I'm not a current student, but I think everyone is technically still in the running until all decisions are sent. So if you haven't received a declination, then no you haven't been rejected yet (if that makes sense lol). But I'm pretty sure they send a "send your fall transcripts" email to all applicants.

*edit* I haven't received anything from LMU yet either so I feel your pain with the waiting haha

Lol!!! Thank you!!!

Its 6 bucks to send so I said what the hell what can it hurt. By now we probably aren't but who knows, maybe we are. Haven't heard anything but that email.

I got that email too. I mean has anyone got a rejection from this school?

I think after their first wave of acceptance, I don’t think they will send the rest of their acceptance/rejection/waitlist until March where they said they originally send them out. Don’t trust me as I could be wrong but that’s my theory

Also heard about the full accreditation from a current student!!!!

Source? Not finding any articles or anything regarding this from my cursory googling.
Current 3rd year here that has been watching this thread probably since the beginning (including all the talk after the VIN article was released). I can confirm that we have received full accreditation. My source? The dean himself. As a 3rd year, I love it here. I had 8 hrs of lab today, 6 of which are electives I chose to take. LMU is a different school. You have to pick the school that suits you and LMU is a good fit for me. So I wonder when VIN is going to write an article about LMU-CVM's full accreditation. I'll be waiting.:corny:

Yeah, I was looking more along the lines of something like a VIN article or an updated AAVMC roster. Or even just an update to LMU's Accreditation page; I'm surprised that it hasn't yet been changed to reflect its newly fully accredited status since it's a pretty big deal. I also wanted a formal written statement by the school so that I can update the content on my veterinary school admissions information website and actually have something to reference back to rather than just a verbal announcement that I'm not there to hear, anyway. Paper trail, and all that. I'm sure that'll come in time, though.

I'm a little confused as to why the bolded was included in your response to my post. I'm glad that you love the school, but I'm not currently applying and moreover nowhere in that post did I imply that LMU isn't a fine veterinary school or a good fit for some people.

I have no idea why that's bolded either. Weird. I was just replying as a source of information that it was official and just making a general statement since I know there are some people that don't like parts of LMU (don't like not having a teaching hospital, rotations off campus, the fact that it's a new school, ect.). Here is an article from LMU. We just heard today so it might take a day or 2 to update the websites. LMU-College of Veterinary Medicine Celebrates Full Accreditation - Lincoln Memorial University

Oh wow the accreditation is great news! Does anyone know of lmu’s plan of developing a teaching hospital?

Would the absence of a teaching hospital be a significant disadvantage to the quality of the program? Thank you!
They have no plans to develop one. They do a distributive model and send students elsewhere for clinics. Western in California also has no teaching hospital and neither do the Caribbean schools. I personally like having a teaching hospital, but to each their own.

Teaching hospitals prevent you having to move to do clinicals etc. All schools graduate good vets but you just have to go where you feel is best..or in my case the ones that would offer acceptance.

Does anyone have any idea when the next round of acceptances will be? Going crazy here, haven't heard anything since interviewing in October...

Next wave wont be until Feb-March and it will most likely be the last wave of acceptance. I also interviewed in October and this waiting is killing me.

I m not sure when the last wave will be, but based off of last years thread, the next wave went out the second week of February I believe

Another wave must have just went out. I have a friend who heard back today.

The last thing I got was regarding their accreditation. I really hope we hear something by February. I can’t imagine whey they hadn’t sent out something yet.

OOS student. I received an interview invite yesterday around 12pm noon for Feb 1st. How was the interview for everyone else?

I really enjoy MMI, the key is to know that each new room is a fresh start. If you stumble in one you have two more chances to make a good impression. However, there are a lot of questions so you have to think relatively quickly. So you must have a good grasp of yourself and your experiences to think of answers fast. I went through all of my experiences I listed in VMCAS and wrote down traits that each one taught me and tried to think of a couple stories from each that demonstrated qualities I knew they were looking for. This made it much easier to think of answers. I never looked at the timer which I think kept me from feeling anxious. The interviewer would let me know each time when there was one minute left so I could get my final thoughts out. I had a similar experience in that the interviewers were very laid back, they usually asked me 1 or 2 follow up questions but nothing too intense since there isn't a lot of time. Another aspect I liked was that each room had sort of a theme for questions so we weren't switching topics.

Is there an official date when they let applicants know if they have been admitted or not? Or do they send them in waves? I interviewed back in November and haven't heard anything

I still have not heard anything about an interview invite. I am guessing if they don't send me one by friday it is a no then?

I would call admissions and ask if you have concerns about it. But as long as you haven’t gotten a rejection email then there is still hope!

Reading through an old thread i found this and i love it.

I’m taking a study break to peruse through SDN and having a bout of PTSD, but also a good laugh, remembering how my mind was running rampant while anxiously waiting for an acceptance. This tedious wait seems to have the same affect on us as the 5 steps of grieving. We shall call it:

The 5 Steps of Vet School Acceptance

1. Denial: That application I just submitted was AWSOME!! No one can top what I’m about to bring to the table!! I am the epitome of a great vet student! Other end of the spectrum: Maybe I’m not good enough… maybe I don’t have what it takes…

2. Anger/Paranoia: Congratulations on your acceptance!! *internally: $*&#@! There goes one more seat that I could have filled* What do they have that I don’t?! Its b/c I said I wanted to do companion animal practice isn’t it… I should have lied and said Food Animal is LIFE!! Conspiracies!! This whole thing is a conspiracy!! I bet they watch this thread… I bet that person is actually administration and is connecting my IP address with my application we speak! That school sucks. They’re in farm country. They obviously only want cow vets! I wouldn’t go there even if I was accepted… If I were a male, I wouldn’t even be in this situation right now… I would have been accepted based on my genitalia in this female inundated profession!

