out 105 day one.

Yes, so that would mean 2 acceptance days then... and I definitely agree with FloppyToast that it is most likely not the entire class considering there is another round in Jan and tons of post-Dec interviews to consider. I am speaking on the fact that they set two days aside for acceptances, and it isn’t acceptances given out randomly until after that second round drops. I am a current D1 who got in in Dec and have many classmates who got in in the Jan round but also interviewed pre-Dec. So again everyone, if you don’t hear on Dec 15th stay patient!

Man oh man this makes me nervous hahaha keeping my fingers crossed

You'll be fine. You already went in with an advantage if you looked at the interview questions on here. Gotta suck having to wait until mid December this cycle though. Lol

Once you get the rejection letter, it's game over BUT no news is good news because it means you're still in the running. So don't give up hope if you don't get a first round acceptance email.

Does anyone have any suggestions on why I LECOM may choose not to even interview me? My stats are above their averages, I have lots of volunteering / shadowing experience, and I'm a hygienist. LECOM was one of my top choices, and I've received interviews at schools with average stats way higher than that of LECOM's. I'm just wondering if anyone can help me understand, because I'm a little worried / upset! My stats should be listed in the signature. Thanks so much for your time, and good luck to those who've interviewed already or have them coming up!

I’m in the same boat!

I've heard that sometimes they just assume you would choose to go somewhere else if your stats are too far above their average applicant, so they don't even waste their time interviewing you. I hope this isn't true, because it seems backwards and could put some people at a disadvantage if they don't choose to apply to the "right" schools based off their stats. I could understand choosing not to apply to schools who's stats are a lot higher than yours, but not the opposite. Seems backwards and it makes me sad!! 🙁

I don't know anything internally, but from experience lecom's interview invite criteria seems to be a complete enigma. I have friends that I worked with in a clinic that have almost the exact same experiences as I did that didn't even get a secondary. It's not stat based I think cause I know a number of 4.0 people that interviewed. I do think that the personal statement is probably extremely influential with their choice to follow up.

I had another school I interviewed with tell me that my personal statement was one of the best they'd ever read. (I've been through alot of trauma, LMAO) but I guess maybe LECOM just wasn't meant for me this time around. I've had 5 interviews with other schools including UNC Chapel Hill and Nova so I'm extremely grateful for what I've had so far. Was just really hoping to hear from LECOM!

If I was in your position I would expect a post december interview. I know lecom does tons of those and I doubt they would rule you out over thinking you wouldn’t choose them. I think it’s a super random process and they honestly may not have even reviewed your app yet! It’s all speculation but it could be so many reasons. If you haven’t gotten a rejection I definitely wouldn’t count yourself out for a later interview.

I want to emphasize that last sentence (for everyone),

"If you haven’t gotten a rejection I definitely wouldn’t count yourself out for a later interview."

since I see you are a student there, what would you say about post-dec interviews? Typically how many post-december interviews do they send out?

Numerically, I have no idea but I do know that a good percentage of each class comes from either post-Dec interviews or acceptances.

They have interview dates 1x a week set aside up until the end of April. Whether or not they actually will use all of those dates I do not know. But like joker said, a very good number of students come from post-december interviews.

I am also a hygienist that had above average stats and got interviews at multiple schools including UNC and am now a D1 here! I agree with the others that no news is good news! I would say wait until post December and if you’re still wanting to interview it can’t hurt to send a letter of interest. I am a true believer that you will end up where you were meant to go but also that it’s ok to express interest if there is a school you can really see yourself at! Don’t count yourself out yet, you obviously have a great app, and there are still a good amount of post-Dec interviews to go!

Hey all! To anyone who has interviewed at LECOM dental this cycle, which faculty members interviewed you?

Anyone else feel like throwing up??
Lol! All jokes aside, good luck tomorrow to everyone. If you hear back with an acceptance, feel free to ask myself or any other current student on here any questions about LECOM. If you are lucky enough to have choices tomorrow, I understand that it is not an easy task and I know that it’s even more difficult for you all being online this cycle, so seriously feel free to ask me anything. I am here to help as much as I can. For those that don’t hear back tomorrow, the cycle still has a long way to go! Take a few deep breaths, and try to make some plans to keep yourself busy. Your time will come! Sending good vibes to everyone for tomorrow and I hope you get the best news!

Yeah definitely. Feel free to message us about anything. I know that interview QA session is really short and only a couple get to ask questions.

Is there only one set of emails sent out at one specific time? Or are they rolling all day?

Will they be sending out more emails? I still haven’t gotten anything either way 🙁
In past cycles LECOM has sent their acceptances out on acceptance day in one batch. I don’t know 100% if it’s the same this year but in past years that is how they’ve done it. Hang tight though, this is only the first day of acceptances and there is still plenty of time to hear back!

Especially with Lecom, not getting a first round means very little. As we said before, so many of our classes are full of people on the waitlist or post Dec interviews. People turn down lecom all the time because of various things.

So are more acceptances going to go out?