3. Bargaining/statistical analysis: I interviewed in January and they still haven’t accepted some that interviewed in October… 1200 applications…. 600 interviews… 115 accepted… 10 people have already turned down their seat…. I’ve still gotta chance!!... right?!? I’m noticing a trend of early acceptance Friday emails… I’m going to email the schools and see if I’m right about this hunch… If 2 trains leave New York heading south going 52 MPH, there should be slew of acceptance emails sent out Wednesday at 4:45 EST…

4. Depression: Omg! I’m a loser! I’m never going to get in!! What am I going to do with my life?!! I’m going to be 30 and living in my mom’s basement!!!

5. Acceptance: Nah, man… Its cool. I’ll just work on myself and my application and have a go at it next cycle… Maybe I’ll get my Masters

I hope you guys can appreciate the humor/sarcasm/truth in the above, because being in that limbo waiting to hear back SUCKS and makes you go absolutely CRAZY!!:laugh::laugh:

As someone who has been there and is now on the other side, maybe I can calm some angst with the things that I’ve pieced together since being here…

These early acceptances are for the Crème of the Crop or the folks they feel are the absolute ideal student/perspective veterinarian. They interview early in hopes to snatch these guys up before another school can. Being a new school, who had to put up one hell of a fight with the AVMA to be so, they really have to prove themselves and show the AVMA that they made the right choice in allowing LMU-CVM to exist. It only makes sense that LMU wants to fill the seats with the statistical “best of the best.”

But, as we are all beginning to see, the early acceptances are starting to turn down their invitations because they’ve received an acceptance from their in-state school. Of course, they did!! These people have amazing applications!! Plus, they’d be NUTS not to go IS and pay a fraction of the cost in tuition. Others may choose to attend a state University rather than this new private school, located in the desolate mountains of Virginia, with a still pending accreditation status. (You can do it c/o 2018! I believe in you!!)

This is why LMU interviews so many. They have to be prepared with a 2nd string… maybe even a 3rd and 4th string. This is also why you guys, as the anxious waiters, should not give up hope! If you are wait-listed in March, don’t give up hope! In April, after matriculation fees are paid and you have no status change, don’t give up hope! If it’s mid-May and you’re still hanging out on the waitlist, you should probably start seriously putting together your CV for that internship in North Carolina collecting genetic samples from coastal fish. (Boating experience preferred, but not required!) And as soon as you’ve decided that running PCR analysis for a year may not be all that bad, you just may look down at your phone to see you have a new email… and that email may be from LMU… and LMU just might be saying “Congratulations, a seat for the class of 202_ has become available!”

With that said, this is totally my own detective work. Nothing above can be taken as absolute fact. I’ve still yet to figure out the rhyme or reason to how they determine their next in line. And you definitely can’t assume that because you were accepted near the end that you are somewhat less deserving or less likely to succeed. I have a friend who didn’t get accepted until July, two weeks before classes started! As of right now, she is ranked first in the class.

Vet school acceptance is one of the world greatest mysteries, if you ask me. What’s not a mystery is my love for LMU. Even though I had some blips in my application, they were still willing to give me a shot when no one else would. If you asked the question, “Why did you choose LMU?” and the response you received was “Because it was the only school I got into” don’t think of that as a negative. Some of us didn’t get the opportunity to compare and contrast our vast list of acceptances to weigh the pro’s and con’s in making our final decisions of where we’d obtain our degree. LMU was the only school who saw something in us that no one else did… who looked at us as more than just a GPA and a test score. LMU is my dream vet school because they actually gave me the chance, and now my dreams of becoming a veterinarian are coming true.

So, my LMU-CVM hopefuls, take a deep breath, remain calm, remain sain, and hang in there!!! It ain’t over till the fat lady sings! :horns:

Haven’t heard anything either, I feel like I’m kind of just on the lookout for my rejection letter at this point..

Interviews end pretty soon, right?

Can anyone help clarify how the interviews work. I know that there are 3 separate 8 minute interviews where the interviewers have not seen your application but that's all I know about it. How were the questions and the overall nature of the questions? Any help would be appreciated!

Nothing too serious or trippy. Mostly casual questions that are pretty easy to answer to get to know you. Don’t stress about it ! You got this!

According to APVMA FB page, LMU just sent out another batch of interview invites. Everyone be on the lookout in your spam folder!

I received an interview invite this morning, and it stated that Feb 1st was the last day opened for interviews. I chose to attend, but having a hard time finding flights and places to stay. Any recommendations?

For hotels I recommend the Holiday Inn Expeess in Middlesboro! This was by far one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. My room was absolutely huge. I believe that you also get a discount if you mention LMU.

For flights, check sites like priceline, kayak, Expedia where they compare multiple airlines and they may have a “nearby airports” button too that might expand the search area a bit. May have to drive a bit more, but it could be a bit cheaper depending on the airport you fly from home and the airport you land at near LMU, as well as the airline you take.
